  • php sessions in database only writing part of information to the table...

    I'm having difficulty figuring out what's going on here, hoping some one can help me out. I have been using php, mysql storing my session information in the database. The app is only running on localhost, vista. In the php.ini file I commented out the "session.save_handler = files" line and am using a php class to handle the session writes/reads, etc. My login process is this: Submit login credentials via login.php. login.php calls loginprocess.php. loginprocess.php verifies user, and if valid starts a new session and adds data to the session vars, then it redirects to index.php. Here's the problem. the loginprocess.php page has a bunch of session vars that get set like $_SESSION['account_id'] = $account_id; etc. but when I go to index.php and do a var_dump($_SESSION) it just says "array() empty". However, if I do a var_dump($_SESSION) in loginprocess.php, just before the redirection line header("Location: ../index.php"); then it shows all the data in the session variable. If I look in the database where the session information is stored, there is data in the session_id field, created_ts field, and expires field, but the session_data field has nothing inside of it and in the past this is the field where all my session data was stored. How could I be able to var_dump the session in loginprocess.php, but the data not exist in the db table, is it using some kind of caching? I cleared my cookies, etc...but no change. Why is the session_id, being written to the table, but the actual session data is not? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

    Can I search for files which contain a specific string in a folder if that folder is not in the search index? So, lets say folder 'textFiles' is not in the index. I navigate to this folder in windows explorer. I type '.ini' in the search box I want to see a result list containing only 'b.txt' FOLDER C:\textFiles\ FILE a.php CONTENT once twice thrice mice moose monkey FILE b.txt CONTENT mingle muddle middle.ini banana beer FILE c.spo CONTENT sellotape stapler phone book I do not have permission to add folders to the windows index and I do not have permission to install or run any executables that did not ship with the server or approved applications. I'd be happy with a windows native command line solution if necessary? Thanks G

  • What are the main benefits of implementing a virtual machine as part of an application?

    Several databases I've been looking at recently implement a virtual machine internally to perform the respective data reads and writes. For an example, check out this article on SQLite's virtual machine they call the 'VDBE'. I'm curious as to what the benefits of such an architecture are. I would assume performance is one but why would a virtual machine like this run faster? In fact, it seems to be that this extra layer could cause it to run slower. So perhaps it's for security? Or portability? Anyway, just curious about this.

  • Ubuntu 12.04/12.10 can't detect windows or any other partitions(Asus z77 UEFI BIOS)

    I've recently completed tinkering my new pc(motherboard ASUS z77 with UEFI BIOS) and unfortunately not everything works quite well. After installing windows 7 ultimate on a single primary partition(SATA drive) I decided to allocate one more logical partition for additional needs. When I tried doing it with the manager - it said that it couldn't allocate requested size even though I certainly asked for much less than it was available. I thought that it might have been a windows issue and proceded to installing Ubuntu 12.10 x64. When the graphical interface loaded it showed me a message stating that it can't find any other operating system on the drive. When I used custom partioning option it showed me none of my current partions(including that with windows). However, when I boot with "Try Ubuntu" feature it does find them ! I find it weird though.     I thought every time you do a flash[:notice]="Message" it would add it to the array which would then get displayed during the view but the following just keeps the last flash: flash[:notice] = "Message 1" flash[:notice] = "Message 2" Now I realize it's just a simple hash with a key (I think :)) but is there a better way to do multiple flashes than the following: flash[:notice] = "Message 1<br />" flash[:notice] = "Message 2" Thanks.     I am in the process of migrating 2 DB servers (Master & Slave) to two new DB Servers (Master and Slave) DB1 - Master (production) DB2 - Slave (production) DB3 - New Master DB4 - New Slave Currently I have the replication set up as: DB1 -> DB2 DB3 -> DB4 To get the production data replicated to the new servers, I'd like to get it "daisy chained" so that it looks like this: DB1 -> DB2 -> DB3 -> DB4 Is this possible?     I am building a C++ application that uses Intel's IPP library. This library is installed by default in /opt and requires you to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH both for compiling and for running your software (if you choose the shared library linking, which I did). I already modified my configure.ac/Makefile.am so that I do not need to set that variable when compiling, but I still can't find the shared library at run-time; how do I do that? I'm compiling with the -Wl, -R/path/to/lib flag using g++

    I measured load times for a wordpress 2.9.2 install on apache 2.2.3 and I was intrigued by the long periods between connect and first byte for the css and image files. Load Average is 0.0, 0.0, 0.0 and there are 150MB free RAM on the VPS.   • Why does my Belkin Play router regularly stop working for a few minutes at a time?

    I recently purchased a Belking Play dual-band router for my home. About every few hours, the router stops working or "cuts out" for several minutes before coming back online automatically. My old one did this as well. I figured out a main problem was my wireless home phone, which sends a 2.4GHz signal. Anytime someone would call the phone, my router would get interrupted. Therefore, I unplugged this phone and got a wired phone. Unfortunately, my wired phone has the same problem. Therefore, I unplugged the wired phone. Unfortunately, my router still has regular issues. I live in a home with neighbors within close proximity to me, so it might be possible that their devices are the ones causing me problems. How can I determine what is causing my router problems? I thought that the point of a dual-band router was that if a signal was interfering on one band then it would be uninterrupted on another. However, it seems that is not the case. Does anyone have any tips on how to troubleshoot this or any knowledge you can share to properly set my expectations?

    I open these applications in my desktop computer: Visual Studio 2010 Professional IBM Lotus Notes Google Chrome And when it is idle for an hour and I restore the windows, the user interface responds very slowly. My computer auto-lock itself after being idle for 5 minutes. I also minimize the applications using a docklet (RocketDock). Why is it slowing down and how can I prevent it from slowing? My OS is Windows XP Professional SP3, Pentum(R) Dual Core @ 2.80 GHz, 1.99 GB of RAM.

  • How can I prevent Ask.com Toolbar from being installed every time Java is updated?

    As many are painfully aware of, Oracle continues to not only bundle the Java installation with the useless Internet browser toolbar from Ask.com, but also enable its installation by default. In addition to the toolbar, Ask also replaces your favourite search engine in your browser with Ask. Furthermore, the Java installation goes as far as to actually recommend installing this useless junk, meaning that any non IT-savvy person is more than likely to leave it checked and install it (after all, it was enabled by default and the friendly Java installer did recommend it, right?). To add insult to injury, even if you remove the Ask Toolbar, you can be sure to see it again soon, when the next Java update hits you (which seem to happen quite often lately, due to loads of security fixes for Java, but that's another story). I'll duly remove the check-mark to install Ask Toolbar, whenever I update Java, but when supporting my family and friends, it's obvious they don't. How can I prevent the pesky Ask.com Toolbar from being installed in the first place?
