• Configuring Fortigate OS4 for FTPS

  I configured iis7 ftp to allow ssl connections. I set the ssl firewall to use ports 50000-50050. If I set up a custom service on my fortigate firewall for ftps with source ports 990-50050 and destination ports 990-50050, set it to a firewall policy and connect from a client it connects and works successfully. If I create a service FTPS Control with source port 990 and destination port 990 and another service,FTP Data with source ports 50000-50050 and destination ports 50000-50050 add them to a group FTPSSL, replace the ftps policy with FTPSSL and try connecting it tries to connect to port 990 and eventually times out. Is there a way to configure the service to only use the ports I need and not every port from 990 up?

  Nem akarok provokátornak tunni, de lenne egy-két észrevételem az amúgy jól sikerült Open Source 2011 konferencia kapcsán. Persze a mi rendezvényeinkre is lehet panasz, amit szívesen is veszünk, hogy tanuljunk belole. Szóval nem sikerült az elektronikus regisztráció, pedig még fel is hívtak elotte, meg minden. Ennek ellenére a helyszíni listában mégsem voltam benne. Persze gyorsan megoldották, de azért mégis egy informatikai konferenciáról van szó. Ha már open source, akkor tényleg olyan nehéz lett volna Linuxos gépeket, odahozni OpenOffice (vagy LibreOffice, vagy akármi) telepítéssel. Volt is minden eloadásváltásnál megjegyzés. Azt már nem is említem, hogy persze a néhány kivételtol eltekintve a legtöbben ppt hoztak. Persze egy részük készülhetett OpenOffice-ban is. Mondjuk erre azért fogadnék. Persze volt aki nem ppt-ben hozta és még fel is hívta rá a figyelmet, hogy bezzeg o nem a Microsoft eszközeivel ad elo. Helyette azért egy másik fizetossel sikerült elmondani, hogy milyen jó, hogy nem kerül semmibe az open source. Ami amúgy nagyon jó prezentációs alkalmazás. (Jutalom nélkül, mi lehetett az? Válaszokat ide várom a blogra.) A tartalom, mint mondtam érdekes volt. Persze lenne min vitatkozni, de ezt esetleg majd a konkrét téma kapcsán. Idén nem vettünk részt eloadóként, de szerintem jövore ez már változhat. Az esti program is nagyon jó volt, különösen Soma buvész lenyugözo trükkjei.

• Using an old PC case and power supply as a HDD Enclosure?

  I have 5 HDD and my computer is not handling the situation very well. hehe There are some towers that I can buy to put 4 of my drives out, but I'm thinking that I could use the power source of a failed computer I have and use it to power the 4 (or at least 3) of the drives. The data cables (SATA) will remain connected to the working computer (so no USB solution). The problem is that the power source will not work unless it is connected to the failing computer motherboard. Is there any way I could use the power source without plunging it to the old motherboard? Any "HOW-TO" links may be useful as well.

• SVN Export or Recursively Remove .SVN Folders

  I shared this script with a coworker yesterday. It doesn’t do much; it recursively deletes .svn folders from a source tree.  It comes in handy if you want to share your codebase or you get in a terrible spot with SVN and you just want to start all over. Just blow away all svn artifacts and use your mulligan. It’s true. You can nearly get the same result using the SVN export command which copies your source sans the .svn folders to an alternate location.  The catch is an export only includes those files/folders which exist under version control.  If you want a clean copy of your source – versioned or not – export just might not do. The contents of the .cmd file include the following: for /f "tokens=* delims=" %%i in (’dir /s /b /a:d *.svn’) do ( rd /s /q "%%i" ) Just download and drop the unzipped “SVN Cleanup.cmd” file into the root of the project, execute and away you go.  If you search around enough, I know you can find similar scripts and approaches elsewhere, but I’m still uploading my script for completeness and future reference. • How does the PPA fit into the scenario of publishing an application to the Ubuntu Software Center?

  I've been going through docs for the past couple of hours but I haven't understood what the PPA is? I have a cross-platform Java application that I'd like to publish to the Ubuntu Software Center. My application is open-source and I'm using Github. Apparently, publishing applications to the store isn't as simple as uploading a deb package - am I right? I need to create an account on Launchpad and put all my code there. I don't intend to move from Git to Bzr merely for the sake of publishing to the app store but luckily, one is able to set up source-code mirroring from Github to Launchpad. Since my application is still very premature, it'll have updates fairly often. When I build my application on my machine, do I simply go my Ubuntu App Developer page and upload the new DEB package or do they build my application from source? What exactly is the PPA for? I don't think I'll need too many of the Launchpad features so I'd like to stick to Github if possible. (Publishing for Ubuntu really isn't trivial. I can see why there are so many developers out there who haven't published their applications to the Ubuntu Software Center. Publishing an Android applications has been the easiest so far.)

