  • Symantec Gateway Security 320 VPN/Port Forwarding trouble

    How do I check to see if port forward is enabled with one of my dynamic tunnels on this device? I'm having trouble using a feature in our software that requires a vpn to be used. My firewalls shows it as connected but I'm unable to ping the subnet ip. Our software vendor told me that port forwarding might be causing this problem, but I didn't set up this network I'm on and I don't fully know symantec hardware.

  • Have Ubuntu auto-connect to wireless AP without logging in

    We have an ubuntu box set up to do some monitoring but due to the placement are unable to run CAT5 to the box itself. I have an Atheros PCI card that works great as long as someone is logged into Gnome and it doesn't disconnect from the AP during that time. Is there a way to have Ubuntu connect to the AP during boot, and always reconnect if it finds a signal from a specified AP? The box would have a static IP and only connecting to a specific AP using WEP.

  • How can I change exim's DKIM and SPF for emails sent?

    I've now spent 2 hours trying to figure out this issue and I am about to give up and go to bed. I've been having issues with Gmail rejecting emails from my VPS server because of false spam alerts (probably caused by lfd sending too many emails). So I changed my Exim config to send emails from a different IP (my VPS comes with 3) and that fixed the issue. I also enabled DKIM and SPF on my domains for added measure. But now, all my emails appear as ("From: Sender Name via server.domain1.com") where server.domain1.com is my VPS hostname. I previously had the same issue in Outlook and turning off "Set SMTP Sender: headers" solved that problem. But I believe adding the DKIM and SPF now makes Gmail add "via server.domain1.com" to my messages. How do I fix this?     Hello, I installed Ubunut and got the LAMP stack installed too. Now the problem is I have to be connected to the internet for the local apache webserver to work, else it does not. I changed the IP address on the dnshost, in the apache2.conf file, got the servername in the httpd.conf, which was empty. Any ideas guys. Thanks Jean

  • OpenWRT LAN clients don't see each

    I'm a beginner at using OpenWRT but I'm loving it already. Everything is running fine (internet, wifi) on all clients except one thing: the computers running in my LAN don't see each other. Pings to them or between them gives "destination host unreachable". This happens when using either the machine's IP's or their assigned hostnames. Running Backfire 10.03.1 - default settings everywhere except of course for the specific ISP stuff in the WAN. What's going on?

    When resolving FQDNs or machine names to IP addresses on my local network (mycompany.internal) I can use dig on the command line (linux/mac) or nslookup (windows) to query the configured server and get a response. But trying to enter the FQDN or even just the machine name in a ping command or in a web browser results in 'Unknown Host' or DNS errors. The DNS server is a SBS 2003 box which handles AD, some file/print, etc for a small company network. This issue happens to me about three times a week, and when I'm connected to the local network directly, the same switch as the server even. I can make any connection I want with IP addresses, I just can't make DNS work. Additionally, at the same time I'm experiencing this, other users are fine, which makes me think it's a problem on my Mac. But what sort of problem? How can dig send a query and get a reply, and ping say 'unknown host'? I'm posting here vs. serverfault because I think this is a local problem not a server problem...but if anyone can point me at the server, I guess we'll head down the street a domain or two.

  • How do I force my Graphite Airport to distribute 192.168.x addresses instead of 10.x.x addresses?

    I'm sharing a single IP address but there's no way to change what network it uses for distributing the private addresses via DHCP. My problem is that my VPN to work already uses the 10.x.x network, so I'd like my home to use 192.168.x. I've tried messing with the Network tab within the Airport Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow but nothing works. I'm hoping there's some way to hack the configuration file.

  • Sharing folder in a Virtual Private Windows Server 2008 R2 ?

