• utf-8 convertion doesn't work always

  I searched into other stack before to type here and I didn't find anythong similar. I have to scrape different utf-8 webpages which contain text like "Oggi è una bellissima giornata" the problem is on the characther "è" I extract this text with jtidy and xpath query expression and I convert it with byte[] content = filteredEncodedString.getBytes("utf-8"); String result = new String(content,"utf-8"); where filteredEncodedString contains the text "Oggi è una bellissima giornata". This procedures works on the most webpages analyzed so far but in some case it doesn't extract a utf-8 string. Page encoding is always the same as the text is similar. Any ideas about the problem? thanks Marco

I don't have a regular C compiler, so I can't test this. When we are performing *d++ |= (b & 0x0F);, what order does this occur in?

• Is it possible to use the ScalaTest BDD syntax in a JUnit environment?

  I would like to describe tests in BDD style e.g. with FlatSpec but keep JUnit as a test runner. The ScalaTest Quick Start does not seem to show any example of this: http://www.scalatest.org/getting_started_with_junit_4 I first tried naively to write tests within @Test methods, but that doesn't work and the assertion is never tested: @Test def foobarBDDStyle { "The first name control" must "be valid" in { assert(isValid("name·1")) } // etc. } Is there any way to achieve this? It would be even better if regular tests can be mixed and matched with BDD-style tests.

• Help with Magento and related products

  I have a customer product page that literally lives beside the catalog/product/view.phtml page. It's basically identical to that page with a few small exceptions. It's basically a 'product of the day' type page so I can't combine it with the regular product page since I have to fetch the data from the DB and perform a load to get the product information $_product = Mage::getModel('catalog/product')->load($row['productid']); To make a long story short, everything works (including all children html blocks) with the singular exception of the related products. After the load I save the product into the registry with Mage::register('product', $_product); and then attempt to load the related products with: echo $this->getLayout()->createBlock('catalog/product_view')->setTemplate('catalog/product/list/related.phtml')->toHtml();` All of which give back the error: Fatal error: Call to a member function getSize() on a non-object in catalog/product/list/related.phtml on line 29`, and line 29 is <?php if($this->getItems()->getSize()): ?>`. Any help getting the relateds to load would be appreicated.

  Hello I've the following expression in my report. =FormatNumber(MAX(Fields!Reading.Value, "CellReading_Reading"),3) Now when the dataset is empty 'Fields!Reading.Value' becomes empty and finding their maximum is invalid. How can i check if the entire column is empty? I tried the following with no luck. =iif(IsNothing(Fields!.Reading.Value),"",FormatNumber(MAX(Fields!Reading.Value, "CellReading_Reading"),3)) But still i'm getting #Error in the report. I also checked out link and was not able to get a clue from it. I want to handle it in the report level. Thank you. NLV

• Replacing elements within a string in R

  Hi, I have a row in a data frame in R that is made up of sequences of undetermined length of 0s 1s and 2s as characters. So "01", "010", "201", "102", "00012"... things like this. I'd like to find a way to determine if the last character in the string is NUMERICALLY the largest. It's important that I keep the row in the data frame as characters for other purposes. So basically I want to take substr(x, nchar(x), nchar(x)) and determine if it, as a number, is the largest of the numbers in the character string. I'm super lost as to how to do this, since I'm not all that familiar with regular expressions and I have to back and forth between treating elements as characters and numbers. Is there a way to set/trigger a nested property (a regular property not DependencyProperty) easily with some kind of simple mechanisms as described here? I want to acheive something like: string newValue = "Hello World!"; DataBinder.EvalSet(foo, "Bar.Value", NewValue); Is there any mechanism that support both property path (for nested objects) and XPATHs (if the objects are XPATH navigable of course) ? again, that supports get and set options. • template expressions and visual studio 2005 c++

  I'd like to build the olb3d library with my visual studio 2005 compiler but this failes due to template errors. To be more specific, the following expression seem to be a problem: void function(T u[Lattice::d]) On the website of the project is stated that prpably my compiler is not capable of such complicated template expressions - one should use the gcc 3.4.1. My question is now if there is a way to upgrade my vs c++ compiler so it can handle template expressions on the level as the gcc 3.4.1? Maybe it helps if I get a newer version of visual studio?   Hi, I am trying to migrate to MVC from conventional n tier applications. I am very much used to creating websites in the regular manner. But i find it difficult to adapt to MVC environemnt. Suppose there is a table products. I jus want to display the table data in a web page. I hav ROR installed and working. I have created a project by giving rails_apps rails demo The command prompt created some folders inside a folder called demo. Though i have read one or two tutorials i am not exactly clear about the working or the cycle of MVC. Can anyone please give some basic idea. I have managed to skim through the initial pages of Agile Web Development Through Rails. Also, please give me some usefull links on the net. That would really help me.

  I have a query to find all the phone numbers that match a partial expression such as "ends with 234" @matchingphones = Calls.find :all, :conditions => [ "(thephonenumber LIKE ?)", "%234"] The same phone number might be in the database several times, and so might be returned multiple times by this query if it matches. What I need is to know is UNIQUE phone numbers the query returns. For example if the database contains 000-111-1234 * 000-111-3333 000-111-2234 * 000-111-1234 * 000-111-4444 the existing query will return the 3 records marked with * (eg returns one phone number -1234 twice since it's in the database twice) what I need is a query that returns just once instance of each match, in this case 000-111-1234 * 000-111-2234 *

• What language is better suited for P2P video streaming?

