  • How to pick a chunksize for python multiprocessing with large datasets

    I am attempting to to use python to gain some performance on a task that can be highly parallelized using http://docs.python.org/library/multiprocessing. When looking at their library they say to use chunk size for very long iterables. Now, my iterable is not long, one of the dicts that it contains is huge: ~100000 entries, with tuples as keys and numpy arrays for values. How would I set the chunksize to handle this and how can I transfer this data quickly? Thank you.

    Because IE won't do document.getElementById(ID).setAttribute('type','password') I've re-engineered the way the password field woirks on this site: http://devdae.dialanexchange.com/Default.aspx so it works in accordance with this idea: http://www.folksonomy.org/2009/01/12/changing-input-type-from-text-to-password-in-internet-explorer-hack/ It works fine in IE8 and FF3. It breaks in IE7 just as you click into the password field. I'm now tearing my hair out. Can anyone give me a clue what's wrong as IE7's diagnosis is just "Object expected, code 0"?

  • Eclipse RCP Preferences Dialog Tree Size

    In my RCP application, I'm trying to use the Eclipse preferences dialog. I'm adding extensions to the "org.eclipse.ui.preferencePages" and preparing related IWorkbenchPreferencePage implementations. My preference page names are a bit long, so that they are not totally visible on the left side tree of the preferences dialog. Dragging the sash bar to the right increases the width of this tree, but it is resetted after the program is closed and reopened. Is it possible to increase the default width of this tree?

I've tried to setup a server side module, i created an SQL query but data is fetched only when the server boots. How can i make this work?

Since you can't rotate an image you have to rotate the canvas: if I rotate the canvas by a degree the origin around which I want to rotate changes. I don't get how to track this change.     Hi, I'm running through the Ruby on Rails tutorial at http://guides.rubyonrails.org/getting_started.html (adjusting where appropriate for Google's App Engine). All is well up till section 6.3: when I try to click "New Post", I get the following error: Internal Server Error (500) Request Method: GET Request URL: http://localhost:8080/500.html access denied (java.io.FilePermission /dev/urandom read) It works fine when I upload the application to Google's App Engine; it's just on my development machine (OS X 10.6) that it doesn't work.     Maybe this is just my unfamiliarity with unicode, so please correct me if I'm mistaken. Looking at http://json.org/, the spec says that a string can include "any UNICODE character", but this confuses me. JSON is a communication format correct? At the core of it, everything must translate down to bytes. In contrast, UNICODE is a logical format and must be encoded to be able to transmit it, right? So what did they mean there?

  • Using jQuery to disable CSS inheritance

    Is there a way to use jQuery (or generic javascript) to disable CSS inheritance on a block level? For example, if I am pulling in an external resource via javascript, say pastie.org, they will have their own CSS that my CSS overrides. I would like to place the embed code into its own container that has CSS inheritance disabled. This is not my own CSS structure, so I can't rename IDs Classes or inline anything to make it work, the holy grail of inheritance blocking is my last resort.
