• java get file paths

  hey everybody, I have a jsp page which contains the code which prints all files in a given directory and their file paths. The code is if (dir.isDirectory()) { File[] dirs = dir.listFiles(); for (File f : dirs) { if (f.isDirectory() && !f.isHidden()) { File files[] = f.listFiles(); for (File d : files) { if (d.isFile() && !d.isHidden()) { System.out.println(d.getName()+ d.getParent() + (d.length()/1024)); } } } if (f.isFile() && !f.isHidden()) { System.out.println(f.getName()+ f.getParent() + (f.length()/1024)); } } } The problem is that it prints the complete file path, which when accessed from tomcat is invalid. For example, the code spits out the following path: /usr/local/tomcat/sites/web_tech/images/scores/blah.jpg and I want it to only print the path up to /images ie /images/scores/blah.jpg I know I could just mess around with an actual string, ie splitting it or string matching, but is there an easier way to do it?   Hello, I am trying to get the code to list all the directories in a folder, change directory into that folder and get the name of the current folder. The code I have so far is below and isn't working at the minute. I seem to be getting the parent folder name. import os for directories in os.listdir(os.getcwd()): dir = os.path.join('/home/user/workspace', directories) os.chdir(dir) current = os.path.dirname(dir) new = str(current).split("-")[0] print new I also have other files in the folder but I do not want to list them. • Wordpress Taxonomy

  I am creating a Wordpress blog (no live link yet because it's still at a planning stage). I want to set up the following tag structure: Category 1: Services Tags: Web design, logo design, print design, etc etc. Category 2: Type of clients Tags: small businesses, large companies So each post will be tagged with one or more tags from Category 1, and one tag from Category 2. However, I heard that using more than one Category per post is a bad idea in terms of SEO? But then, how can I go about it? I don't want any SEO penalties, but I will need to somehow categorize each post using these 2 distinct categories. Should I create some custom taxonomies? That seems like an overkill to me. The solution is probably something rather simple but it just escapes me. I'm not very experienced with taxonomies so I'll appreciate any suggestions.

• how to ouput text to java console from servlet

  I have a servlet. But it is not working as desired. Hence for debugging purposes, I want to print statements to the java console(the one that can be opened using the java icon in taskbar). However, if I use System.out.println("message"), it doesnt display in java console. Is there any alternative way where I can display messages to the console from the servlet? Or can anyone suggest me an alternative way to display messages to any other console?

• How do I prevent a font from extending off the top of a textbox?

  I'm using a barcode font (IDAutomationMC39H) in an SSRS 2005 report I'm developing, and while it renders fine in the preview in BIDS, if I export the results to PDF, print the results, or do any of the above (including preview) in Report Manager, the barcode font is extending off the top of the textbox. The barcode itself is nearly 20px tall, even at only a 12pt size. I've tried changing the CanGrow value for the textbox, but it seems that even with that set off the barcode isn't pushing the bottom edge of the textbox downwards, it's simply extending over the top of the box. I've also tried resizing the textbox to allow it to contain the entire height of the font, but even with the VerticalAlign set to Bottom the barcode still sticks to the top of the textbox and overflows out the top. • java runtime tracing library to replace system.out.println

  Have you heard of any library which would allow me to set up a tracing for specific methods at runtime? Instead of adding (and removing) lots of System.out.println in my code (and having to re-compile and re-deploy) I would like to have a magic thing which would print out a line for each call of selected method without any change in the code. This would work without re-compiling, so some kind of JVM agent (or some non-standard JVM would be needed?). Sounds like a job for aspect programming? A typical scenario would be to start an application, configure the traced methods dynamically (in a separate file or similar) and then everytime a selected method is called a line with its name (and arguments) is printed out to System.out (or some log file). Naturally one could think of tens of additional features, but this basic set would be a great tool. BTW, I use Eclipse interactive debugger too, not only the System.out tracing technique, but both have some advantages and sometimes Eclipse is not enough.

• tcpdf - HTML table showing up way too small

  Hi folks. I'm using tcpdf (http://www.tcpdf.org/) to generate PDFs of some tables and images. The images are loaded without an issue, but I'm having issues with the writeHTML() function. I can't seem to control the font sizes or table width/height through the HTML, so I end up with a tiny, tiny, tiny table that you have to print of and squint at to even attempt reading. I've tried editing the table itself, CSS, even putting the table itself inside an h1, but nothing is changing the font size. I have the font size in tcpdf set to 16, but this also has no affect. Has anyone else run into this issue?

