  • need advice on Zend framework Application architecture, or say approach dealing with modules

    Let me start with the things that I did and how am I using some things to get results I have set up modular structure as: application/ /configs /layouts /models /modules /users /profile /frontend /backend /controllers /views .... I write a plugin that does addes changes with FrontController-setModuleControllerDirectoryName() FrontController-addModuleDirectory() and It is all good I have a changed all the directories according weather admin page is requested in the url or not (it is some thing like /admin/some/some) Let's say I have a single layout for anything that is related to Profile viewing , in this case the "Profile" module. The Profile layout is divided into three parts In the layout I was pulling out the Profile/PhotoController 's index action with a action() $this->action('index', 'photo', 'profile'); Then I have faced few issues 1. Can get passed Params inside the Photo Controller when calling ( profile/profile/index); 2. found out that helper Action() is evil cause it starts another dispatching loop =) --- and now I am thinking that my approach on plugging in controllers modules into layout also evil =). anyhow how Should I deal with plugging in some controllers (another module controllers) into the layout ?

  • Multiple on-screen view controllers in iPhone apps

    I'm creating a lot of custom views and controllers in a lot of my apps and so far I've mostly set them up programmatically, with adjustments and instantiations being controlled from plists. However, now I'm transitioning to using Interface Builder as much as possible (wish I had done that before, was always on my back-list). Apple is recommending against having many view controllers being simultaneously active in iPhone apps, with a couple of well-known exceptions. I've never fully understood why it should be bad to have different parts of the interface belong to different controllers, if they have no interdependent functionality at all. Does having multiple controllers risk messing up the responder chain, or is there some other reason that it's not recommended, except for the fact that it's usually not needed? What I want to be able to do is design reusable views and controls in IB, but since a nib is not associated with a view, but with a view controller, it seems I'd have to have different parts of the screen be connected to different controllers. I know it's possible to have other objects than view controllers being instantiated from nibs. Should I look into how to create my own alternative more light-weight controllers (that could be sub-controllers of a UIViewController) which could be instantiated from nibs?

The error thrown is OutputStream is not available when a custom TextWriter is used.

  • Handling ID's with db4o and ASP.NET MVC2

    So, i'm looking at the TekPub sample for ASP.NET MVC2 (http://mvcstarter.codeplex.com/) using DB4o and there are a bunch of templates to create controllers etc, the generated code looks like: public ActionResult Details(int id) { var item = _session.Single<Account>(x=>x.ID == id); return View(item); } Now, my understanding is that using DB4o or a simliar object database that ID's are not required, so how/what exactly do I pass to enable this kind of templated code to function? UPDATE: Both answers were useful, I have modifed the templates to use GUID as the ID. I will add any relevant code/notes here once I see how it works out.

  • Why is the EntityManager in my GAE + Spring (+graniteds) project reset to null?

    Hi all, I'm having a problem with autowiring my EntityManager. Actually at server startup I can see that the injection works ok, though when trying to use my EntityManager it appears to be null again. @Component public class DataDaoImpl { protected EntityManager entityManager; @Autowired public void setEntityManager(EntityManager entityManager) { System.out.println("Injecting "+entityManager); //works! this.entityManager = entityManager; } public void createData(String key, String value) { System.out.println("In createData entityManager is "+entityManager); //entityManager null!? ... Output: Injecting org.datanucleus.store.appengine.jpa.DatastoreEntityManager@a60d19 The server is running at http://localhost:8888/ In createData entityManager is null So somehow the autowired entityManager is reset to null when trying to use it. It's a graniteds powered project though I don't think this is graniteds related. Any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance, Jochen

  • How can I map stored procedure result into a custom class with linq-to-sql?

    I have a stored procedure that returns a result set (4 columns x n Rows). The data is based on multiple tables within my database and provides a summary for each department within a corporate. Here is sample: usp_GetDepartmentSummary DeptName EmployeeCount Male Female HR 12 5 7 etc... I am using linq-to-sql to retrieve data from my database (nb - have to use sproc as it is something I have inherited). I would like to call the above sproc and map into a department class: public class Department { public string DeptName {get; set;} public int EmployeeCount {get; set;} public int MaleCount {get; set;} public int FemaleCount {get; set;} } In VS2008, I can drag and drop my sproc onto the methods pane of the linq-to-sql designer. When I examine the designer.cs the return type for this sproc is defined as: ISingleResult<usp_GetDepartmentSummaryResult> What I would like to do is amend this somehow so that it returns a Department type so that I can pass the results of the sproc as a strongly typed view: <% foreach (var dept in Model) { %> <ul> <li class="deptname"><%= dept.DeptName %></li> <li class="deptname"><%= dept.EmployeeCount %></li> etc... Any ideas how to achieve this? NB - I have tried amending the designer.cs and dbml xml file directly but with limited success.     I guess these are all questions that everyone must just know, because I'm not seeing this in the documentation :-D I understand that the public folder is the folder that the world has access to. I know it is the case with the css folder, but in migrating a traditional php website over, will my /images folder, /js folder /mp3s, etc Will those all just also be public folders that will be accessed via the layout or view.phtml pages? Thanks!

