• Which PHP framework for a RoR developer?

  For one specific client I have to use PHP. This and this question were 2 years old. I'd like to know is there any update of opinion for year 2010? My background on web development is mainly rails. I can code in PHP (for example, write a module for Drupal) but never used any PHP framework for any project. I can see the following potential features to be needed in my project: authlogic-like user access control will_paginate-like paging for long listings paperclip-like simple file upload prawn-like PDF generation restful url and my personal favorite ruby/rails features: activerecord <% @list.each do |item| %> synstax instead of for ($i=1; $i<=$row_num; $i++) ... rake:db migrate script/console Thanks!

  This is Collection Structure [{ "_id" : "....", "name" : "aaaa", "level_max_leaves" : [ { level : "ObjectIdString 1", max_leaves : 4, } ] }, { "_id" : "....", "name" : "bbbb", "level_max_leaves" : [ { level : "ObjectIdString 2", max_leaves : 2, } ] }] I need to find the subdocument value of level_max_leaves.level filter when its matching with given input value. And this how I tried, For example, var empLevelId = 'ObjectIdString 1' ; MyModel.aggregate( {$unwind: "$level_max_leaves"}, {$match: {"$level_max_leaves.level": empLevelId } }, {$group: { "_id": "$level_max_leaves.level", "total": { "$sum": "$level_max_leaves.max_leaves" }}}, function (err, res) { console.log(res); }); But here the $match filter is not working. • NHibernate very slow during debugging

  Have anyone stumbled upon a problem where NHibernate is extremely slow in Visual Studio while debugging, but behaves normally when run separately? Logging is disabled and the time lost seems to be when the actual queries are executed, NHProfiler shows that queries were executed very quickly (on SQL side I presume), but each session with 10 queries takes about 4 seconds. I am using SQL Express Server. As I said, even if I turn on full logging and run my application without Visual Studio it is a magnitude faster. Update. After hours and hours of work towards the issue I was able to fix it by simply switching project type from Windows Application to Console Application (although in reality it's a Windows Service, but it always worked before with Windows Application project type). What could possibly be the difference to bring NHibernate to a halt in debugging mode?

• Why I am getting type error undefined from my jquery from my php json?

• The case of the sneaky backslash - Regex

  I'm missing something very obvious here, but I just cant see it. I've got: string input = @"999\abc.txt"; string pattern = @"\\(.*)"; string output = Regex.Match(input,pattern).ToString(); Console.WriteLine(output); My result is: \abc.txt I don't want the slash and cant figure out why it's sneaking into the output. I tried flipping the pattern, and the slash winds up in the output again: string pattern = @"^(.*)\\"; and get: 999\ Strange. The result is fine in Osherove's Regulator. Any thoughts? Thanks.

• Best way to auto-restore a database every hour

  I have a demo site where anyone can login and test a management interface. Every hour I would like to flush all the data in the SQL 2008 Database and restore it from the original. Red Gate Software has some awesome tools for this, however they are beyond my budget right now. Could I simply make a backup copy of the database's data file, then have a c# console app that deletes it and copies over the original. Then I can have a windows schedule task to run the .exe every hour. It's simple and free... would this work? I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 Web edition I understand that Red Gate Software is technically better because I can set it to analyze the db and only update the records that were altered, and the approach I have above is like a "sledge hammer".

I want to fetch the ID of the cloned element which will be sent to the the application with the AJAX request. • Tying PyQt4 QAction triggered() to local class callable doesn't seem to work. How to debug this?

  I create this object when I want to create a QAction. QtCore.QObject.connect() returns True. Nothing is printed on the console to indicate that anything is wrong, and no exception is thrown. How can I debug this? (or, what am I doing wrong?)

• How do I compile for windows XP under windows 7 / visual studio 2008

  I'm running Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2008 Pro and trying to get my application to work on Windows XP SP3. It's a really minimal command line program so should have any ridiculous dependencies: // XPBuild.cpp : Defines the entry point for the console application. // #include "stdafx.h" int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) { printf("Hello world"); getchar(); return 0; } I read somewhere that defining several constants such as WINVER should allow me to compile for other platforms. I've tried the added the following to my /D compiler options: ;WINVER=0x0501;_WIN32_WINNT 0x0501;NTDDI_VERSION=NTDDI_WINXP But that made no difference. When I run it on my Windows XP machine (actually running in a virtualbox) I get the following error: This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. So what have I missed? Is there something else required to run MSVC compiled programs or a different compiler option or something else?

• Mongoid Embeds_many won't save on nested form

  I've got an embeds_many association I'm trying to set up which I've done successfully before, but I'm trying to do it all in one nested form and I can't figure it out. Let's say we have a pocket model: class Pocket include Mongoid::Document field :title, type: String embeds_many :coins, cascade_callbacks: true end and a Coin Model: class Coin include Mongoid::Document field :name, type: String embedded_in :pocket end in my form for the pocket, I'm using: = f.fields_for @pocket.coins do |coin| = coin.text_field :name My controller is the default scaffolded controller. When I use the console, it saves fine and I can see the new pocket and coin I've created. But when I try to create or update a coin from the form, the pocket saves but the coin remains unchanged. What am I missing here?

This is my approach: Generate pojo classes from my sybase database using hibernate in eclipse Use these pojo classes to generate the schema in mysql database Then somehow migrate the data from sybase to mysql I guess this approach should work???   Hello All, I have an application built that hits a third party company's web service in order to create an email account after a customer clicks a button. However, sometimes the web service takes longer than 1 minute to respond, which is way to long for my customers to be sitting there waiting for a response. I need to devise a way to set up some sort of queuing service external from the web site. This way I can add the web service action to the queue and advise the customer it may take up to 2 minutes to create the account. I'm curious of the best way to achieve this. My initial thought is to request the actions via a database table which will be checked on a regular basis by a Console app which is run via Windows Scheduled tasks. Any issues with that method? Is there a better method you can think of?

  As per my understanding a lock is not released until the runtime completes the code block of the lock(obj) ( because when the block completes it calls Monitor.Exit(obj). • Applet problem with IPlanet and Firefox (class not found)

  I have an applet which loads nicely when accessed locally (both IE and Firefox). However, when I put my webpage in a webserver (local IPlanet), it refuses to load on Firefox (but still fine on IE). • Implementation of APIs on diferent platforms

  OK, this is basicly just about any non-default OS API running on all different OS. But for my example let´s consider platform Windows, API SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer). Actually this question came to my mind when I was reading about SDL. Originally, I thought that on Windows (and basicly any other OS) you must use OS API to make certain actions, like wrtiting to screen, creating window and so on, becouse that API knows what kernel calls and system subroutines calls it has to do. But when I read about SDL, I surprised me, becouse, you cannot make computer to do anything more than OS can, since you cannot acess HW directly, only thru OS API, from Console allocation to DirectX. So, my question actually is, how does this not-default-OS APIs work? Do they use (wrap) original system API (like MFC wraps win32 api)? Or, do they actually have direct acess to Windows kernel? Or is there any third, way in between? Thanks.
