  I'm creating something where users can upload an xml and data get's imported to the database. Now I'm building some kind of a preview page where users will get to see how their input will look once it's stored. What would be the fastest (in execution time), using XSL to transform the xml to a html page, or using php to render the output? My guess is XSL is far more suitable (+ faster) for this (and by using a DTD there's no need for code written validation, right?)

  What is the best practice for creating an audio prompt within my app, which will append different portions of audio together to ask a question? ex. "What is" + "foo"? "What is" + "bar"? I have developed a "AudioQueue" object using audiotool box which uses AudioServicesPlaySystemSound() and it is working perfectly.   I am new to UML diagramming, but I'm trying to learn the ropes. Using a tool such as Visio or AgroUML how would you represent a .NET Datatype in your diagram? Two examples that I would like to do: DataTable List<MyObject> The only method I see right now is creating a class that represents a datatable. As far as representing collections, I can't find any method to do that. Thanks!

• Is it possible to generate a XSL-FO template from a PDF?

  Given a PDF document, is it possible to generate a XSL-FO (FOP) template? Obviously, this would be a one-time thing - the generated template would just be a starting point for creating a proper template that pulls in the appropriate data. For me, the ideal tool for doing so would be a Java-based one and should be executable from the command line or through an ANT task. Failing that, it would be something that runs on Linux and MacOS X.

  I have url connection, which normally works fine NSURLConnection *connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:delegate]; But when I create a modal window, no request ever receives response: [NSApp runModalForWindow:window]; If I comment this line out, thus creating a 'standard' window, everything works. I tried implementing all methods from NSURLConnectionDelegate, not a single of them called. I suspect this is something about 'run loops', but have little experience in this area. Does anybody have experience in this? Thank you

  Is there a good way to display the contents of a file as binary? I am creating a program that needs to save and load a 2D arrays from a files. When loading a saved file the result appears different. I need to be able to view the contents of the saved file in plain binary to tell if my problem in in my save or load function.   I'm creating a digg-like site using Ruby on Rails that ranks the item (based on this algorithm). I'm using the will-paginate gem list the items in pages. The problem is, will-paginate only allows me to insert ':order =' based on the table data. I would like to make will-paginate to sort by a number which is calculated using a function based on different fields on the table (e.g number of votes, age hours). How can I do that?

  Dear Cocoa Developers, I'm creating a backgrounded cocoa application. The only thing that it's missing is the ability to take text inputs! I'm making the application backgrounded by setting "Application is background only" in the Info.plist But no matter what I do I can't make any window the keyWindow. makeKeyWindow makeKeyAndOrderFront Both don't work...
