• SilverLight 3.0 DataGrid LoadingRow Event

  Following are my Question regarding the LoadingRow event of the Datagrid When will it fires after the Row is bound to the data or after that. As if you debug the Silverlight application then of first execution if you type following code ((System.Windows.Controls.TextBlock)(((System.Windows.Controls.ContentControl)(((DataGridRow)e.Row).Cells[1])).Content)).Text if will return empty string but if your datagrid has scroll (which is in my case , my datagrid has scroll), if you scroll down then the LoadingRow firs again and this time it will return Text on that cell?? why it is not return text on first time and return on second time when i press the scroll bar ??? If I paste above code in the cs file then it will return error 'System.Windows.Controls.DataGridRow' does not contain a definition for 'Cells' and no extension method 'Cells' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Windows.Controls.DataGridRow' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) • Angle and Length of Wind Barb Flags

  I am working on an application that displays surface winds. Wind speed and direction will be displayed using "wind barb" symbols, as described here: Plotted Winds My question: Are there any standards for the angles and lengths of the "flags" in relation to the the wind-barb "pole"? Eyeballing the diagrams I've seen, I think that an angle of 60 degrees and a flag length about a third as long as the pole length would look fine, but if there are any officially defined standards for these symbols, I'd like to follow them. Note: This app will not be used for navigation, so it is not very important that it look exactly like an official chart. I just don't want it to be ugly, or to look obviously wrong to a knowledgeable user.

• LinkedHashMap vs HashMap != LinkedList vs ArrayList

  I have read that LinkedHashMap has faster iteration speed than HashMap because its elements are doubly linked to each other. Additionally, because of this, LinkedHashMap is slower when inserting or deleting elements. Presumably because these links also need to be updated. Although I can see an analogy to LinkedList vs ArrayList, in that the elements of LinkedList are also doubly-linked, I read that it iterates slower than ArrayList, and has faster insertion and deletion times. Why is this? Perhaps I am making a mistake somewhere? Cheers1

• TFS webtest for SSRS reports issue

  I am creating webtests in TFS and trying to test reports execution in SSRS. When I record the initial process, it includes Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd files. These files are what is causing the problem. When I remove the files, the report does not display, however if I keep the AXD files in it works fine. The problem with keeping the AXD files is the reportsession querystring variable that are included. If I run the report after a bit the reportsession has obviously changed. Any help is appreciated.

  I have a client application developed in .net seding a request to wcf service and supposed to send reponse .if execution time with in 1 minute,there is no error,if it exceeds 1 minute the error is Inner exception: This request operation sent to net.tcp://localhost:18001/PitToPort/2008/01/30/StockpileService/tcp did not receive a reply within the configured timeout (00:01:00). The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. This may be because the service is still processing the operation or because the service was unable to send a reply message. Please consider increasing the operation timeout (by casting the channel/proxy to IContextChannel and setting the OperationTimeout property) and ensure that the service is able to connect to the client how to increase the time out and how?What is the best solution.

• Spring 3 Controller Exception handler implementation problems

  I was hoping to implement a single "ExceptionController" to handle exceptions that are thrown in execution of my other controllers' methods. I hadn't specified any HandlerExceptionResolver in my application context so according to the API documentation the AnnotationMethodHandlerExceptionResolver should be started. Verified as such in the source. So I am curious to know why the following isn't working. @Controller public class ExceptionController { @ExceptionHandler(NullPointerException.class) public ModelAndView handleNullPointerException(NullPointerException ex) { // Do some stuff log.error(logging stuff) return myModelAndView; } } @Controller public class AnotherController { @RequestMapping(value="/nullpointerpath") public String throwNullPointer() { throw new NullPointerException(); } } I see in the debug logs that the three default exception handlers are asked for handling of the exception, but nothing is done and I see "DispatcherServlet - Could not complete request". Followed by the user being displayed the stacktrace and a 500 Internal error.

