• Running Services.msc as a different User C#

  Hi, I have a requirement to create a simple windows forms application that allows an admin user to manage the Services on remote servers. We don't want to give the admins the usernames and passwords to the servers so these will be encrypted and stored in a database. My question is whether or not it is possible to spawn a Services.msc window when impersonating one of the users stored within the database? I have looked at the ProcessStartInfo class but because Services.msc is not an executable it does not seem to like executing this. Any ideas on a simple way of doing the actual impersonation and loading of Services.msc - say off a button click? Thanks

• How do I preserve folder shares on a USB external drive?

  I'm using a WD Passport external hard drive with my notebook, and have a folder on this drive I need to share on my Windows network. Occasionally, when the drive is not plugged in, Windows appears to lose the shares, and I have to go in and share again after it's plugged in again. • Get rid of all user data of Android application after bigger update

  Hi, I completely revamped an app. Tested it for a while on my device and emulator. The app worked fine. However when I updated the app through the Android market, my users experienced crashes. Since there is no way to properly debug this procedure I asume the crash is caused by old data which is not being removed from the device (probably from the onsavedstate bundle?!). Is there a way to do a "clean/total" reinstall without having the user to do it manually? Best Regards Johe

• Tutorials for an experienced C# user to learn C++

  Are there any good resources for learning C++ that a C# user could use, which don't require knowledge of C? I have quite a good knowledge of C# via courses in my University's game development program (in a 300 level course right now) but now I need to use C++ for a project. I would use a beginner tutorial but they are so hard for me to follow and learn the basic syntax because they start so slowly. I found a few of tutorials for switching from C++ to C#, but none in the other direction. I do have a little bit of Objective C practice from iPhone programming as well.

  I don't know how to search about this so I'm kinda lost (the two topics I saw here were closed). I have a news website and I want to warn the user when a new data is inserted on the database. I want to do that like here on StackOverflow where we are warned without reloading the page or like in facebook where you are warned about new messages/notifications without reloading.   Hi, I'm just throwing this out there as I'm plodding my way through creating a Member Photo album on a site i'm working on, where they can login and upload their photos to a personal gallery. I want this to be nice and lightweight, but still slick and "modern" with a modal based interface for the user. I'm surprised though that there is seemingly nothing open source out there which fits the bill - I've done a few searches on Google to no avail and can't seem to find anything. Lots of bloated photo galleries out there but nothing looks like it has been developed using more recent technologies. Is anyone aware of anything which might suit what I'm looking for? I'm fully prepared to try and code it myself but I'd be delighted if I didn't have to! Pure laziness you might say, but there's no point reinventing the wheel.

  I've inherited a sharepoint wss 3.0 farm that is pulling users from 2 different domains, say domainA and domainB. So if I go into Add User and Browse, and type Smith, it is coming up with domainA\jsmith and domainB\jsmith. The company has moved away from domainA and uses only domainB now. So I want to remove domainA from the sharepoint configuration. I don't need to migrate existing sharepoint users, I just want for the domainA users to stop showing up when new users are added. I've been through every page I can find in Central Administration and I don't see where the names of the domain controller(s) are specified. It is using windows auth / NTLM.

• How can I choose a different Ubuntu One default local folder?

  I would like to tell Ubuntu One to sync with '~/Public/Ubuntu One' rather than '~/Ubuntu One'. Since I'm using it on Arch Linux, I don't have any right-click option for that. I tried to edit ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf and add the line root_dir = ~/new/folder (as suggested in this thread), but the file is automatically reverted to its previous state. Also, the command u1sdtool hangs and does apparently nothing - I have to use Ctrl + C to close it. Is there another way to setup the default Ubuntu One default local folder?

• Hudson build fails when a user logs out of RDP session

  We are using Hudson to build mixed C++/Java projects with an Ant script. It is running in Tomcat 6, on a Win XP virtual machine. I have noticed recently that when a user logs off the machine (from a remote desktop session), builds that are currently running tend to suddenly fail without an error message. Has anyone encountered anything similar or have an idea what might be causing this effect?   My application makes use of the sfGuardUser plugin. One of my tables has a relation onto the sf_guard_user table so there is a corresponding setSfGuardUser() function in the base model. From Actions.class.php, I am attempting to set the current user into the object using this function, (Which I then save in the database). my attempt: ->setSfGuardUser($this->getUser()); //called from inside Actions.class.php this throws an error: Couldn't call Doctrine_Core::set(), second argument should be an instance of Doctrine_Record or Doctrine_Null when setting one-to-one references. ...# at Doctrine_Record->coreSetRelated('sfGuardUser', object('myUser')) Which makes me think that getUser() is not returning a sfGuardUser object, though I don't know how to check this. Can anyone offer any insight?

• On my Mac, under the 'Shared' folder it shows another computer in my house, am I hacked?

  I didnt' setup any connection to another computer in my house (its a PC), and I just noticed under my 'Shared' folder in the file explorer on my Mac laptop I see the name of the PC. How could this have shown up when I didn't even try to connect to it before? Could I possibly be hacked or is this normal it just scanned our internal wireless network? I havent' setup any kind of network really, just have a wireless modem that other computers share.

• In Rails, what could cause a user to have another user's session?

  I have a Rails application using with an authentication system using Restful Authentication without any modification. Users have reported finding themselves logged in as the wrong user. In at least one case it was on their very first page view, never having logged in before. Is it possible their session ids are getting mixed up? Would switching to CookieStore make it impossible for this to happen since no session data is stored on the server this way? I suspect the problem is related to Passenger but I don't know where to start debugging this. Its only happened about 4 times in several months of being live so its virtually impossible to reproduce.   I've got a site where users follow users they like and can read their latest updates. I'd like to show my users a simple count of how many comments the people they follow have posted in the last 24 hours. I'm having trouble figuring out the query. I have two tables. comment -cid (comment id) -timestamp -uid (id of person who posted the comment) -comment (content of the comment) user_relationships -requester_id (id of the user who followed the person) -requestee_id (id of the person who was followed) In plain english, I think the query is something like this: COUNT the cid.comment from the comments table where uid.comment is equal to requestee_id.user_relationships associated with requester_id.user_relationships value of X. I need to get all the UIDs of people being followed by a given UID from the user_relationship table. Then count up how many comments those people have posted in the last 24 hours and spit that number out. What would this query look like?