• Converting IPv4 or IPv6 address to a long for comparisons

  In order to check if an IPv4 or IPv6 address is within a certain range, I've got code that takes an IPv4 address, turns that into a long, then does that same conversion on the upper/lower bound of the subnet, then checks to see if the long is between those values.   int score = 0; char* fixedscore=(char*)score; . . . imgTxt = TTF_RenderText_Solid( font, fixedscore, fColor ); ^^ This doesn't work - looks like fixedscore is empty or doesn't exists. int score = 0; char* fixedscore=(char*)score; . . . imgTxt = TTF_RenderText_Solid( font, "Works fine", fColor ); ^^ Works fine, but... I guess converting int to char* doesn't really work. So how do you print scores in SDL? Oh and one more thing: why is the text so ugly? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

• How to override ggplot2's axis formatting?

  When you choose a log scale, ggplot2 formats the breaks like 10^x. I'd like it to not do that. For example, the code below should display a graph with ticks at 1, 2, 5 etc, not 10^0, 10^0.3, 10^0.69 etc. library(ggplot2) dfr <- data.frame(x = 1:100, y = rlnorm(100)) breaks <- as.vector(c(1, 2, 5) %o% 10^(-1:1)) p1 <- ggplot(dfr, aes(x, y)) + geom_point() + scale_y_log10(breaks = breaks) print(p1) I guess that adding a formatter argument to scale_y_log10 would do the trick, but I'm not sure what to put in the argument, or where the options might be documented.

  We are looking into silent printing of PDF documents from within Java. The printing will be invoked from the desktop and not through a browser so we cannot use JavaScript. PDF Renderer is an operational solution but their rendering quality is not acceptable. iText does not seem to be pluggable with the Java print service. There are some commercial Java libraries, jPDFPrint by Qoppa, JPedal, and ICEpdf which we have not tried out yet. Does anybody have any experience with PDF silent printing from Java?

  I'm compiling a simple program written in C and I'm using Eclipse as an IDE, both in Windows 7 and on my MacBook Pro. Very simple program my friend wrote and asked me to help him with: int a = 0; char b[2]; printf("Input first class info:\n"); printf("Credit Hours: \n"); scanf("%d", &a); printf("Letter Grade: "); scanf("%s", b); So when I run this on my mac, each line prints and when I encounter the scanf(), I can input and continue as expected. In Windows, I have to input everything and then it will print all the lines. I'm not sure why this is happening... what is the difference b/w Windows and Mac here? Just trying to keep this as simple as possible...

  I need to check if I Filesystem exists, and if it does exist there is 300 MB of space in it. • What's the right way to use idlestartup on python 2.6.5?

  Idlestartup is analogous to pythonstartup variable, but for IDLE, instead of command line. But it seems not to work properly. I'm using python 2.6.5 on Windows. I have the following script assigned to it: from pprint import pprint import sys newPath = 'C:\\Python26\test') sys.path.append(newPath) print "initial config loaded" Both variables Idlestartup and pythonstartup are assigned to the same file (script above). When running IDLE, pprint and sys are NOT available, the final message is NOT printed, but newPath was added to sys.path. Running the command line, pprint and sys are available, the final message is printed and newPath was added to sys.path. Is it a bug? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

• PHP - Short hand if statement with a date format with weird output.

  I am using a short hand notation of an if statement to format a field. If the field is an empty string I leave it as an empty string, if not then I am trying to format it to a proper datetime format so it can be inserted into a mysql db. here is my php code $date = ($date == '') ? date("Y-m-d", strtotime($date)) : $date; for some reason when the $date string is not empty it is returning it int he format 'm/d/Y' example: 04/01/2010 When I pull the code out of the shorthand if $date = date("Y-m-d", strtotime($date)); print($date); it is formatted correctly like this 'Y-m-d' or 2010-04-01. Does anyone know why this happens? Thanks

My question : New languages extend parent ones or there is some kind of a trick? e.g. System.out.print() in Java ; is it actually printf() in C, and so on (printf is actually .. in Cpl)? If so, doesn't this make every further language be slower and need more memory? What separates a new language from a framework?

• How to place text on top of image in ReportViewer

  I feel very silly asking this, since it seems like it just should work, but I cannot make it work and cannot find anything in the documentation about this. The problem: I'm developing an application in Visual Studio 2010 that is utilizing ReportViewer, rendering the report locally. In the report designer, I place a textbox on top of an image. This looks fine in the designer, but when rendering the report, the textbox is rendered below the image. Now, before you suggest it, I have tried placing a textbox on top of a rectangle (or other control) with the BackgroundImage property set. This works. But: I cannot find a way to rescale the background image to fit the control. Setting a different dpi for the background image does nothing. Simply rescaling the image to a different resolution is not an option, since I eventually want to print the report. Does anybody have a solution to this?

  I have a custom MyInputFormat that suppose to deal with record boundary problem for multi-lined inputs. But when I put the MyInputFormat into my UDF load function. I am wondering if anyone can provide a hint on how to hoop up my costome MyInputFormat to PIG's UDF loader? Much Thanks. I am using PIG on Amazon EMR.
