• pbpaste/pbcopy for windows?

  I'm looking for a quick and easy way to access clipboard contents from command line in Windows 7. I haven't been able to find anything searching the web so I was hoping someone in the community here might be able to help me. I found this article on a Google search. Apparently OSX has this functionality built in. This is exactly the functionality I'm looking for... Does anyone know of a Windows equivalent? Thanks in advance!

• How are views constructed in Josh Smith's MVVM sample?

  Being new to both WPF and MVVM, I'm studying Josh Smith's article on the MVVM pattern and the accompanying sample code. I can see that the application is started in app.xaml.cs by constructing a MainWindow object, wiring it to a MainWindowViewModel object and then showing the main window. So far so good. However, I can't find any code which instantiates the AllCustomersView or CustomerView classes. Using "find all references" on the constructors of those views comes up with nothing. What am I missing here?

• Getting BeautifulSoup to find a specific <p>

  I'm trying to put together a basic HTML scraper for a variety of scientific journal websites, specifically trying to get the abstract or introductory paragraph. The current journal I'm working on is Nature, and the article I've been using as my sample can be seen at http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v463/n7284/abs/nature08715.html. I can't get the abstract out of that page, however. I'm searching for everything between the <p class="lead">...</p> tags, but I can't seem to figure out how to isolate them. I thought it would be something simple like from BeautifulSoup import BeautifulSoup import re import urllib2 address="http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v463/n7284/full/nature08715.html" html = urllib2.urlopen(address).read() soup = BeautifulSoup(html) abstract = soup.find('p', attrs={'class' : 'lead'}) print abstract Using Python 2.5, BeautifulSoup 3.0.8, running this returns 'None'.   What is the difference between DVCS systems? Seriously, wikipedia doesn't cover it well, and I read an article on HN recently comparing git and bzr in some detail, but the author admitted knowing little about mercurial, and the other options didn't get mentioned. (I'm happily using fossil on small win/mac/Linux projects) Please restrict answers to the DVCS aspects of the tool, e.g. The basic unit of vc in hit is the repository- in bazaar it is the branch(http://unspecified.wordpress.com/2010/03/26/why-git-aint-better-than-x/). bugtrackers and wikis are nice, but I'm really interested in the tools themselves, rather than any extras. Unfortunately SO demands a single 'right answer', so I'm making the question community wiki in the hope that users will contribute their knowledge.

  My app shows a list of items, where each line is an item title with its image asides, the line reserves 70% of space for text and 30% for image. Imagine what iphone app store looks like. Which view/layout combo is recommended for this purpose? • Does anybody know of existing code to read a mork file (Thunderbird Address Book)?

  I have the need to read the Thunderbird address book on the fly. It is stored in a file format called Mork. Not a pleasant file format to read. I found a 1999 article explaining the file format. I would love to know if someone already has gone through this process and could make the code available. I found mork.pl by Jamie Zawinski (he worked on Netscape Navigator), but I was hoping for a .NET solution. I'm hoping StackOverflow will come to the rescue, because this just seems like a waste of my time to write something to read this file format when it should be so simple. I love the comments that Jamie put in his perl script. • Filesize with SWFUpload and Amazon S3

  Hello all, I'm currently using SWFUpload to upload files to my S3 bucket. And it's working great. I'm using the script from a website here: http://www.anedix.com/news/article/50 Again, the upload to my S3 works fine, however, I've been running into an issue when attempting to upload larger files. It seems that I cannot upload anything over 50MB. I have tried this from both my webhost and locally, using my local testing environment. My question is this: When uploading with SWFUpload, it should be going straight to Amazon S3, correct? If so, then PHP settings such as MAX_UPLOAD_SIZE should not affect it? (Even though in my local environment, I've set it to 1024MB.) Essentially, what the script does is, shows that it's uploading the file (it takes the appropriate amount of time), redirects to the success page, and does not throw any errors. Any ideas on why this would be happening, or how I can troubleshoot this? Thanks!

• SQL Server Full-Text Search: Hung processes with MSSEARCH wait type

  We have a SQL Server 2005 SP2 machine running a large number of databases, all of which contain full-text catalogs. Whenever we try to drop one of these databases or rebuild a full-text index, the drop or rebuild process hangs indefinitely with a MSSEARCH wait type. The process can’t be killed, and a server reboot is required to get things running again. Based on a Microsoft forums post[1], it appears that the problem might be an improperly removed full-text catalog. Can anyone recommend a way to determine which catalog is causing the problem, without having to remove all of them? I got however an article from Microsoft support, showing me how I could test for catalogues not properly removed. So I discovered that there still existed an old catalogue, which I ,after and only after re-enabling full text search, were able to delete, since then my backup has worked”

The problem is that this doesn't compile. I get 'The type or namespace name 'validatorType' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)' How can I make this work?

This article says ... the Java bytecode doesn’t support dynamic method invocation. There are three supported invocations modes : invokestatic, invokespecial, invokeinterface or invokevirtual. These modes allows to call methods with known signature. We talk of strongly typed language. This allows to to make some checks directly at compile time. On the other side, the dynamic languages use dynamic types. So we can call a method unknown at the compile time, but that’s completely impossible with the Java bytecode. What am I missing?

