    Hi guys, About one percent of our users experience sudden crash while using our application. The logs show below exception, the only thing in common that I've seen so far is that, they all have XP SP3.   • ClassCastException When Calling an EJB Remotely that Exists on Same Server

    I have 2 ejbs. Ejb-A that calls Ejb-B. They are not in the same Ear. For portability Ejb-B may or may not exist on the same server. (There is an external property file that has the provider URLs of Ejb-B. I have no control over this.) Example Code: in Ejb-A EjbBDelegate delegateB = EjbBDelegateHelper.getRemoteDelegate(); // lookup from list of URLs from props... BookOfMagic bom = delegateB.getSomethingInteresting(); Use Cases/Outcomes: When Ejb-B DOES NOT EXIST on the same server as Ejb-A, everything works correctly. (it round-robbins through the URLs) When Ejb-B DOES EXIST on the same server, and Ejb-A happens to call Ejb-B on the same server, everything works correctly. When Ejb-B DOES EXIST on the same server, and Ejb-A calls Ejb-B on a different server, I get: javax.ejb.EJBException: nested exception is: java.lang.ClassCastException: $Proxy126 java.lang.ClassCastException: $Proxy126 I'm using Weblogic 10.0, Java 5, EJB3 Basically, if Ejb-B Exists on the server, it must be called ONLY on that server. Which leads me to believe that the class is getting loaded by a local classloader (on deployment?), then when called remotely, a different classloader is loading it. (causing the Exception) But it should work, as it should be Serialized into the destination classloader... What am I doing wrong?? Also, when reproducing this locally, Ejb-A would favor the Ejb-B on the same server, so it was difficult to reproduce. But this wasn't the case on other machines. NOTE: This all worked correctly for EJB2

    Our .NET 3.5 C# application creates multiple appdomains. Each appdomain loads the same unmanaged 3rd party dll. This dll reads a configuration file upon initialization. If the configuration changes during runtime, the dll must be unloaded and loaded again. This dll is not in our scope to rewrite correctly. Does each appdomain have access to a separtate copy of this unmanaged dll, or does Windows keep one copy of the dll and maintain a usage count? If the latter is is the case, how do we get each instance of the unmanaged dll to reflect its unique configuration?

    I have a bunch of Workflow foundation 4.0 RC code activities that consume web services and talk to databases that I want to add some error handling in. I would really like to be able to attempt to call my web service / db, catch any faults such as a communication failure and then retry the same operation in 1 hours time (after I have logged the exception).     Hi Experts, I would like to execute a R script simply as R --file=x.R It runs well on the command line. However when I try the system call in C++ by QProcess::execute("R --file=x.R"); or system("R --file=x.R"); the program R runs and quits but I can't see the output the program is supposed to generate. If a program uses no stdout (such as R), how do I fetch the output after a system call either as a output file or in the program's own console? Thanks for your time.

    Suppose I have two functions which look like this: public static void myFunction1(int a, int b, int c, string d) { //dostuff someoneelsesfunction(c,d); //dostuff2 } public static void myFunction2(int a, int b, int c, Stream d) { //dostuff someoneelsesfunction(c,d); //dostuff2 } What would be a good way to avoid repeated dostuff? Ideas I've thought of, but don't like: I could make d an object and cast at runtype based on type, but this strikes me as not being ideal; it removes a type check which was previously happening at compile time. I could also write a private helper class that takes an object and write both signatures as public functions. I could replace dostuff and dostuff2 with delegates or function calls or something.

    What is the normal behavior in Objective-C if you call a method on an object (pointer) that is nil (maybe because someone forgot to initialize it)? Shouldn't it generate some kind of an error (segmentation fault, null pointer exception...)? If this is normal behavior, is there a way of changing this behavior (by configuring the compiler) so that the program raises some kind of error / exception at runtime? To make it more clear what I am talking about, here's an example.     Hi I was following the method for asynchronously loading images into a listview as outlined in evan charlton's blog here. The problem I am having is that the setViewImage function is not being called by the system: @Override public void setViewImage(final ImageView image, final String value) { if (value != null && value.length() > 0 && image instanceof RemoteImageView) { RemoteImageView riv = (RemoteImageView) image; riv.setLocalURI(API.getCacheFileName(value)); riv.setRemoteURI(value); super.setViewImage(image, R.drawable.icon); } else { image.setVisibility(View.GONE); } } I have built his example code, and setViewImage is called fine - it seems to me that the code is functionally identical. Looking into the docs it says: First, if a SimpleAdapter.ViewBinder is available, setViewValue(android.view.View, Object, String) is invoked. If the returned value is true, binding has occured. If the returned value is false and the view to bind is a TextView, setViewText(TextView, String) is invoked. If the returned value is false and the view to bind is an ImageView, setViewImage(ImageView, int) or setViewImage(ImageView, String) is invoked. If no appropriate binding can be found, an IllegalStateException is thrown. I don't really understand how to debug (in eclipse) to find out how this process is occuring, advice on how to do so would be a help. Thanks.

    Newbie problem: I have a SQL SP with ten parameters (eight input, two output) but when I attempt to call it via LINQ from code I get the following error message: "The best overloaded method match for 'DataClassesDataContext.ST_CR_CREATE_CASE_BASIS(string, string, string, string, System.DateTime?, string, string, string, ref int?, ref int?)' has some invalid arguments". The params with ? appear to be unrecognized, but I'm baffled: the data types match the SQL types, the number of parameters match, the other parmeters don't exhibit the same behaviour. Can anyone tell me what's going on?     I've been working on a computational physics project (plotting related rates of chemical reactants with respect to eachother to show oscillatory behavior) with a fair amount of success. However, one of my simulations involves more than two active oscillating agents (five, in fact) which would obviously be unsuitable for any single visual plot... My scheme was hence to have the user select which two reactants they wanted plotted on the x-axis and y-axis respectively. I tried (foolishly) to convert string input values into the respective variable names, but I guess I need a radically different approach if any exist? I have this function - it should copy content of one file to another: static void test_splice( int in, int out ) { int i = 0, rcvd = 0; int filedes[2]; off_t off = 0; if ( pipe( filedes ) < 0 ) { perror( "Kicha pipe" ); exit( EXIT_FAILURE ); } for ( i = 0; i < NUMLOOPS; ++i ) { if ( ( rcvd = splice( in, NULL, filedes[1], NULL, BUFSIZE, SPLICE_F_MORE | SPLICE_F_MOVE ) ) < 0 ) { perror( "splice" ); exit( EXIT_FAILURE ); } if ( splice( filedes[0], NULL, out, NULL, rcvd, SPLICE_F_MORE | SPLICE_F_MOVE ) < 0 ) { perror( "splice" ); exit( EXIT_FAILURE ); } } } The second call to splice in first iteration returns EINVAL ( invalid argument from perror ) everytime - what could be the reason?
