  • ASP.NET Ajax control toolkit not shown in VS 2008

    I have downloaded the Ajax control toolkit; I have created a new tab in VS 2008 (SP1) toolbox, added the controls from the AjaxControlToolkit.dll,everything went fine. When I removed the toolbox and tried to perform the same steps as above, it didn't work anymore... That is, in the window shown for the "Choose items", the controls are't anutomatically added to the list, as before. What should I do?

  • Pop-up Window was moved but its image still left behind.

    Hi, I'm using VS 2005 and .NET framework 2.0 SP2 to build an application with a datagridview in it. I'm using Microsoft Word 11.0 Object Library to do the spelling checker on one of the field in datagridview. When it detected a spelling and grammar window would pop-up open on top of the datagridview. The problem I got was when I moved the pop-up window to the new location, there's still an image of the pop-up window left behind the previous location. The more I moved the more of those copied image would be created on screen. How I can overcome this problem? Thanks in advance, Andrew

  • Reduce number of config files to as few as possible

    For most of my applications I use iBatis.Net for database access/modeling and log4Net for logging. In doing this, I need a number of *.config files for each project. For example, for a simple application I need to have the following *.config files: app.config ([AssemblyName].[Extention].config) [AssemblyName].SqlMap.config [AssemblyName].log4Net.config [AssemblyName].SqlMapProperties.config providers.config When these applications go from DEV to TEST to PRODUCTION environments, the settings contained in these files change depending on the environment. When the number of files get compounded by having 5-10 (or more) supporting executables per project, the work load on the infrastructure team (the ones doing the roll-outs to the different environments) gets rather high. We also have a high risk of one of the config files being missed, or a mistype in the config file. What is the best way to avoid these risks? Should I combine all of the config files into one file? (is that possible with iBatis?) I know that with VisualStudio 2010 they introduce transforms for these config files that allow the developer to setup all the settings for the different environments and then dynamically (depending on the build kicked off) the config files get updated to the correct versions. (VS 2010 - transforms) Thank you for any help that you can provide.

  • How do I create interface methods using .tlb types in VS C++?

    Background: The .TLB file contains interfaces written in language 'X'. I don't have .h, .idl, .tlh, or any other header files - just the .TLB file. Language 'X' does not export compatible .h, .idl, etc. I use the VS wizard to add an ATL simple object to my ATL project. I want to add a method to the interface of my simple ATL object that uses one of the .TLB defined types for a parameter. // Something like the following in the .idl file: interface ISomeInterface : IUnknown { HRESULT SomeMethod([in] ITypeFromTLB* aVal); // ITypeFromTLB declared in .TLB file. }; How can I do this? I'm hoping for a wizard, or a line in the .idl interface declaration that would bring in the .tlb information. midl's include (no .tlb), import (no tlb), and importlib (library only) don't seem to provide a solution (I need proxy/stub to be working, so I cannot put this inside the library declaration with the importlib command). But when come to my beloved VC6, it give me error : main.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: static void __cdecl A::push(int)" (?push@A@@SAXH@Z) Any workaround? I just want to ensure my function definition is re-inside cpp file.

    I need to display both the AssemblyVersion and the AssemblyFileVersion.   • Event Handling for MFC Dialog

    This is my second question of the day, pardon me. I am writing a wrapper library to communicate with a scanner device. The source code was in C++ MFC. I am converting it to a plain Dll which will be invoked from C#. So, I am using DllImport in C# to call the wrapper library. Now I am provided with MFC code and the library is a ActiveX Object, at least I think so. class CDpocx : public CWnd { } So in my wrapper library I will have an instance of CDpocx and will call it via C# P/Invoke. But the problem is CDpocx also throws some events which I need to catch. In traditional app, I would just attach an function with it. But How would I attach the events on non MFC class. I have seen something like: BEGIN_EVENTSINK_MAP(CVC60Dlg, CDialog) //{{AFX_EVENTSINK_MAP(CVC60Dlg) ON_EVENT(CVC60Dlg, IDC_DPOCXCTRL1, 1 , OnReadyDpocxctrl1, VTS_NONE) //}}AFX_EVENTSINK_MAP END_EVENTSINK_MAP() OnReadyDpocxctrl1 is the function that handles 1 (Ready) event. [System.AttributeUsage(System.AttributeTargets.All)] public class Refactor : System.Attribute { private string _message; public Refactor() { _message = string.Empty; } public Refactor(string message) { _message = message; } } Applied to [Refactor("this should be less rubbish")] public virtual void RubbishMethod() { … } Now when someone makes a call to RubbishMethod I'd like the IDE (vs2008) to underline that call in a deep brown colour, similar to if I mark as Obsolete you get a green wave line. Is this possible? I've been racking my brain and hitting the google but I can't find how and where to do this.

  • ASP.NET MVC 2.0 RTM cannot work with VWD 2008 Express on a new Windows 7 Pro

    The MVC 2.0 RTM works great on my old Vista computer with VWD 2008 Express, but I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 Pro, I installed VWD 2008 Express SP1 and MVC 2.0 RTM by using Web PI 2.0. but after installation, I found the VWD doesn't have any MVC options, that means I can't either create new MVC projects or compile existing MVC projects. Why? What other steps I need to do to make it work? I'm sure the MVC has been installed properly since my MVC site on the new computer works well (so the IIS side has no problem), just the VWD can't 'realize' that the MVC framework is already installed... (tried to uninstall and install many times, and I also tried to install MVC separately without Web PI, but it just won't work)

  • Is Private Bytes >> Working Set normal?

