I cannot use logical functions on a range of booleans in Clojure (1.2). Neither of the following works due to logical functions being macros:
(reduce and [... sequence of bools ...])
(apply or [... sequence of bools ...])
The error saying that I "can't take value of a macro: #'clojure.core/and". How to apply these logical functions (macros) without writing boilerplate code?
Hi. Does anyone know a good C# tutorials (example) step by step?
It should be not a description of libraries, foundations and the OOP concept, and so forth, but the writing of any application step by step. For example, a mail client, telephone directory, a simple graphical editor, audio player.
Thanks!
This is a general question about writing web apps.
I have an application that counts page views of articles as well as a url shortner script that I've installed for a client of mine. The problem is that, whenever bots hit the site, they tend to inflate the page views.
Does anyone have an idea on how to go about eliminating bot views from the view count of these applications?
What are the limits of writing a C# app when you want a truly impressive GUI? At what point does one have to leave Visual C# behind and go into WPF?
Also, if I choose to go with WPF, do I have to ditch the Visual Studio IDE and go with Expression Studio?
I am using R-studio for data recovery on one of my ntfs partition. There is a pdf file about 16MB, but the software can only recover 15MB of it. So I am thinking about what ways can be used to improve the quality of scanning and recovery by the software?
I am looking around its preferences. I am not quite sure whether there are some adjustable parameters for scanning and recovery which can be fine-tuned to improve the quality?
R-studio has a free demo version, for which scanning is free,but recovery isn't.
It is downloadable from http://www.data-recovery-software.net/Data_Recovery_Download.shtml
Its manual is here http://www.r-tt.com/downloads/Recovery_Manual.pdf. I have tried my best to search for answers in the manual, but failed to find one. Their technical support is not as good as their software, and helpless usually in my opinion.
Thanks!
Is there any plugin available for Eclipse or Netbeans or any other IDE which can help me generate the hbm.xml by directly reading the schema from the database.
Writing those XMLs seem to be unnecessary waste of time, and feel it should be automated.
Hi, I am writing a custom read function for one of the data types in my module. For eg, when I do read "(1 + 1)" :: Data, I want it to return Plus 1 1. My data declaration is data Data = Plus Int Int. Thanks
The "Sleep" command as stated in many places over the internet (including here on this forum) DOES NOT WORK. Is it now an obsolete command?
I am writing the VBScript code like this:
sub button1_onclick()
Wscript.Sleep 1000
div1.innerHTML = textbox1.value
end sub
It should wait 1 second and then execute that simple command. This is an utterly simple statement but it does not work. Plain and simple. It comes up with an error every time saying:
Object Required: 'Wscript'
I am writing installation script for my program, which is supposed to run on Linux/Unix OS. What is the default directory for the following files:
Executable files (programs). Program should be executed by typing its name from the command line.
Shared libraries.
Third-party shared libraries (the program is not open source, so I need to redistribute third-party libraries).
Read-only program configuration files for all users.
Configuration data available for read/write access for all users.
I am writing a little bit of documentation and code explanation. I would like to copy code from eclipse including line numbers, so that it becomes easier to reference the code in the text.
Is there any way to do this in eclipse or some other IDE, editor?

I am writing VB script in which I have to call a function of a COM DLL. The fuction which I want to use is in structure and thus I want to create the object of that structure to access the required function.
e.g.
I have a dll 'BasicCom.dll', in which
struct abc
{
bool xyz();
}
Now I want to call xyz(). Is any one have any idea, how to deal with such call in Vb script.
While running my program I get this Error:
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::length_error'
what(): basic_string::_S_create
Abort trap
I know that you can't do much without the code but I think that error is to deep in the code to copy all of it. Maybe I can figure it out if I understand what this error means.
Is this a sign for an issue with reading or writing at the wrong memory address?
Is there something I can do to get more information about the problem from my program?
I seem to remember seeing some neat way of calling InvokeRequired and Invoke to avoid repeating too much code in every event handler but I can't remember what that was.
So does anyone know a neat way of writing that code?
Preferably for VB.Net 2005.
I need to automate packing of Java EE projects into EAR archive in Eclipse. The most easy way, I think, is using Ant script. But writing of Ant from start is routine and long task. Is there a way to generate Ant script based on my actions in eclipse (like macros in MS Office)?
Or, maybe, exists easier way to do this?
Thanks!
I want a simple timeline component (like in video editing software) for a clojure/seesaw app and I am wondering if it is a good approach to implement this directly with clojure and seesaw or if I should write it in java and make my clojure wrapper around it.
Or more generally: is a functional programming language optimal for writing UI widgets? I cannot imagine doing that without a lot of state involved. And wasn't OO invented for UI-development in the first place?
I need to open a file for reading and writing. If the file is not found, it should be created. It should also be treated as a binary for Windows. Can you tell me the file mode sequence I need to use for this?
I tried 'r+ab' but that doesn't create the files if they are not found.
Thanks
I've followed this tutorial: http://anandhansubbiah.com/blog/writing-your-first-android-application/, but no matter what I do, and what I change, when I run the app, all I see is the image below. Is there something I must press to start developing? Did I add starting code. I'm completely stumped...
Is there a "best" or more popular database for standalone Java app?
I'm currently writing by hand, but I would like to know what is commonly done, if there is something that is commonly done.
Hi, I have heard a lot of different terms to describe the process of turning a website design into a editable CMS. Currently I take the design and "slice" this up into HTML and CSS then I "plug" this into a CMS. I would class this as frontend development depending on the level of customisation required for the CMS.
The reason I ask is I am currently writing up my CV and have become stuck on the correct term for this.
Kind Regards
I can't figure this out and I thought that someone might run through the same thing.
I have XCode 3.2.3 (Pre Release with OS 4 beta) and I started to create my application, after the final touches and everything worked ok, I changed the Simulator - 4.0 to Simulator - 3.1.3 (latest iPhone OS) and I could never start my app again :-(
Does anyone know what I should do?
I created a simple Screencast of the problem so everyone can see what I'm writing about.
Thank you for all the help.
Hello. I'm writing an algorithm for finding the second min cost spanning tree. my idea was as follows:
1) Use kruskals to find lowest MST.
2) Delete the lowest cost edge of the MST.
3) Run kruskals again on the entire graph.
4) return the new MST.
My question is this: Will this work? Is there a better way perhaps to do this?
Hi,
I am basically working on unix and c programming.
i want to start learning Pro*c on unix.
Is there any good online tutorial which will help me start writing simple programs in pro*c and compiling those Pro*c files.?
Thanks in advance for your help.
