  • Visual Studio keeps changing resx files

    Hello everyone ! I'm working on a VB.Net project and using SVN. I noticed that every time I use my main form, Visual studio slightly modifies my .resx file, which means that I keep having to re-commit it, which is quite an annoying thing. Has anybody experienced such problems?   • Unable to load dump files in Windows Server 2008

    I've got a managed process (x86) running on a Win Server 2008 (x64). When i'm talking a dump of the process via the task manager ("Create dump file"), i use correctly SOS on win dbg (it complains about symbols and such even though i have all of the debugging symbols installed). If i'll create the dump using procdump.exe [SysInternals], or via WinDBG [.dump -ma], i can open the dump file and use SOS without any problems ...what's the deal with task manager's "create dump file" option?

When I try to add a branch tracking a remote using the command git checkout -b mybranch origin/mybranch The remote branch is tracking X directory, and hence this checkout fails with the error Untracked working tree file 'X' would be overwritten by merge. what is the way out ?     I'd like to use ftplib to upload program-generated data as lists. The nearest method I can see for doing this is ftp.storlines, but this requires a file object with a readlines() method. Obviously I could create a file, but this seems like overkill as the data isn't persistent.   • Log4Net and GAC - How to reference Configuraition Files?

    Hello all I am using log4net during my development, as as part of a project constraint, I now need to add it to the Global Assembly Cache. The logging definitions are in a file Log4Net.xml. That file is referenced in my assemblyinfo as: [assembly: log4net.Config.XmlConfigurator(ConfigFile = "Log4Net.xml", Watch = true)]. So long as the xml file was in the same directory as the log4net.dll, everything has been working fine. However now that I've added log4net to the GAC, it is no longer picking up the xml file. Does anyone know what I need to change in order to have it pick up the XML file again? Is hardcoding the patch in the assembly reference the only way? Many thanks

These documents could be 1-5 pages of text formatted in various ways by the user, but in most cases would contain at least: Name Address (physical) Email Address Phone number website URL I'm looking for a semantic parser that can attempt to extract these elements from the documents so that I can load that information into a relational database and work with these records as contacts.   • Launch .jar files with command line arguments (but with no console window)

    I have to do a demo of an application, the application has a server.jar and client.jar. Both have command line arguments and are executable. I need to launch two instances of server.jar and two instances of client.jar. I thought that using a batch file was the way to go, but, the batch file executes the first command (i.e. server.bat [argument1] [argument2]) and does not do anything else unless I close the first instance, in which case it then runs the 2nd command. And also the I do not want a blank console window to open (or be minimized) What I really need is a batch script that will just launch these apps without any console windows and launch all instances that I need. Thanks in Advance! EDIT: javaw: works if I type the command into the console window individually. If I put the same in the batch file, it will behave as before. Console window opens, one instance starts (whichever was first) and it does not proceed further unless I close the application in which case it runs the 2nd command. I want it to run all commands silently SOLUTION: Found the solution, below is the contents of my batch file @echo off start /B server.jar [arg1] [arg2] start /B server.jar [arg3] [arg4] @echo on this opens, runs all the commands and closes the window, does not wait for the command to finish.

    Hi all, I have to make a project to run successfully on a Linux machine. Right now my project works very well on windows machine. On Windows machine it is compiling and working fine. My project is using one ".lib" and one ".dll" file to do the tasks successfully on Windows. Can i use the same .lib file and .dll file on linux machine to build the project successfully? I am compiling the project with G++ and using GNU Makefile to do the task. What should i do in the case that i can not use the .LIB and .DLL file on Linux machine. My simple requirement: Reading a huge ( a million) line test file (For this example assume it's a CSV of some sorts) and keeping a reference to the beginning of that line for faster lookup in the future (read a line, starting at X). I tried the naive and easy way first, using a StreamWriter and accessing the underlying BaseStream.Position. Unfortunately that doesn't work as I intended: Given a file containing the following Foo Bar Baz Bla Fasel and this very simple code using (var sr = new StreamReader(@"C:\Temp\LineTest.txt")) { string line; long pos = sr.BaseStream.Position; while ((line = sr.ReadLine()) != null) { Console.Write("{0:d3} ", pos); Console.WriteLine(line); pos = sr.BaseStream.Position; } } the output is: 000 Foo 025 Bar 025 Baz 025 Bla 025 Fasel I can imagine that the stream is trying to be helpful/efficient and probably reads in (big) chunks whenever new data is necessary. For me this is bad.. The question, finally: Any way to get the (byte, char) offset while reading a file line by line without using a basic Stream and messing with \r \n \r\n and string encoding etc. manually? Not a big deal, really, I just don't like to build things that might exist already..

  • jQuery - how to repeat a function within itself to include nested files

    I'm not sure what to call this question, since it involves a variety of things, but we'll start with the first issue... I've been trying to write a simple to use jQuery for includes (similar to php or ssi) on static html sites. Whenever it finds div.jqinclude it gets attr('title') (which is my external html file), then uses load() to include the external html file. Afterwards it changes the class of the div to jqincluded So my main index.html might contain several lines like so: <div class="jqinclude" title="menu.html"></div> However, within menu.html there might be other includes nested. So it needs to make the first level of includes, then perform the same action on the newly included content. So far it works fine, but it's very verbose and only goes a couple levels deep. How would I make the following repeated function to continually loop until no more class="jqinclude" elements are left on the page? I've tried arguments.callee and some other convoluted wacky attempts to no avail. How do i solve this?   • Avoiding problem of overwriting files which are in use

    For example on a high traffic web server. To reduce problems when switching a file I usually rename the old file out and then rename in the new file. I was told some time ago that renaming a file does not change the 'inode data' so that processes reading the file can keep doing so without glitches. And, of course, rather than copying in the new file it is faster and safer to rename a temp copy. Is this still best practice and if not what do you do?

  • How to get paperclip to delete files

    I have a model that is using Paperclip to manage the file. After I delete the model, I obviously would like the file to be deleted as well, but I cannot seem to find out how to get the file deleted using Paperclip. I have tried self.sourcefile = nil if !sourcefile.dirty? in the before_destroy def, but that had no effect. (I want to be able to have it delete the file locally when I test, and then on S3 when I use that - So i need a pure paperclip solution) Any ideas?