• Differences between Django ugettext and ugettext_lazy

  I keep rereading the Django's internationalization documentation and still don't understand when and why should I use django.translation.ugettext_lazy as opposed to django.translation.ugettext? I understand that using ugettext_lazy means that I will deffer from translating the string until the very end. Is it because Django parses the Accept-Language request header or the request.URL for the language code very late during the execution, which would mean that I may not be targeting the user's preferred language code if I was using ugettext? Would that ultimately mean that I should only use ugettext if I want to enforce that the message gets explicitly translated to the language specified in settings.LANGUAGE_CODE, or the currently active language as per django.translation.get_language()?

• nunit-console.exe hangs after finishing test run

  Hi We got a problem with NUnit 2.5.3: nunit-console.exe does not return after finishing all tests. The process hangs forever. Example: All tests succeed, but it keeps doing something.   I have a loaded XDocument that I need to grab all the attributes that equal a certain value and is of a certain element efficiently. I dont think this causes any real speed concerns. The problem is the Where itself. I am searching through anywhere from 1 to 10k items. Any help?

• Handle Arbitrary Exception, Print Default Exception Message

  I have a program, a part of which executes a loop. During the execution of this loop, there are exceptions. Obviously, I would like my program to run without errors, but for the sake of progress, I would like the program to execute over the entire input and not stop when an exception is thrown. The easiest way to do this would be by implementing and except block. However, when I do this, it excepts all exceptions and continues with the program and I never get to see the exception message (which I need in order to debug). Is there a way to except any arbitrary exception and be able to print out the exception message in the except block?

• Initializing SD card in SPI issues

  Sorry for the length of this question, but I thought it best to show as much detail to fend of questions asking if I had done A when I had already done A... ;-) I've had a look at the "micro-SD card initialization using SPI interface" thread and didn't see any answers that matched my issue (i.e. things I haven't already tried). I have a similar issue where I'm trying to access a SD card through a micro-controller's SPI interface (specifically an HC908). I've tried following the flow charts in the Physical Layer Simplified Specification v2.00 and it seems to initialize correctly on Transcend 1GB & 2GB and an AE&C 1GB card. But I'm having problems on 3 other random cards from my stash of old cards that I've used on my camera. My code is all HC908 assembler. I scoped out the SPI clock line and during initialization it's running about 350kHz (the only speed multiplier that the HC908 supplies at my low MCU clock speed that falls within the 100-400kHz window). Code craps out because Illegal command bit is high. WTF is wrong with that card? Sometimes in sync, other times not. (The above pattern is repeatable.) I've scoped this one out and I'm not seeing any rogue clock cycles going through between MOSI/MISO transfers. Anyone have any clues? Need any more info? • Database design for summarized data

  I have a new table I'm going to add to a bunch of other summarized data, basically to take some of the load off by calculating weekly avgs. My question is whether I would be better off with one model over the other. One model with days of the week as a column with an additional column for price or another model as a series of fields for the DOW each taking a price. • Accessing Google Spreadsheets with C# using Google Data API fails with Mono

  I'm trying to access my Google spreadsheets using the GData API. I have followed the example which looks like: var service = new SpreadsheetsService("myTest"); service.setUserCredentials(username, password); var query = new SpreadsheetQuery(); var feed = service.Query(query); This should return a feed with a list of spreadsheets. However this fails with: Google.GData.Client.GDataRequestException: Execution of request failed: http://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/spreadsheets/private/full --- System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. When I try the above link directly in my browser I'm able to download the feed, as long as I'm logged in into my Google account. Some further information: I'm not behind a firewall I have checked my username (maurits.rijk at gmail.com) and password several times I am using Mandriva in VirtualBox on a MacBook All my code is compiled with Mono I tried the same functionality in Java on OS-X. That code runs as expected.

