Example: (After R&D of two days and a lot of disappointments) You just spend an hour with your PM to explain that some feature due to some problem you are unable to release this module in today's beta... after a lot of arguments you are given an hour to make your app work without this module. You sit on your workstation to make a release and all of a sudden you find what turns out to be a silly little problem.... (you solve it and prepare a desired build) did you face miracle (= sudden, positive surprises?) in your life?? what was your reaction in case you have come through such experience?? (N.B.   i am using lenovo b460 with 3 GB ram and 500 GB hard disk,(no graphics card). when i live boot Linux mint i was able to connect to WiFi.but when i booted up Ubuntu 11.4 i was not able to connect through WiFi.then later i installed Ubuntu 12.4 and then i got connected with WiFi, but after installing icons and themes through my unity i am not able to view the content in the terminal and the WiFi is also not connecting now even after i changed them all back. wireless connectivity

  My dual-boot machine has partitions as follows: sda1 50 GB NTFS sda2 15 GB unallocated sda3 20 GB ext3 sda4 20 GB ext4 I would like to allocate the unused space on sda2 to my Ubuntu partition on sda4, hopefully leaving the other two partitions untouched, leaving this configuration: sda1 50 GB NTFS sda3 20 GB ext3 sda4 35 GB ext4 Is this possible? If so, how can it be done, preferably using GParted?

  I have an issue with Google Analytics, can't seem to find a guide how to activate Demographics and Interests reports. I've been looking for a lot of the things people say to download, like myunity but when I search in the software center, nothing comes up, just stuff like magazines. Do I need to add some ppas for it to see them? What are some that I should add on a new install? And can anyone help me get myunity on here so I can start customising my desktop? Thanks

  I have read about Virtualbox using which we can run both windows and ubuntu parallely, but it seems that for this we have to make one host and install the other one using Virtualbox in it. (Please correct me if wrong) I am already using both ubuntu and windows on my pc (dual boot) and I want to run the already existing ones parallely instead of installing one of them again (don't want to install the softwares again).   Sometimes it can be for example 4500 requests, after a few hours it shows a few thousand less. What is wrong? It looks like analytics corrects itself. I changed from classic to Universal a few months ago, do not know if it has anything to do with this. • Can't access any storage devices on 12.10

  Hi I've just started using Ubuntu 12.10 (today!) my first time with any non-windows OS. I wanted to retrieve some files after windows stopped working. I boot Ubuntu from a USB and it seems to work fine - I can access the internet etc. But I can't access any of my drives or even a USB drive. The error I get is "Adding read ACL for uid 999 to `/media/ubuntu' failed: Operation not supported" Any help much appreciated:)

  I am trying to upgrade my ubuntu 11.10, i know that it is better to upgrade using a live cd/usb, i booted from the live usb, followed the instructions as usual, but only found three options: Cleen install Install alongside your other operating systems Other The upgrade choice was missing. I even tried installing it after running ubuntu 12.04 from usb, and ended up with the same result. I have a dual boot Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows 7, i think it is only seeing the windows 7 and missing the ubuntu 11.10 partition. Any help ?

• GUI stops responding after a few seconds

  I'm dual-booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04. When I boot Ubuntu, the interface doesn't respond to my requests. I can launch applications from the unity launcher, but when I try to close them it doesn't respond; even when I try to maximize it does nothing. I tried restarting the GUI, but after a few seconds it happens again. I had the same issue with older versions of Ubuntu and never figured it out.

• Why isn't persistence working on Lubuntu 12.04 Live-USB?

  I have used Universal-USB-Installer ever since to install different Linux versions to USB flash drive. But now with Lubuntu 12.04 even though I do the same process by selecting persistence file, it gets created but is never used in Lubuntu. Every time I boot into Lubuntu on flash, it is fresh new Lubuntu without my changes I did last time I have booted it. Anyone can help me or give me some hints ? Thanks in advance.

  My 1TB USB 3.0 was working fine earlier in Ubuntu as well as Windows. But lately it is not at all being detected in Ubuntu. It still works fine in Windows.   it's been almost a month I've installed ubuntu I can't afford windows cd anymore it is my fault that I didn't dual boot it but, it doesn't make sense in that I can't use my own graphic card in my own computer because certain company doesn't support the driver card for the OS it is seemingly ridiculous that I can't even run a simple 2d game or not even a flash game with this OS a video of 480 and up doesn't run for closely a month I've tried my best to run everything my computer spec provides, but nothing works. not even sound quality

  I want to build git on our embedded system and I got git's source code from here. I run ./configure tool with following arguments: ./configure --build=arm-eabi --host=`uname -p`-`uname -s`-`uname -o` Configure tool runs, and returns an error says: checking whether system succeeds to read fopen'ed directory...configure: error: in`/home/git-1.8.0.2`. I set necessary environment variables like CC and CXX to our tool chain already, so ./configure complains nothing about compilers. But I have no idea about that error message. It looks like some permission problem, but I have full permission of /home/git-1.8.0.2 for sure. Any idea ?

• What does "single-bit ECC errors were detected on the RAID controller" mean?

  I have a Dell T7600 with a Perc H710P RAID controller and 4 attached 3TB drives. Over the past few months the RAID controller has been intermittently reporting errors on boot: "no boot device found", "adapter at baseport is not responding", disks frequently reported as missing or failed. I have since replaced the RAID controller, the 4 hard drives, and finally the system's motherboard. After replacing the motherboard and rebooting a few times, I got the error Single bit ECC errors were detected on the RAID controller. Please contact technical support to resolve this issue. After rebooting about 20 more times, I haven't seen the ECC error. The system seems otherwise OK, except for the fact that the disk fans will sometimes start blowing at full blast when the the system is sitting completely idle and not stop until I reboot. Are the ECC errors in memory on the RAID controller? Or, does the RAID controller map in system memory, and the ECC errors are really in system memory? Or, are the ECC errors in the 1GB cache that resides in the RAID controller?

  We had a 3-drive Windows Server 2008 R2 RAID-5 fail (operating in redundancy mode): WDC 1 TB WDC 1 TB WDC 1 TB We removed the failed hard drive, and put a WDC 1 TB drive (that we had standing by) into the machine. When launched, Disk Manager, asked permission to "initialize" the disk as either: Master Boot Record (MBR) Guid Partition Table (GPT) We initialized the disk as GPT, converted it to dynamic, and tried to use the Repair Volume command - except it was greyed out. (which is a terrifying thing on a failed production server hosting 3 virtual servers) i tried from the diskpart command line tool. First we look for our RAID-5 volume that is in Failed Rd mode: DISKPART> list volume Volume ### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info ---------- --- ----------- ----- ---------- ------- --------- -------- Volume 0 E VMs (Raid5) NTFS RAID-5 1863 GB Failed Rd Volume 1 D DVD-ROM 0 B No Media Volume 2 System Rese NTFS Partition 100 MB Healthy System Volume 3 C NTFS Partition 1862 GB Healthy Boot There, Volume 0.
