• Headless gem: webkit_server: cannot connect to X server

  I've got some problems running capybara-webkit with the Headless gem, Xvfb and our ci server. We use this setup for automatic integration testing and javascript testing of our Ruby on Rails 3.2 app. During the tests it complains that webkit_server: cannot connect to X server But when I ps aux | grep Xvfb deploy 1602 0.0 0.1 61696 1912 pts/2 S+ Jul10 0:00 /usr/bin/Xvfb :99 -screen 0 1280x1024x24 -ac I see the Xvfb running. If I run the tests with --trace it also only shows the error log above and I can't debug the error. Any ideas how I could get some more information, or even a solution?

• CMake & ExternalProject: Fails to find specific file

  Hi, we have some dependency libraries in our repository. The main part is build with cmake. Now the cmake-makefiles shall build the dependency libraries, which do not have a cmake build system. For one specific library there is a "Makefile.squirrel" which should be used. • Do you have to install the REST starter kit in asp.net to access APIs?

  Hi, I'm currently trying to access a REST API for the first time using visual web developer 2008 express edition. Every article I have found says you have to install the WCF REST starter kit which is a .msi file, which would suggest that I have to install it on my machine and presumably our server too. My question is this. Is there a non installable version that I can use, e.g. just by dropping DLLs into the Bin directory and then using the classes contained. Or is there more to it than that and am I just getting very confused about how it works? Jon

• GnuPG Shell Script - Refuses to read password

  The script below used to work on Mac OS X, but, since moving it to Ubuntu, it doesn't seem to read from the password file at all. Even when I run it from the command line, no matter what I do, I get a popup prompt asking me for the password. As this will run via cron, I don't want this to happen... I want it to read the password from the file with no prompt. • Binning a numeric variable in R

  I have a vector X that contains positive numbers that I want to bin/discretize. For this vector, I want the numbers [0, 10) to show up just as they exist in the vector, but numbers [10,∞) to be 10+. I'm using: x <- c(0,1,3,4,2,4,2,5,43,432,34,2,34,2,342,3,4,2) binned.x <- as.factor(ifelse(x > 10,"10+",x)) but this feels klugey to me. Does anyone know a better solution or a different approach? mcpeterson

• SH/BASH - Scan a log file until some text occurs, then exit. How??

  Current working environment is OSX 10.4.11. My current script: #!/bin/sh tail -f log.txt | while read line do if echo $line | grep -q 'LOL CANDY'; then echo 'LOL MATCH FOUND' exit 0 fi done It works properly the first time, but on the second run and beyond it takes 2 occurrences of 'LOL CANDY' to appear before the script will exit, for whatever reason. And although I'm not sure it is specifically related, there is the problem of the "tail -f" staying open forever. Can someone please give me an example that will work without using tail -f? If you want you can give me a bash script, as OSX can handle sh, bash, and some other shells I think.

• ASMX Still slow after 'Generate serialization assembly'

  This question is related to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/784918/asmx-web-service-slow-first-request. I inherited a proxy to a legacy ASMX Service. Basically as the post above states, the first call performance is literally 10 times slower than the subsequent calls. I went ahead and turned on ‘Generate serialization assembly' on the project that contains the proxy. The 'serializers' assembly is actually generated. However, I haven't seen any performance increase at all. Do I need to do anything else other than make sure the 'serializers' assembly is in the client's bin directory? Do I have to 'link' the proxy to the 'serializers' assembly during proxy generation (wsdl.exe)? I guess I'm stuck at this point. J Saunders where u at? :)

  Hi, I've got a .net 3.5 vs2008 Excel addin. I've created an installer for it and have it working apart from the fact that I cant get an option in the prerequisites for VSTO 3.0 SP1. I have one for VSTO 3.0 and when I check the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\VSTOR30 directory it has vstor30.exe vstor30sp1-KB949258-x86.exe product.xml "en" directory. However when I build the installer only the vstor.exe file gets copied over to the bin directory. I need vstor3.0sp1 for the addin to work. If I manually install vstor sp1 then everything works fine.

• How to give an error when no options are given with optparse

  I'm try to work out how to use optparse, but I've come to a problem. My script (represented by this simplified example) takes a file, and does different things to it depending on options that are parsed to it. If no options are parsed nothing is done. It makes sense to me that because of this, an error should be given if no options are given by the user. I can't work out how to do this. Am I using options in the wrong way? • Cygwin bash syntax error - but script run perfectly well in Ubuntu

Ubuntu runs bash version 4.0+ whereas Cygwin runs 3.2.49; But I reckon version collision shall not be the cause of this, this code runs well under fedora 10 which is also using bash version 3.+ So basically I am wondering if there is a way to code my script once and for all so there are not to have this awful issue later on. • Code changes in the Dtsx file in an SSIS package not reflecting after deploying and running on the server

  I have some folder called Test-Deploy in which I keep all the dtsx files, manifest and configuration files. Whenever I want to deploy the ssis package, I run manifest file in this folder and deploy. My problem is I have to change one of the dtsx files out of it. So, I opened only that particular dtsx file BI studio, updated and built. After the build, I copied the dtsx file from bin folder and copied to my Test-Deploy folder. When I deployed and run this new package in the Test-Deploy folder, the changes I made are not reflecting in the result. I could not find any difference in the results before and after changing. My doubt is has it saved my previous dtsx file somewhere on the server and executing the same dtsx file instead of the new one?

• Visual Studio 2010 Publish Web feature not including all DLLs

  I have an ASP.NET MVC 2 application. Web project contains a reference to SomeProject SomeProject contains references to ExternalAssembly1 and ExternalAssembly2. SomeProject explicitly calls into ExternalAssembly1, but NOT ExternalAssembly2. ExternalAssembly1 calls into ExternalAssembly2 When I perform a local build everything is cool. All DLLs are included in the bin\debug folder. The problem is that when I use the Publish Web command in Visual Studio 2010, it deploys everything except ExternalAssembly2. It appears to ignore assemblies that aren't directly used (remember, ExternalAssembly2 is only used by ExternalAssembly1). Is there any way I can tell Visual Studio 2010 to include ExternalAssembly2?

I have gotten suggestions from people stating that I should perform logging using handlers in the application and use a "logger" object for logging from the API.   I want to create a binary executable for a relatively simple script that would not require people to install macruby or HotCocoa. The script is here. • Why am I unable to Debug my ASP.NET website in Visual Studio?

  I used to be able to attach to my w3wp process and Debug my web application, but this is not working anymore. I have no idea what changed to break this. My breakpoints simply have the "breakpoint will currently not be hit. The source code is different from the original version." What I have tried: Did a solution Clean. Did a solution Rebuild. Deleted the bin folder Restarted Visual Studio Restarted IIS Restarted my Computer Added a simple Response.Write to ensure that the latest DLL is being used. It is. Made sure that Debug ASP.NET is checked in my project properties. It is. Made sure that all my projects are compiled in my build configuration. They are. But none of these help. I attach to w3wp, but my breakpoints never get hit. Any ideas?
