• Add a subdomain that is hosted elsewhere

  Hi, I am quite inexperienced with DNS, so this might be simple. Our main domain foo.com is hosted at provider A. Now, we would like to host bar.foo.com at some other provider B - they have the domain set up with them, so I figure that I can do this by somehow adding the nameserver at provider B to the DNS configuration at provider A. • Mapped drives not showing in first run of Windows Explorer

  We have a couple of users whose mapped drives don't always appear in Windows Explorer when they initially log in. "net use" shows the drives are mapped correctly and they can see them in File Open dialogs in other applications. However they don't appear in Windows Explorer. The current workaround we have is to kill Windows Explorer and then immediately start it again, then they do reliably appear. Any ideas?

• Can't sync time between domain controller and another servers/computers (windows 2003)

  Good morning, We have domain controller on windows server 2003 and another windows 2003 servers with terminal server and DB and regular workstations. Today in Israel we returned back to winter time (one hour back), domain controller now shows current time but all another machines in network show different time they went two hour back and there's difference in one hour between domain controller and another machines. I have tried to perform W32tm /resync /update but without success, where can be problem? Thank you.

• What are the good alternatives to Windows Movie Maker in Vista?

  Short of getting a Mac and using iMovie, what are the alternatives that you'll recommend to a non-profit organization that needs to produce simple (but polished) videos to showcase their community service activities to raise funds. Currently they are using Windows Movie Maker but have sort of outgrown it. I installed Jashaka for them, and understandably, they couldn't grok it at all. Their current system is powerful enough to handle most video editing tasks.

• firefox 12 turn off Inspect Element (Q)

  Go the new FF12 and I hit the "Inspect Element (Q)", i'm use to hitting "Inspect" and getting FireBug, now i get the FF inspection tool. It looks nice, but how do i turn it off? Not disable it, but stop inspecting the current page? I have to close the tab, when working on a large web application, have to sign back in and re-setup everything i was testing to get back to a normal view. Big waste of time.

Is there any free software that anyone has used that can do this? I know the .m2ts is the container so I am not sure just doing a rename of the extension to .mts is valid. It works but I am not sure it is actually producing an mts stream.

  Can anyone recommend a good wireless (802.11g) range extender? I would like to find something that will provide reliable wireless to areas of the building that aren't covered or get poor reception. I would also like a product that won't require big changes to my current wireless setup (multiple APs with a wireless controller are out). Latency and bandwidth aren't terribly important. • Port forwarding to a computer with two NICs

  I have a laptop which occasionally uses Ethernet and most of the time WiFi. Now I want to forward a port in the router so that it always points to my current IP. I'm likely to get different IPs from time to time and I can't really use a dedicated IP for the machine since the IPs are assigned by MAC address and the wireless card has a different MAC address than the Ethernet port.   I have one monitor and a projector connecting to my computer, while the screen keep flashing after every 10 seconds, it seems the resolution keeps changing. The project is the a dual display for the monitor. They displays the same content. My current resolution is 1024*768, while after 10 seconds around, the resolution goes to something big, then after a few seconds, it goes back to 1024*768. I wonder if this is a problem about the resolution, or it's about the compatible of screen display?

• Is it bad to have the Reverse DNS for two IPs point to the same domain name?

  I am in the process of setting up a new server for my domain (the site will be moved, it is not for load balancing or the like), which has a different IP address from my existing server. My current server has a reverse DNS PTR record set up pointing its IP to mydomain.com. Is it bad to set up a reverse DNS PTR record for the new IP pointing to mydomain.com as well? Or should I wait until I do my migration to set up the record?

• Extracting one file from archive: 7-zip requires decompressing entire archive?

  I've noticed that when browsing an archive containing multiple files with 7-zip 9.20 Windows GUI, extracting one file for previewing takes significantly longer with .7z than .rar archives. With .7zips it also cycles through the filenames in the archive. To me it looks like decompressing the entire archive and keeping just one file. Is there a setting in 7-zip (current or beta/alpha versions) that allows RAR-like behavior?

• Cannot right click desktop windows xp

  This occurred after a Trojan incident. We managed to get the Trojan cleaned off the computer, but now we can't Right click the desktop. We have tried changing HKCU/software/microsoft/windows/current version/policies/explorer/noviewcontextmenu in the registry, and group policy user configuration/administrative templates/windows explorer/remove windows explorers default context menu, but neither worked. How do we reenable the right-click menu for the desktop? (it works everywhere else)
