  • User sumbitted top 5 and sort by popularity

    - by Bundy
Hi, Database setup (MySQL) table: top_fives id, uid, first, second, third, fourth, fifth, creation_date 1, 1, cheese, eggs, ham, bacon, ketchup, 2010-03-17 2, 2, mayonaise, cheese, ketchup, eggs, bacon, 2010-03-17 Users can submit their top 5 of a certain subject. Now I would like a summary of the top fives ordered by popularity. Each column has it's own point value. column 'first' is rewarded 5 points, 'second' four points, 'third' three points, and so on... So, in my example it should be something like this: 1 Cheese (9 points = 5 + 4 -> 1 time in 'first' column and 1 time in 'second' column) 2 Eggs (6 points) 3 Mayonaise (5 points) 4 Ketchup (4 points) 5 Bacon (3 points) 6 Ham (3 points) What would be the easiest solution (PHP) for this kind of situation? Thanks in advance

  • sort the "rollup" in group by

    - by shantanuo
    I found that the "with rollup" option used with group by is very useful. But it does not behave with "order by" clause. Is there any way to order by the way I want as well as calculate the sub-totals? CREATE TABLE `mygroup` ( `id` int(11) default NULL, `country` varchar(100) default NULL ) ENGINE=MyISAM ; INSERT INTO `mygroup` VALUES (1,'India'),(5,'India'),(8,'India'),(18,'China'),(28,'China'),(28,'China'); mysql>select country, sum(id) from mygroup group by country with rollup; +---------+---------+ | country | sum(id) | +---------+---------+ | China | 74 | | India | 14 | | NULL | 88 | +---------+---------+ 3 rows in set (0.00 sec) mysql>select country, sum(id) as cnt from mygroup group by country order by cnt ; +---------+------+ | country | cnt | +---------+------+ | India | 14 | | China | 74 | +---------+------+ 2 rows in set (0.00 sec) mysql>select country, sum(id) as cnt from mygroup group by country with rollup order by cnt; ERROR 1221 (HY000): Incorrect usage of CUBE/ROLLUP and ORDER BY Expected Result: +---------+------+ | country | cnt | +---------+------+ | India | 14 | | China | 74 | | NULL | 88 | +---------+---------+ 3 rows in set (0.00 sec)

  • Sharepoint Blog Posts : Sort based on Published date

    - by Hojo
I have a sharepoint intranet portal which has many blogs and they have customized design. We use default Data form webpart for displaying blog posts. By default the posts are sorted based on "created date". I have a new requirement from the client asking me to change the sorting criteria to "Published date". What is the easiest method to achieve this without using SharePoint Designer . Note: Creating a new view is not a solution as I will not be able to apply the customized design.

  • Gravity Sort : Is this possible programatically?

    - by Bragaadeesh
Hi, I've been thinking recently on using the Object Oriented design in the sorting algorithm. However I was not able to find a proper way to even come closer in making this sorting algorithm that does the sorting in O(n) time. Ok, here is what I've been thinking for a week. I have a set of input data. I will assign a mass to each of the input data (assume input data a type of Mass). I will be placing all my input data in the space all at same distance from earth. And I will make them free fall. According to gravitational law, the heaviest one hits the ground first. And the order in which they hit will give me the sorted data. This is funny in some way, but underneath I feel that this should be possible using the OO that I have learnt till date Is it really possible to make a sorting technique that uses gravitational pull like scenario or am I stupid/crazy?

  • Sort NSArray of custom objects based on sorting of another NSArray of strings

    - by Nic Hubbard
I have two NSArray objects that I would like to be sorted the same. One contains NSString objects, the other custom Attribute objects. Here is what my "key" NSArray looks like: // The master order NSArray *stringOrder = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"12", @"10", @"2", nil]; The NSArray with custom objects: // The array of custom Attribute objects that I want sorted by the stringOrder array NSMutableArray *items = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; Attribute *attribute = nil; attribute = [[Attribute alloc] init]; attribute.assetID = @"10"; [items addObject:attribute]; attribute = [[Attribute alloc] init]; attribute.assetID = @"12"; [items addObject:attribute]; attribute = [[Attribute alloc] init]; attribute.assetID = @"2"; [items addObject:attribute]; So, what I would like to do is use the stringOrder array to determine the sorting of the items array of custom objects. How can I do this?

  • Why might stable_sort be affecting my hashtable values?

    - by zebraman
I have defined a struct ABC to contain an int ID, string NAME, string LAST_NAME; My procedure is this: Read in a line from an input file. Parse each line into first name and last name and insert into the ABC struct. Also, the struct's ID is given by the number of the input line. Then, push_back the struct into a vector masterlist. I am also hashing these to a hashtable defined as vector< vector , using first name and last name as keywords. That is, If my data is: Garfield Cat Snoopy Dog Cat Man Then for the keyword cash hashes to a vector containing Garfield Cat and Cat Man. I insert the structs into the hashtable using push_back again. The problem is, when I call stable_sort on my masterlist, my hashtable is affected for some reason. I thought it might be happening since the songs are being ordered differently, so I tried making a copy of the masterlist and sorting it and it still affects the hashtable though the original masterlist is unaffected. Any ideas why this might be happening?

