  Hi everyone, i have the class var prstore = new Ext.data.Store({ url: 'xmlformat.xml', autoLoad: true, reader: new Ext.data.XmlReader({ record: 'price' }, [{name: 'Pri', mapping: '@rate'}]) }); the data which is stored in the "prstore",i want it to copy it into an array. something like var hello = []; hello = prstore.getrange(); but it's not working for me please help thank you

  In a recent meeting, I mentioned that I've seen a few websites with horizontal sliding panels and thought the UI was elegant, uncluttered and accessible. Naturally, I was asked to provide examples of those sites, but can't seem to dig up any of them now. Actually, I've been looking on an off for the past few days. (blush) Sooo.... I thought that I would put it out to the brilliant and talented folks who frequent StackOverflow. If you know of a website -- or better yet, have a website -- that uses horizontal sliding panels to provide rich functionality while maintaining a clean UI, would you please take a few moments and paste links here?   I have been looking through some code on an open source project recently and found many occurrences of this kind of code: class SomeClass { private int SomeNumber = 42; public ReturnValue UseSomeNumber(...) { int someNumberCopy = this.SomeNumber; if (someNumberCopy > ...) { // ... do some work with someNumberCopy } else { // ... do something else with someNumberCopy } } } Is there any real benefit to making a copy of the instance variable?

• How to safely store encryption key in a .NET assembly

  In order to prevent somebody from grabbing my data easily, I cache data from my service as encrypted files (copy protection, basically). However, in order to do this, I must store the encryption key within the .NET assembly so it is able to encrypt and decrypt these files. Being aware of tools like Red Gate's .NET Reflector which can pull my key right out, I get a feeling that this is not a very safe way of doing it... are there any best practices to doing this?

• Seeking a GUI auto-format feature for T-SQL

  Is there a freely available GUI tool that will allow interaction with Microsoft SQL Server (via T-SQL) that provides an auto-format feature? I constantly find myself writing queries in SQL Query Analyzer (Microsoft’s standard GUI tool for T-SQL) and cutting/pasting the whole thing into SQLyog (a GUI tool for MySQL), where I can press F12 and have it reformatted into an easily readable, industry standard format. I then cut/paste this back into Query Analyzer to execute. I do this all the time at work and haven’t been able to find an alternative. I realize that SQLyog is no longer free software, but what I’m looking for is a specific alternative to a MS SQL Server interface (with auto-formatting). Thanks in advance for your help.

  (Followup to this question) After surviving the first wave of incoming shipments (9 hours of copy/paste), I now believe I have all the requirements. Here is the updated workflow: Monkey collects email attachments (4 Excel spreadsheets, 1 PDF) Monkey creates central database, does complex calculations (right now this is also an Excel spreadsheet) Monkey sends data to two bosses, who set the retail prices independently; first one to reply wins Monkey sends order form to our other warehouses, also Excel Monkey sends spreadsheets to VIP customers, carefully sanitized and formatted (4 different discount categories) Jurily enters the data into the accounting system. I've given up on automating this part, there's too much business logic involved, and the database is a pile of sh^W legacy My question: What technologies would you use for a quick and dirty solution? I'm mostly sold on C#, but coming from a Linux/C++ background, I'm horribly confused about my choices in Microsoft-land. For bonus points: How would you redesign the whole system from the ground up? P.S. in case you were wondering, my job title is System Administrator.

• File.mkdir is not working and I can't understand why

  Hello, I've this brief snippet: String target = baseFolder.toString() + entryName; target = target.substring(0, target.length() - 1); File targetdir = new File(target); if (!targetdir.mkdirs()) { throw new Exception("Errore nell'estrazione del file zip"); } doesn't mattere if I leave the last char (that is usually a slash). It's done this way to work on both unix and windows. The path is actually obtained from the URI of the base folder. As you can see from baseFolder.toString() (baseFolder is of type URI and is correct). The base folder actually exists. I can't debug this because all I get is true or false from mkdir, no other explanations.The weird thing is that baseFolder is created as well with mkdir and in that case it works. Now I'm under windows. the value of target just before the creation of targetdir is "file:/C:/Users/dario/jCommesse/jCommesseDB" if I cut and paste it (without the last entry) in windows explore it works...

  For a project at work, we're considering using the Maven plugin for Eclipse to automate our builds. Right now the procedure is far more complicated than it ought to be, and we're hoping that Maven will simplify things to a one-click build. My question is, is there a wizard or automatic importer for converting an existing Eclipse Java project to a Maven project, using the Maven plugin? Or should I create a new Maven project and manually copy over all source files, libs, etc.

• C# why App.config is copied to my debug and release folder after build?

  I am using Visual Studio 2008 professional, C#. I found the App.config file is copied into the bin\debug and bin\release folder. Is that by default? I thought the XXX.exe.config file will be the only configuration file for a project. Is it safe to release our applicaion without the App.config? if yes, how to ask VS2008 to stop copy that file after build? thanks

  Hi, I have a enterprise application converted from VS2003 to vs2005 . The converted application, in one page i do edit and save i am getting this error. 'Multiple controls with the same ID 'hidWIPID0' were found But the same work fine in the code of vs2003 version without any error. Its a huge application with dynamic master pages and usercontrols etc..So i cant paste the exact code here. But the origin of the error is master page content control. eg: page code MasterPageStrategy:Content id="pnlMain" Error Multiple controls with the same ID 'hidWIPID0' were found View Source MasterPage:pnlMain:_ctl2:hidWIPID0 I Microsoft support there is an article explaining the same issue.But it applies to 1.1 version. • Socket server stops accepting connections after a period of time

  We have an async socket server written in C#. (running on Windows Web Server 2008) It works flawlessly up until it stop accepting new connections for an unknown reason. We have about 200 concurrent connections on average, however we keep a count of both connections created and connections dropped. These figures can reach as high as 10,000 or as low as only 1000 before it just stops! It can run for up to around 8 hours sometimes before it stops or it can run for about half hour, at the moment it's running for about an hour before we have another application bring it back up automatically when that can't connect (not exactly ideal). It doesn't appear like we're running out of sockets as we're closing them properly, we're also logging all errors and nothing is happening immediately before it stops. We can figure this out. Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on? I can paste code, but it generally just the same old async beginaccept/send code you see everywhere.

  Your code is of course checked into a repository somewhere, but where do you keep your working copy/copies? C:\Program Files isn't right, as it's for installed packages. My Documents somehow doesn't seem right, either—a My Code folder next to My Music and My Pictures? Dumping in C:\ is messy, but seems to be "working" for other people in my office.

• Unable to run native C++ application on different machine

  Hi, I wrote a simple 'Hello, world' application in C++ using Visual Studio 2008. I am able to run the app successfully on my local machine. BUt when I copy the exe onto another machine and run, it does not run. It gives the error that 'Application has failed to start because application configuration is incorrect'.   I've read that all stl containers provide a specialisation of the swap algorithm so as to avoid calling the copy constructor and two assignment operations that the default method uses. However, when I thought it would be nice to use a queue in some code I was working on I noticed that (unlike vector and deque) queue doesn't provide this method? I just decided to use a deque instead of a queue, but still I'm interested to know why this is?

• Why is System.arraycopy native in Java?

  I was surprised to see in the Java source that System.arraycopy is a native method. Of course the reason is because it's faster. But what native tricks is the code able to employ that make it faster? Why not just loop over the original array and copy each pointer to the new array - surely this isn't that slow and cumbersome?