    OK, this may sound weird, but here goes. There are 2 computers, A (Pentium D) and B (Quad Core) with almost the same amount of RAM running Windows XP. If I run the same code on both computers, the allocated private bytes in A never goes down resulting in a crash later on. In B it looks like the private bytes is constantly deallocated and everything looks fine. In both computers, the working set is deallocated and allocated similarly. Could this be an issue with manifests or DLLs (system)? I'm clueless. Also, I compiled the executable on A and ran it on B and it worked. Note: I observed the utilized memory with Process Explorer. Question: During execution (where we have several allocations and deallocations) is it normal for the number of private bytes to be much bigger (1.5 GB vs 70 MB) than the working set?

  • Redirecting from ASP.NET WebForms to MVC

    Hi there, We have a large existing ASP.NET WebForms application, but we are now moving over to MVC. Rather than go through a painful process of trying to integrate MVC into the existing app, we're looking at creating a brand new VS project to completely isolate the new code. As a first step, we are wanting to use the existing login process of the WebForms app, then redirect over to the MVC app. Does anyone know of an easy way to do this (i.e. redirect from a WebForms project to the MVC project, in the same VS solution)? All the information I've found so far suggests either starting from scratch in MVC, or combing MVC into the existing Webforms project - neither of which is very feasible. Many thanks, Paul

    I have a managed class library (say mylib.dll) and a 3rd party managed app (say app.exe) which is using mylib.dll. I have the code of mylib.dll but not of the app.exe. So currently what i do is i build mylib.dll, copy it to app.exe's directory, start app.exe and attach to the process. That way if i put breakpoints in code mylib.dll , i see them being hit. But is there anyway to automatically break in code of mylib.dll whenever any external application calls one of its exposed methods ? ie. Only for entrypoints of the dll. thanks, Mishal

    Hey all, I'm trying to use SubWCRev to get the current revision number of our SVN repository and put it in a file so I can show it in the UI. As I'm working with a Web App, I use the following post build command line: "SubWCRev.exe" "$(SolutionDir)." "$(ProjectDir)Content\js\revnumber.js.tpl" "$(ProjectDir)Content\js\revnumber.js" It works great, but now I want to make sure I have SubWCRev before running it, so I can skip this post build if a fellow developer is not running TortoiseSVN. I tried a few batch codes here, but couldn't figure this out. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Does anyone have any clue as to what this might mean? (ClCompile target) -> C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft.Cpp\v4.0\Platforms\Win32\Microsoft.Cpp.Win32.Targets(147,5): error MSB6006: "CL.exe" exited with code -1073741515. It builds fine on my dev box but fails due to this error on our CI box. It's running on .NET 3.5. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

  • Why is OnDragEnter not called?

    I have added the COleDropTarget variable to my view class, Registered it in the OnCreate(), which is being called at startup. I added the OnDragEnter and OnDrop virtual functions (not the others yet, as OnDragLeave). But they are not called when I drag (or drop) a piece of text over them. I just happened to think about the fact that I had already implemented the dropfiles function to the same window. Is this preventing the text drag? What else do I need? TIA, Harvey

  • WinForms Form won't close on pressing X or Close() in C#

    I'm having a bit weird problem with WinForm which seems to refuse to close for some weird reason. I've got very simple gui which sometimes doesn't react for me pressing X or when i use events on buttons it even reaches Close() and does nothing.. private void buttonZapisz_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string plik = textBoxDokumentDoZaladowania.Text; if (File.Exists(plik)) { string extension = Path.GetExtension(plik); string nazwaPliku = Path.GetFileName(plik); SqlMethods.databaseFilePut(plik, comboBoxTypDokumentu.Text, textBoxKomentarz.Text, sKlienciID, sPortfelID, extension, nazwaPliku); Close(); } } There are no events assigned to FormClosed or FormClosing. So how can I find out what's wrong. Sometimes X will work after the GUI is loaded but after i press Button to save some stuff to database it reaches Close() in that button event and it still is visible and does nothing. Can't use X, nor ALT+F4. I can go around GUI and choose other values for ComboBox without problem. I can open up same GUI and after opening new GUI i can quickly close it. GUI is very simple with few ComboBoxes,TextBoxes and one EditButton from Devexpress.   • How to kill msvsmon.exe when finished remote debugging?

    Hi, We are a .NET LOB shop using MS CRM as our CRM platform. To this end, we many times a day during development phases are using remote debugging due to 2 connection limit to the server. We are able to setup remote debugging without logging onto the machine by using PsExec. This works great - but how the heck do we kill the remote debugger for that user, once we are finished debugging? In fact, not even sure how to kill the remote debugger in general, even when manually opening it... without remoting into server and using task manager, or keeping the server open and doing File-Exit on the debugger. Any advice?

  • VB Project Template for Monobjc in MonoDevelop?

    After installing Monobjc and playing around with the Monobjc Application Project under C# in MonoDevelop, I noticed that there is only an empty Monobjc project under the VB section. Obviously this template adds all the correct references but doesn't add the basic files for the application to run. I've tried creating a class with: Imports System Imports Monobjc Imports Monobjc.Cocoa Class Application Public Sub Main(Byval args() As String) ObjectiveCRuntime.LoadFramework("Cocoa") ObjectiveCRuntime.Initialize() End Sub End Class Obviously I'm not loading the NIB there either, as I haven't added that in either, but if I try to build this I get: /Source/VB_Sample/VB_Sample/<MyGenerator>(1,1): Error VBNC30420: Could not find a 'Sub Main' in ''. (VBNC30420) (VB_Sample) Where should I be putting the Sub Main? Also if I add in a xib file from IB, how do I generate the designer code for the partial AppDelegate class? Any help would be appreciated.