The form contains inputs such as "Name" and "Gender", but I am just trying to get the auto completion to work with the "Name" field.     I'm using LINQ to SQL to connect my database to my home page. I created my datacontext (named businessModel.dbml) In it I have two tables named Category and Business.   • Can I use my Ninject .NET project within Orchard CMS?

    I am creating a website using Orchard CMS and I have an external .NET project written with Ninject for dependency injection which I would like to use together with a module within Orchard CMS. I know that Orchard uses Autofac for dependency injection and this is causing me problems since I never worked with DI before. I have created a Autofac module UserModule which registers the source UserRegistrationSource and I configured Orchard to load the module like this: OrchardStarter.cs .... builder.RegisterModule(new UserModule()); ....   • Strange menu issue

    Just started out with Orchard and trying to just make pages and menus. I'm running into an issue where on my home page my menu shows: Home, Fruit, Vegetable, Carrot. I want it to show just Home, Fruit, Vegetable and when I click the respective item it adds the proper tabs. It DOES do it with Banana. ie: When I click Fruit, it shows Banana in the menu. But it always shows Carrot for some reason! I have the following setup. Navigation -Main Menu --Home --Fruit --Vegetable -Fruit Menu --Banana -Vegetable Menu --Carrot Widgits > Navigation > Main Menu, Fruit Menu, Vegetable Menu (Fruit and Vegetable Menus are in their own respective layers.) Path Examples: /Fruit, /Fruit/Banana, /Vegetable, /Vegetable/Carrot Thanks in advance.

    Hopefully a simple question: I've a plugin which uses a set of tables (kb_items, kb_item_tags, etc). and I'd like to be able to access these models from another controller (say, my Pages controller), thus: class PagesController extends AppController{ function knowledgebase(){ $items = $this->KbItem->findAll(...); } } I am admittedly breaking the rules a little (by not placing this controller inside the knowledge base plugin), but this in this case its a custom page that doesn't need to be part of the knowledge base plugin code base.   • Postback not working with ASP.NET Routing (Validation of viewstate MAC failed)

I'm using the ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 System.Web.Routing with classic WebForms, as described in http://chriscavanagh.wordpress.com/2008/04/25/systemwebrouting-with-webforms-sample/ All works fine, I have custom SEO urls and even the postback works. But there is a case where the postback always fails and I get a: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Here is the scenario to reproduce the error: Create a standard webform mypage.aspx with a button Create a Route that maps "a/b/{id}" to "~/mypage.aspx" When you execute the site, you can navigate http://localhost:XXXX/a/b/something the page works. But when you press the button you get the error. The error doen't happen when the Route is just "a/{id}". It seems to be related to the number of sub-paths in the url. If there are at least 2 sub-paths the viewstate validation fails. You get the error even with EnableViewStateMac="false". Any ideas? Is it a bug? Thanks

  • How do I create a dynamic data transfer object dynamically from ADO.net model

    I have a pretty simple database with 5 tables, PK's and relationships setup, etc. I also have an ASP.net MVC3 project I'm using to create simple web services to feed JSON/XML to a mobile app using post/get. To access my data I'm using an ADO.net entity model class to handle generation of the entities, etc. Due to issues with serialization/circular references created by the auto-generated relations from ADO.net entity model, I've been forced to create "Data transfer objects" to strip out the relations and data that doesn't need to be transferred. Question 1: is there an easier way to create DTOs using the entity framework itself? IE, specify only the entity properties I want to convert to Jsonresults? I don't wish to use any 3rd party frameworks if I can help it. Question 2: A side question for Entity Framework, say I create an ADO.net entity model in one project within a solution. Because that model relies on the connection to the database specified in project A, can project B somehow use that model with a similar connection? Both projects are in the same solution. Thanks!

Given the following url: www.mydomain.com/contentitem/234 I need to map all requests that come to /contentitem/{numeric value} mapped to a given controller with the "numeric value" passed as a parameter to the controller. Right now in my servlet container xml I have simple mappings similar to the following: ... <entry key="/index.html"> <ref bean="homeController" /> </entry> ... I am just wondering what I need to add to the mapping in order to achieve what I described? Edit: I unaccepted the answer temporarily because I can't seem to figure out how to do the mapping in my web.xml (I am using annotations as described in axtavt's answer below). How do I add a proper <url-pattern>..</url-pattern> in my <servlet-mapping> so that the request for "/contentitem/{numeric_value}" gets properly picked up? Thanks!