• Google Analytics cookie across SagePay checkout

  We use SagePay's Server integration for our online payments. We use Google Analytics to track activity on our website and Google Ecommerce tracking to log transactions. In Google Analytics, under the Ecommerce view, it shows direct/none for source/medium, as the 1st party cookie is lost when visiting the external SagePay checkout pages before the customer is redirected to my confirmation page which tracks the transaction. In all the answers I have viewed when searching for a solution, the suggestion is to alter the tracking code to read _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'none']); _gaq.push(['_setAllowLinker', true]); but this needs to be implemented on all pages, including 3rd party domains (SagePay). As SagePay don't allow javascript in their template customisation, what can I do? Is there another way? • Running django custom management commands with supervisord

  I'd like to use supervisord to run some commands for my Django project but I keep getting the following error: supervisor.log: 2012-05-18 17:52:15,784 INFO spawnerr: can't find command 'source' If I remove the "source" command, the log shows the same error: can't find command 'python'. supervisord.conf excerpt: [program:django] directory=/home/mf/projects/djangopj/ command=beanstalkd -l 127.0.0.1 -p 11300 command=source /home/mf/virtualenvs/env/bin/activate command=python manage.py command1 command=python manage.py command2 user=mf autostart=true autorestart=true I tried removing the directory and adding the absolute path to the commands but I kept getting the same error.   I tried to build the linux kernel 3.0.4 on ubuntu 11.10 in virtualbox. Here are my steps: Download the source code tar xjvf linux-source-3.0.0.tar.bz2 cd linux-source-3.0.0 make menuconfig, changed nothing but used the default config and save to .config make Actually I think it should be 3.0.4 because from the Makefile I could see VERSION = 3 PATCHLEVEL = 0 SUBLEVEL = 4 EXTRAVERSION = Then at stage 2 which is to make modules, an error happened: ERROR: "__modver_version_show" [drivers/staging/rts5139/rts5139.ko] undefined! make[1]: *** [__modpost] Error 1 make: *** [modules] Error 2 Perhaps because 3.0.4 is a new release so that I can not find any same problem asked nor any solution to it.

• Reverse Engineer a .pyo python file

  I have 2 .pyo python files that I can convert to .py source files, but they don't compile perfectly as hinted by decompyle's verify. Therefore looking at the source code, I can tell that config.pyo simply had variables in in an array: ADMIN_USERIDS = [116901, 141, 349244, 39, 1159488] I would like to take the original .pyo and disassembly or whatever I need to do inorder to change one of these IDs. Or.... in model.pyo the source indicates a if (productsDeveloperId != self.getUserId()): All I would want to do is hex edit the != to be a == .....Simple with a windows exe program but I can't find a good python disassembler anywhere. Any suggestions are welcomed...I am new to reading bytecode and new to python as well.