  • jqGrid formatter and sortable column - doesn't sort

    - by HeavyWave
    I am using a custom formatter for my jqGrid columnModel and I can't get sorting to work with formatter functions. If I remove formatter column sorts normally. colModel: [ { name: 'status', index: 'status', width: 18, sorttype: 'int', align: 'center', formatter: function(cellvalue, options, rowObject) { return cellvalue == 1 ? "<img src='images/agent_green_s.png' alt='Ready' title='Ready' />" : cellvalue == 3 ? "<img src='images/agent_red_s.png' alt='Busy' title='Busy' />" : "<img src='images/agent_orange_s.png' alt='Pending Ready' title='Pending Ready' />"; } How do I get sorting to work properly?

  • PHP Inverting content adding (sorting)

    - by Adrian
Hello, I have this code which will include "template.php" file from inside each of these folders: "content/templates/id1", "content/templates/id2", "content/templates/id3" etc. etc. $page_file = basename(__FILE__, ".php"); require("content/" . $page_file . "/content.php"); $iterator = new RecursiveIteratorIterator( new RecursiveDirectoryIterator($page_path), RecursiveIteratorIterator::SELF_FIRST); foreach($iterator as $file) { if($file->isDir()) { include strtoupper($file . '/template.php'); } } This code works pretty well, the problem is I want to inverse the content adding, meaning that I want first "content/templates/id9/template.php" included before "id8/template.php" and so on till the first.. How can I do this by modifying the code above? A million thanks!

What other circular dependencies exist / are allowed between objects? I tried to create cycles between Views but Oracle successfully rejected that.

  • Sort file as Month name in ColdFusion

    - by Simon Guo
I have a directory, it contains files like: january2009.xml, february2009.xml, march2009.xml,april2009.xml,january2010.xml, february2010.xml, march2010.xml,april2010.xml ... I use the cfdirectory to get the file by year. Right now, I want to display it as sorted order in month. Say If I only want year 2009 data. I want it sorted as january2009.xml, february2009.xml, march2009.xml,april2009.xml but not april2009.xml, february2009.xml, january2009.xml, march2009.xml Anyone has easy way to do it in ColdFusion?

  • jqGrid Sort or Search does not work with columns having json dot notation

    - by rsmoorthy
I have this jqGrid: $("#report").jqGrid( { url: '/py/db?coll=report', datatype: 'json', height: 250, colNames: ['ACN', 'Status', 'Amount'], colModel: [ {name:'acn', sortable:true}, {name:'meta.status', sortable:true}, {name:amount} ], caption: 'Show Report', rownumbers: true, gridview: true, rowNum: 10, rowList: [10,20,30], pager: '#report_pager', viewrecords: true, sortname: 'acn', sortorder: "desc", altRows: true, loadonce: true, mtype: "GET", rowTotal: 1000, jsonReader: { root: "rows", page: "page", total: "total", records: "records", repeatitems: false, id: "acn" } }); Notice that the column 'meta.status' is in JSON dot notation and accordingly the data sent from the server is like this: {"page": "1", "total": "1", "records": "5", "rows": [ {"acn":1,"meta": {"status":"Confirmed"}, "amount": 50}, {"acn":2,"meta": {"status":"Started"}, "amount": 51}, {"acn":3,"meta": {"status":"Stopped"}, "amount": 52}, {"acn":4,"meta": {"status":"Working"}, "amount": 53}, {"acn":5,"meta": {"status":"Started"}, "amount": 54} ] } The problems are of two fold: Sorting does not work on columns with dot notation, here "meta.status". It does not even show the sortable icons on the column header, and nothing happens even if the header is clicked. Sorting does not work, whether loadonce is true or false. If I try Searching (after setting loadonce to true) for the column meta.status (other columns without dot notation is okay), then it throws up a javascript error like this. Any help? Thanks Moorthy

  • Ruby -- looking for some sort of "Regexp unescape" method

    - by RubyNoobie
I have a bunch of strings that appear to have been double-escaped -- eg, I have "\\014\"\\000\"\\016smoothing\"\\011mean\"\\022color\"\\011zero@\\016" but I want "\014"\000"\016smoothing"\011mean"\022color"\011zero@\016" Is there a method I can use to unescape them? I imagine that I could make a regex to remove 1 backslash from every consecutive n backslashes, but I don't have a lot of regex experience and it seems there ought to be a "more elegant" way to do it. For example, when I puts MyString it displays the output I'd like, but I don't know how I might capture that into a variable. Thanks! Edited to add context: I have this class that is being used to marshal / restore some stuff, but when I restore some old strings it spits out a type error which I've determined is because they weren't -- for some inexplicable reason -- stored as base64. They instead appear to be 'double-escaped', when I need them to be 'single-escaped' to get restored. require 'base64' class MarshaledStuff < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :marshaled_obj def contents obj = self.marshaled_obj return Marshal.restore(Base64.decode64(obj)) end def contents=(newcontents) self.marshaled_obj = Base64.encode64(Marshal.dump(newcontents)) end end