  I would like to write a Skype like software which allows P2P video/audio streaming. What language is better suited for that? There are several requirements: Software should be easy to install. It should be easy to program. I want to have access to video information. For example to make a face expression recognition on the fly. It should be free. I am thinking of Python and Java. Which one would be better? Or may be there is a third choice which is better? ADDED Flash is an attractive option since users can use their browser in which flash is installed by default and if not, it's easy to install flash. But I do not know if I can have access to video (if I want to do some processing). Moreover, Flash is not free.

  I'm new to regex in Java and I can't figure out how to include named capture groups in an expression. I'm writing a ScrewTurn Image Converter for Confluence's Universal Wiki Converter.   I am trying to use the youtube API to pulldown some videos for my site. Currently am running this code here: //Youtube Videos Pull Down $youtubeURL = "http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos?alt=json&q=cats+cradle+chapel+hill&orderby=published&max-results=10&v=2"; $youtubeSearch = file_get_contents($youtubeURL, true); $youtubeArray = json_decode($youtubeSearch, true); Not having any problems accessing certain elements of the associative array however youtube's api is putting $ in many of its array elements .. such as [media$group] Anytime I try to access an array with one of the $ elements in it, it doesn't work. Suggestions? I have tried preg_replace but can't seem to get my expression right.

• Facebook API - Get comments

  Our business has a Facebook Fan Page. The fan page doesn't seem to generate any emails to us when updates are made to the page, whether someone adds a new status or someone comments on one of the statuses etc. Currently, we are running a very crude script to grab the content of the page and then use regular expressions to get the information we require. Obviously this is not fool proof and I'm looking into alternatives to this method. I've been looking at the facebook API and wonder if the rest server might be an option. I cannot, however, seem to find out how to return information of fan page statuses and their comments. Is anyone able to direct me how to use the API to retrieve this information. I am an admin of the fan page. The programming language I'm using is PHP. Many thanks.

• How to convert an arbitrary object to String with EL? (calling toString())

  Is there any way to call toString() on an object with the EL? (I need the String representation of an enum as index in a map in a JSP EL expression.) I hoped something like ${''+object} would work like in java, but EL isn't that nice, and there does not seem to be any function that does it. Clarification: I have a variable somemap that maps Strings to Strings, and I have a variable someenum that is an enumeration. I'd like to do something like ${somemap[someenum.toString()]}. (Of course .toString() does not work, but what does?)

• How can I clear the appcache on the Google Chrome iPad app?

  I've written a little HTML5 based web app that I am trying to debug on the iPad using the Chrome for iPad app. I have added a cache.manifest file to my app which has some heavy caching in it of most static resources however since I am now wanting to debug the app I need a way to clear this cache. I know that on Chrome for Mac you can use: chrome://appcache-internals/ however this page does not exist in the iPad app of Chrome. The regular "Clear Browsing Data" does not empty the appcache —at least not in my case. Does anyone know how I can clear the appcache for the Chrome iPad app?

• Java Split not working as expected

  I am trying to use a simple split to break up the following string: 00-00000 My expression is: ^([0-9][0-9])(-)([0-9])([0-9])([0-9])([0-9])([0-9]) And my usage is: String s = "00-00000"; String pattern = "^([0-9][0-9])(-)([0-9])([0-9])([0-9])([0-9])([0-9])"; String[] parts = s.split(pattern); If I play around with the Pattern and Matcher classes I can see that my pattern does match and the matcher tells me my groupCount is 7 which is correct. But when I try and split them I have no luck.

• Does the jQuery .unbind() method only work on jQuery created events?

  I am trying to unbind all event handlers for all elements that are inside a particular container. Like a DIV. But those events have been bound/registered not using jQuery. Some are bound the manual way with onclick="...." or using regular native JavaScript. But when i do something like this $('#TheDivContainer').find('div,td,tr,tbody,table').unbind(); It does not appear to work. Which leads me to believe that the .unbind() only works if the events have been originally bound by jQuery. Is that true? Is there another way of unbinding all events from a group of elements ? Thanks!

• retrieve Scrollbar position with javascript

  I know how to do this in flash, but completely lost about regular html. I'm trying to detect the position of the browser scrollbar with Javascript to decide where abouts in the page the current view is. My guess is that I'd have to detect where the thumb on the track is, and then the height of the thumb as a percentage of the total height of the track. Am I over-complicating it, or does Javascript offer an easier solution than that? Any ideas code-wise. Thanks.

  I have found several examples online where we can create a proc file, assign read and write methods that are called every time the proc file is opened for read or written to. However, I can't seem to find any documentation on how to programatically write to a proc file. Ideally, I would like to add a timestamp with other user details every time the proc file is opened for read or for write. Again, I've found where I can add the read and write functions that are triggered when the proc file is opened, but I can't find documentation on how to actually write to a proc file programatically. This would be different from a regular IO read/write, correct?