• Is Objective C fast enough for DSP/audio programming

  I've been making some progress with audio programming for iPhone. Now I'm doing some performance tuning, trying to see if I can squeeze more out of this little machine. Running Shark, I see that a significant part of my cpu power (16%) is getting eaten up by objc_msgSend. I understand I can speed this up somewhat by storing pointers to functions (IMP) rather than calling them using [object message] notation. But if I'm going to go through all this trouble, I wonder if I might just be better off using C++. Any thoughts on this?

• IPhone like scrolling on Silverlight ListBox

  Hi! I need a listbox with IPhone-like functionality for Silverlight. That is, animated scrolling, and click and drag to scroll. Scrolling will continue a bit after the mouse up event based on the "speed" of the dragging. I've search and found no control vendors providing this. So question is how should I build it? I need some hints to get started. There's two parts to this question: Part 1, How to get the animated scrolling of the listbox. Part 2, How to build a "draggable" scrolling, I guess I should put a canvas on top and track the mouseevent, and simulate some physics. Some hints here would have been great. Thanks Larsi.

• C# Audio - How to time stretch (different tempo, same pitch)

  I'm trying to make a winform app in C# (VS2008) that can load an mp3 (other formats would be nice, but mp3 at a minimum) and be able to adjust the playback speed (tempo) without affecting pitch. I really don't need any other audio effects. I tried using DirectShow but that doesn't seem to offer time stretch capabilities. I was able to incorporate irrklang but that does not seem to have the time stretch capability either. So now I've moved on to SoundTouch. That certainly has the capabilities but I'm very unclear on how to implement in C#. After a few days of this, about all I've accomplished is using DLLImport on the SoundTouch DLL and am able to successfully retrieve a version number. At this point, I'm not even sure if I can do what I'm trying to do with SoundTouch. Can anyone offer some guidance either on how to implement SoundTouch or a different library with the capabilities that I'm looking for? Thank you.

The thing is, they WERE working so I went to work on supposedly unrelated parts of the website and at some point the left mouse button click stopped working. Any ideas what I might have done? Left button clicking still works for everything else on the site so its not some global setting. • Java: ArrayList bottleneck

  Hello, while profiling a java application that calculates hierarchical clustering of thousands of elements I realized that ArrayList.get occupies like half of the CPU needed in the clusterization part of the execution. The algorithm searches the two more similar elements (so it is O(n*(n+1)/2) ), here's the pseudo code: int currentMax = 0.0f for (int i = 0 to n) for (int j = i to n) get content i-th and j-th if their similarity > currentMax update currentMax merge the two clusters So effectively there are a lot of ArrayList.get involved. Is there a faster way? I though that since ArrayList should be a linear array of references it should be the quickest way and maybe I can't do anything since there are simple too many gets.. but maybe I'm wrong. I don't think using a HashMap could work since I need to get them all on every iteration and map.values() should be backed by an ArrayList anyway.. Otherwise should I try other collection libraries that are more optimized? Like google's one, or apache one.. Thanks

• Conversion of bytes into a type without changing the application (ie storing the conversion method i

  Is there a way to store a conversion strategy (for converting some bytes) into a database and then execute it on the run time. If one were to store a complete java file, you would need to compile it, store the class and some how inject into the already running system. I am not sure how this would be possible. But using some kind of dynamic language on JVM would be nice. I see an example of execution of groovy from within spring context here http://www.devx.com/tips/Tip/42789 but this is still static in nature as application context contains the reference to the implementation and cannot be changed by database. Perhaps with JavaConfig of context it is possible. I am exploring options now, specifically with Spring 3.0. Your suggestions in any direction would be welcome.

• What is the Relative Performance of Pseudo-Class and Custom Selectors?

  It's my understanding that, in terms of selector speed, that #ID selectors are fastest, followed by element selectors, and then .class selectors. I have always assumed that pseudo-class selectors and custom selectors (those in the form ':selector') are similar to .class selectors, but I realised that I'm just not sure. I realise that this does depend on the complexity of the code within the pseudo-class/custom selector, so I guess I'd like to know the answer with this excluded as factor.