Do I really need to download Microsoft.web.mvc.dataannotation dll (The other dll is already present in the vs). to use(fire) datannotation on the page.? I am using partial views as well on the pages with dataviewmodel class(I will be using formviewmodel class for validation?)

  I've seen this question and this article on how to debug a native Java crash. The article is with respect to Windows. What are the equivalent debugging aids on Linux? Note: All I have is this crash log from a user in the field. I do not have access to the machine on which the crash occurred. Update: I am pretty sure the crash is due to JNI code we have.   My model is like this public class MyModel { string ID {get;set;} string Title {get;set;} MyOtherModel Meta {get;set;} } How to define custom model binder for type (MyOtherModel) so when default binder binds MyModel it calls custom model binder for 'Meta' property. I registered it in App start like: ModelBinders.Binders[typeof(MyOtherModel)] = new MyCustomBinder(); but this doesn't work. Any idea or any good article with more infor regarding to model binders?

• Codeigniter: How to build an edit form that uses form validation and re-population?

  Hi There, I have a simple form in codeigniter that I wish to use for the editing or records. I am at the stage where my form is displayed and the values entered into the corresponding input boxes. This is done by simply setting the values of said boxes to whatever they need to be in the view: <input type="text" value="<?php echo $article['short_desc'];?>" name="short_desc" /> But, if I wish to use form_validation in codeigniter then I have to add thos code to my mark-up: <input value="<?php echo set_value('short_desc')?>" type="text" name="short_desc" /> So not the value can be set with the set_value function should it need to be repopulated on error from the post data. Is there a way to combine the two so that my edit form can show the values to be edited but also re-populate? Thanks

  I have been searching on the web to see if I can use GoogleMaps with the JXMapViewer. According to this, it is illegal, but the article is more than three years old. Could anyone be kind enough to tell me if I can use GoogleMaps with the JXMap viewer? I know that Google has recently allowed desktop applications to use their static maps provided that the application is freely accessible to people on some website. If this can be done, I would appreciate some pointer to where I could start looking so that I can use Google Maps, I tried messing around with this but to no avail. Thanks in advance.

  I have a Windows 2008 R2 server running on a VM machine. My .NET service is running on this server periodically querying WMI, for example: SELECT ProcessId FROM Win32_Service WHERE ... After a day or two WMIprvse takes up to 500M memory and WMI queries start getting out of memory exceptions.   I usually tend to define the model layer of my apps using POJO's, such as Article, Comment, etc. I was about to implement an AlphabetIndexer in the adapter of one of my ListViews. Right now this adapter accepts a Collection of Articles, which I normally get from my wrapper around an SQLiteDatabase. The signature of the AlphabetIndexer constructer is as follows: public AlphabetIndexer (Cursor cursor, int sortedColumnIndex, CharSequence alphabet) Since this doesn't accept a Collection or something similar, just a Cursor, it got me wondering: maybe I shouldn't be creating objects for my model, and just use the Cursors returned from the database? So the question is, I guess: what should I do, represent data with Collections of POJO's, or just work with Cursors throughout my app? Any input?

• How to setup a project to use TweetSharp

  I am trying to follow Pete Brown's introductory WPF tutorial which makes use of the TweetSharp libraries to interact with Twitter. I have downloaded what appears to be the latest TweetSharp binaries (and a few others including the ReleaseCandidate) from Codeplex (http://tweetsharp.codeplex.com/). No matter what references I add and no matter what using statements I try, I cannot create a reference to the TwitterService for the FluentTwitter class. I simply get the compiler error - "The type or namespace cannot be found". Now I've noticed that the TweetSharp.dll that Pete references is 518KB but the one contained in each of my different downloads is only 84kb. (I've tried several times - I am getting the full download here). The link from Pete's article to the TweetSharp libraries, no longer works (http://code.google.com/p/tweetsharp/). What basic element am I missing here or what could I be doing wrong?

• Why do users have to enter a 7-digit twitter PIN to grant my application access?

  I am implementing some ruby on rails code tweet stuff for my users. I am creating the proper oauth link...something like http://twitter.com/oauth/authorize?oauth_token=y2RkuftYAEkbEuIF7zKMuzWN30O2XxM8U9j0egtzKv But after my test account grants access to twitter, it pulls up a page saying "You've successfully granted access to . Simply return to and enter the following PIN to complete the process. 1234567" I have no idea where the user should enter this PIN and why they have to do that. I don't think this should be a necessary step. Twitter should be redirecting the user to the callback URL I provided in the application settings. Does anyone know why this is happening? UPDATE I found this article that states I need to send my users to this URL (note "authenticate" instead of "authorize"): http://twitter.com/oauth/authenticate?oauth_token=y2RkuftYAEkbEuIF7zKMuzWN30O2XxM8U9j0egtzKv I made the change but Twitter redirects the user to the authorize path after he clicks "Allow" which then gives him the 7 digit PIN again!