• NoSQL Java API for MySQL Cluster: Questions & Answers

  The MySQL Cluster engineering team recently ran a live webinar, available now on-demand demonstrating the ClusterJ and ClusterJPA NoSQL APIs for MySQL Cluster, and how these can be used in building real-time, high scale Java-based services that require continuous availability. Attendees asked a number of great questions during the webinar, and I thought it would be useful to share those here, so others are also able to learn more about the Java NoSQL APIs. First, a little bit about why we developed these APIs and why they are interesting to Java developers. ClusterJ and Cluster JPA ClusterJ is a Java interface to MySQL Cluster that provides either a static or dynamic domain object model, similar to the data model used by JDO, JPA, and Hibernate. A simple API gives users extremely high performance for common operations: insert, delete, update, and query. ClusterJPA works with ClusterJ to extend functionality, including - Persistent classes - Relationships - Joins in queries - Lazy loading - Table and index creation from object model By eliminating data transformations via SQL, users get lower data access latency and higher throughput. In addition, Java developers have a more natural programming method to directly manage their data, with a complete, feature-rich solution for Object/Relational Mapping. As a result, the development of Java applications is simplified with faster development cycles resulting in accelerated time to market for new services. MySQL Cluster offers multiple NoSQL APIs alongside Java: - Memcached for a persistent, high performance, write-scalable Key/Value store, - HTTP/REST via an Apache module - C++ via the NDB API for the lowest absolute latency. Developers can use SQL as well as NoSQL APIs for access to the same data set via multiple query patterns – from simple Primary Key lookups or inserts to complex cross-shard JOINs using Adaptive Query Localization Marrying NoSQL and SQL access to an ACID-compliant database offers developers a number of benefits. MySQL Cluster’s distributed, shared-nothing architecture with auto-sharding and real time performance makes it a great fit for workloads requiring high volume OLTP. Users also get the added flexibility of being able to run real-time analytics across the same OLTP data set for real-time business insight. OK – hopefully you now have a better idea of why ClusterJ and JPA are available. Now, for the Q&A. Q & A Q. Why would I use Connector/J vs. ClusterJ? A. Partly it's a question of whether you prefer to work with SQL (Connector/J) or objects (ClusterJ). Performance of ClusterJ will be better as there is no need to pass through the MySQL Server. A ClusterJ operation can only act on a single table (e.g. no joins) - ClusterJPA extends that capability Q. Can I mix different APIs (ie ClusterJ, Connector/J) in our application for different query types? A. Yes. You can mix and match all of the API types, SQL, JDBC, ODBC, ClusterJ, Memcached, REST, C++. They all access the exact same data in the data nodes. Update through one API and new data is instantly visible to all of the others. Q. How many TCP connections would a SessionFactory instance create for a cluster of 8 data nodes? A. SessionFactory has a connection to the mgmd (management node) but otherwise is just a vehicle to create Sessions. Without using connection pooling, a SessionFactory will have one connection open with each data node. Using optional connection pooling allows multiple connections from the SessionFactory to increase throughput. Q. Can you give details of how Cluster J optimizes sharding to enhance performance of distributed query processing? A. Each data node in a cluster runs a Transaction Coordinator (TC), which begins and ends the transaction, but also serves as a resource to operate on the result rows. While an API node (such as a ClusterJ process) can send queries to any TC/data node, there are performance gains if the TC is where most of the result data is stored. ClusterJ computes the shard (partition) key to choose the data node where the row resides as the TC. Q. What happens if we perform two primary key lookups within the same transaction? Are they sent to the data node in one transaction? A. ClusterJ will send identical PK lookups to the same data node. Q. How is distributed query processing handled by MySQL Cluster ? A. If the data is split between data nodes then all of the information will be transparently combined and passed back to the application. The session will connect to a data node - typically by hashing the primary key - which then interacts with its neighboring nodes to collect the data needed to fulfil the query. Q. Can I use Foreign Keys with MySQL Cluster A. • Backing up Hyper-V VMs using "wbadmin" failing on Windows Server 2012

  I'm trying to backup a single VM using "wbdamin". I'm using this command-line: wbadmin start backup -backupTarget:d: -hyperv:VM_Machine_Name -quiet But the backup have no success. Looking at my Events, I get the following information: Source: SSP Event ID: 16387 Level: Error "Writer Microsoft Hyper-V VSS Writer experienced some error during snapshot creation. More info: ." ============================= Source: Backup Event ID: 521 Level: Error "The backup operation that started at '?2014?-?06?-?11T15:38:44.459000000Z' has failed because the Volume Shadow Copy Service operation to create a shadow copy of the volumes being backed up failed with following error code '0x8100010C'. Please review the event details for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved." ============================= Source: VSS No Event Errors. I didn't find any info about "0x8100010C" error code through the web and I'm stuck. Anyone know how to fix this?

• Designing a large database with multiple sources

  I have been tasked with redesigning, or at worst optimising the structure of a database for a data warehouse. Currently, the database has 4 other source databases (which is due to expand to X number of others), all of which have their own data structures, naming conventions etc. At the moment an overnight SSIS package pulls the data from the various source and then for each source coverts the data into a standardised, usable format. These tables are then appended to each other creating a 60m row, 40 column beast!. This table is then used in a variety of ways from an OLAP cube to a web front end. The structure has been in place for a very long time, and the work I have been able to prove the advantages of normalisation, and this is the way I would like to go. The problem for me is that the overnight process takes so long I don't then want to spend additional time normalising the last table into something usable. Can anyone offer any insight or ideas into the best way to restructure or optimise the database efficiently? Edit: All the databases are MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Thanks in advance CM

• Linking Libraries in iOS?