    See Edit 2: Hello all, seems my involvement with computers has grown and I've found my self in the need to access a shared folder on a server. I've read some documentation and managed to set up the folder as a share, for this I created a local group and for now just one local user that has access to the share, the folder is in the public user folder and it's permissions should be (and I believe they are) read/write. The problem is that I can't connect from a remote machine I mean I don't know how the way it should be accessed, the server has a public IP and we use it also as a host to our website I don't know if that affects it though, the folder will be used as the "keeper" for the QuickBooks company files and has the database server manager installed. I've tried setting up a VPN Connection to the but no success. The server has a domain name a "http://www.example.com" that redirects to our website, I am unsure if it could be accessed that way, also the share has a location displayed when I right-click properties Heres what I've tried Setting up a VPN Connection (Windows Vista and 7) Got to the point where I got asked for credential and entered the user I created (which is not an admin) but I got a "Connection fail error 800" I suppose this is because in the domain field I entered the servers workgroup. right-click add network connection (Windows 7) Went through the wizard until I reached the point of entering the location, tried many things, the name in the share's properties(\\SOMETHING\Share), the http://www.example.com , the IP address I'm quite unfamiliar with this, so I have my guesses: Since the group and user are local they do not have access to the folder. The firewall in the server is blocking my connection. Anyways, any help and guidence is truly appreciated. EDIT 1: As @tony roth pointed out it may be a security fail, an I commented it out to management and said that that is not an issue, so please bare with me. EDIT 2: I've found out that the real question could be streamlined to "Sharing folder in a Virtual Private Server?", as thats what we have, a virtual private windows server 2008 R2, and I would like to know how to make it show like a normal folder in the client computer.     I am able to ssh into my ubuntu server with a user name and password from the terminal. However, when I try to connect to the server using the same name and password via pgadmin, I am getting the following error: could not connect to server: Operation timed out Is the server running on host "xx.xxx.xx.xxx" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432? Why am I able to connect through terminal but not pgadmin?

  • Default Critique branch office setup: VPNTunnel->HQ, subnets for VOIP/PC, + several Q's

    We're setting up a new branch office. * ~10 users. * Each user has a VOIP phone provided by a hosted solution. * Users need access to resources on HQ (located in another state), so setting up VPN tunnel * HQ only supports certain Cisco/Juniper devices. VOIP provider only supports SonicWall, so current plan is to have two routers w/ separate subnets for VOIP vs. PC traffic. * PC's will plug into pass-thru Ethernet jacks on the VOIP phones, but the phones vs. PC's will point to different subnets. * Cable Modem is 50Mbps / 5Mbps DOCSIS 3.0 business line w/ 5 static IP's. * Each of the 2 subnets will map to one of the 5 public IP's. * May or may not also need to support a VPN tunnel with a second branch office because of a file server they have there that some in the new office use. I'm pushing to have them move the files to a server on the HQ's network so we don't have to worry about setting up an additional tunnel. Questions: Do you foresee any issues with the below set-up? Router recommendations by HQ IT staff: Cisco Router 2811, or Juniper SSG5 or SSG20. Any recommendations about these routers? We need Wi-Fi too – looks like the above routers have models that support this, any reason not to use this? Users need to be able to work from home. If so, how is authentication handled? Right now we use AD credentials for the HQ's domain, but we currently don't plan to have an AD system in the new location since it's only 10 users. We can't tie the authentication system from the new location's router to the AD system of the HQ. All the PC's that will be in the new location are currently in the existing office that is closing down, and are already joined to the domain of the HQ. Please confirm: this + the VPN tunnel will be sufficient for them to connect to authenticated resources on the HQ's network from the new location, correct? Mainly SQL servers and file servers, and a few remote desktop sessions. I'm sure I'll have some more questions, but can't think of them right now.

    If I suspend and resume my VMware host (Workstation 6.5) Vista box, I have to manually restart the VMware NAT service or my guest Linux (Ubuntu) DNS requests won't resolve. I can ping boxes on the network by ip address, but just not resolve DNS. (My problem is related to the issue described here: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/185756) Any suggestions for why this is an issue? It is an annoyance!