  This is probably a totally noob question but I have missing links in my mind when thinking about linking libraries in iOS. I usually just add a new library that's been cross compiled and set the build and linker paths without really know what I'm doing. I'm hoping someone can help me fill in some gaps. Let's take the OpenCV library for instance. I have this totally working btw because of a really well written tutorial( http://niw.at/articles/2009/03/14/using-opencv-on-iphone/en ), but I'm just wanting to know what is exactly going on. What I'm thinking is happening is that when I build OpenCV for iOS is that your creating object code that gets placed in the .a files. This object code is just the implementation files( .m ) compiled. One reason you would want to do this is to make it hard to see the source code and so that you don't have to compile that source code every time. The .h files won't be put in the library ( .a ). You include the .h in your source files and these header files communicate with the object code library ( .a ) in some way. You also have to include the header files for your library in the Build Path and the Library itself in the Linker Path. So, is the way I view linking libraries correct? If , not can someone correct me on this ?

That’s great news for Silverlight developers and to top it off the crew up at Microsoft even snuck in a few new features including intellisense for styles (a big deal in my opinion) and the ability to easily manipulate Grid rows and columns.  One of the most time consuming (and boring) tasks experienced by developers is also covered with the new “Go To Value Definition” feature that allows you to jump directly to style definitions with ease.  That feature alone is worth the upgrade especially if you’re working with a large application that uses a lot of styles. • A better way to encourage contributions to OSS

  Currently in the .NET world, most OSS projects are available via a NuGet package. Users have a very easy path towards *using* the project right away. But let’s say they encounter some isssue (maybe a bug, maybe a potential improvement) with the library. At this point, going from user to contributor (of a fix, or a good bug repro or even a spike for a new feature) is a very steep and non trivial multi-step process of registering with some open source hosting site (codeplex, github, bitbucket, etc.), learning how to grab the latest sources, build the project, formulate a patch (or fork the code), learn the source control software they use (mercurial, git, svn, tfs), install whatever tools are needed for it, read about the contributors workflow for the project (do you fork &amp; send pull requests? do you just send a patch file? do you just send a snippet? a unit test? etc.), and on, and on, and on. Granted, you may be lucky and already know the source control system the project uses, but in really, I’d say the chances are pretty low. I believe most developers *using* OSS are far from familiar with them, much less with contributing back to various projects. We OSS devs like to be on the cutting edge all the time, ya’ know, always jumping on the new SCC system, the new hosting site, the new agile way of managing work items, bug tracking, code reviews, etc. etc. etc.. • phpize: m4 error just in one extension

  On Linux, I installed php 5.3.8 from source. Using phpize for installing an extension works fine but not on one specific extension (mysqlnd). # cd /opt/php/5.3.8/ext/pdo && /opt/php/5.3.8/bin/phpize ... this runs ok # cd /opt/php/5.3.8/ext/mysqlnd && /opt/php/5.3.8/bin/phpize Cannot find config.m4. Make sure that you run '/opt/php/5.3.8/bin/phpize' in the top level source directory of the module` As you can see error can not be that I am not on top level source directory since I am. I tried to call phpize from ext folder - did not work either! For info I have m4 installed Any idea? Thanks :)

  I want to block all subnets outside the US. I've made a script that has all of the US subnets in it. I want to disallow or DROP all but my list. Can someone give me an example of how I can start by denying everything? • Allow certain users to access a specific directory?

  I'm trying to figure out how to allow certain users who are also me to access a directory of files that I want to use for all of my users. I'm using cPanel and I used WHM to create three separate accounts. The files I want to use are on account1 in the directory /home/account1/public_html/source/engines and I want the directory /home/account2/public_html/source/engines to use the same exact files without having to upload them to both places every time I change them, so I created a simple symbolic link and added account2 to the group account1 (while still keeping its own group as the primary). It still gives me a Permission Denied error though. Is there any way I can grant account2 and other accounts that I create for myself access to those files? I don't want them to be global to all users because I don't want my hosted users to be able to access them, only my users. groups account1 returns account1 : account1 groups account2 returns account2 : account2 account1 /home/account1/public_html/source/engines and all its files belongs to account1:account1 Any other information you might need just ask.
