• Sendmail relay out of Amazon EC2?

  I have a site running on CentOS 5.4 through Amazon EC2. Unfortunately, Amazon has had nothing but trouble with their entire IP range getting black listed from spam tracking services regularly. I need a mail server, so I setup an smtp server elsewhere that I want to send to, but I can't just send directly to it through PHP because the direct smtp request is way too slow. What I want to do is relay through sendmail, but I've never used sendmail before, so I have no idea how to configure it. All I want is for all emails sent from localhost to be relayed to one specific external server, but I don't know how to do that. I tried to find a tutorial online, but couldn't find anything that was particularly clear as to how I go about doing that. Can anyone help me out?

  Hello - I am trying to write a simple rewrite rule using the rewriteengine in apache. I want to redirect all traffic destined to a website unless the traffic originates from a specific IP address and the URI contains two specific strings. Presumably, I will have to modify some settings in /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf, but I am hesitant to change the default settings lest I create other security vulnerabilities.

  I have a database server, let's call it: dbserver I have a web server with access to my dbserver, let's call it: webserver I have a development machine that I'd like to use to access a database on dbserver, let's call it: dev dbserver has a firewall rule set to allow TCP requests from webserver to dbserver:1433 I'd like to set up a tunnel from dev:1433 to dbserver:1433, so all requests to 1433 on dev are passed along to dbserver:1433 My sshd_config on webserver has the following rules set: AllowTcpForwarding yes GatewayPorts yes This is what I've tried: ssh -v -L localhost:1433:dbserver:1433 webserver In another terminal: telnet localhost 1433 Results in: Trying ::1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here? Thanks in advance!

  I am VERY new to installing any type of server program and to running any opensource type software in general. I am running Windows Server 2008R2. I want to install Collective Access to run locally only on my Intranet at home. So my host is localhost I sucessfully installed PHP and MYSQL. I installed CA in this directory C:/inetpub/wwwroot/collectiveaccess. 1st. I do not want to send mail through collective access. Will it install without all the email information? Can I comment those requirements out in the global config and setup.php file? 2nd I am getting the error. • Migrate Thunderbird 3 Saved Searches Between Accounts

  Long story short, the sysadmins have moved me to a new mailserver. In the process, they needed to create a separate account in Thunderbird and disable my old account. They took care of all of the mail migration. However, my saved search folders didn't go along for the ride. I have over 20 complex searches that I'd rather not have to reenter manually by hand. You can't drag saved searches between accounts like other folders. I tried closing Thunderbird, doing a find/replace in virtualFolders.dat in my Thunderbird profile folder, saving that file, and reopening Thunderbird, but that didn't appear to do anything. I'm assuming the search folders are also saved in one of the sqlite databases... does anyone know where to look?

• Undeliverable messages to newly migrated Exchange user

  We are in the process of migrating from our old domain to a new one, part of which involves migrating mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. A bunch of users have been migrated already without problems. However, one of the users is having trouble receiving emails from others. When someone sends to him, they get an Undeliverable NDR that says "A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients." The message shows the user's distinguished name as /OU=OurDomain/CN=Recipients/CN=USER57137172. The user's account name should just be "USER", so I don't know where the extra numbers ("57137172") are coming from. Thanks in advance.

  I have openSUSE 11.3 installed. I'm using the openSUSE firewall configuration mechanism (/etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2). I have a http server application running on port 8080. I want the http service to be accessible using port 80. I created a redirect rule usign: FW_REDIRECT="0/0,0/0,tcp,80,8080" This works fine for every request coming from external. But it doesn't for local requests. (example: wget http://myserver/) Is there a way how I can tell the firewall to redirect local requests addressed for 80 to port 8080? (using the SUSE firewall configuration file)

  I have a Gmail account and a second email address. The mail from this second address is forwarded to the Gmail address. I use Thunderbird to read my email, but there's a little problem with the Reply2All feature. See, I have one of the addresses registered as my email address in Thunderbird. If somebody sends me an email on the other address, and I click reply 2 all, it doesn't recognize that address as mine, so it adds it to the recipient list - I am mailing myself. Anything I can do to fix this? Some way to let TB recognize both addresses?

But it sounds like that requires that I set the host of the receiving mail server. I would instead like to specify the domain. Also, if I use this, will all other hosts/domains work without TLS?   I am forced to use the web version of Outlook at Office 365. I really dislike how it formats e-mail as well as how it handles quoting when replying. In the desktop version of Outlook you can at least force it too display the messages in plain text and then you can manually bottom post/post interleaved. Plain text also changes how it handles quotes: " " is used rather than some braindead RTF version of format=flowed (I like format=flowed when it is implemented without bugs) although the attribution line is completely useless but in the online version I can't find a way to achieve even this. Any ideas? I guess a Greasemonkey script could do this?

  Hi I want to protect SSH access to our live web server from all IP's except our office static IP. There are some employees who connects to this live server from their dynamic IP's. So, it is not always possible for me to change in the iptables rule in live server whenever the dynamic IP of the employee changes. I tried to put them in office VPN and allowed only SSH access from office IP but the office connection is slow in compared to our employee's private internet connection, moreover it adds an extra overhead to our office network. Is there any way I can solve this problem ?

  I am attempting to setup BugZilla to receive but reports from another system using the XML-RPC interface. BugZilla works fine on its own with its own interface. When I attempt to test the XML-RPC functionality by accessing "xmlrpc.cgi" in my browser I get the error: The XML-RPC Interface feature is not available in this Bugzilla at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 27 main::BEGIN(...) called at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 29 eval {...} called at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 29 Following this I install test-taint package from the default perl repository, this installs version 1.04. Re-running "xmlrpc.cgi" gives me an IIS error: 502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server. • Sonicwall Enhanced With One-To-One NAT, Firewall Blocking Everything

  Hello, just migrated from a Sonicwall TZ180 (Standard) to a Sonicwall TZ200 (Enhanced). Everything is working except the firewall rules are blocking everything. All hosts are online, and being assigned correct ip addresses. I can browse the internet on the hosts. I am using one-to-one NAT translating public ip addresses to private. 64.87.28.98 -> 192.168.1.2 64.87.28.99 -> 192.168.1.3 etc First order of business is to get ping working. My rule is in the new firewall is (FROM WAN to LAN): SOURCE DESTINATION SERVICE ACTION USERS ANY 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.6 PING ALLOW ALL This should be working, but not. I even tried changing the destination to the public ip addresses, but still no luck. SOURCE DESTINATION SERVICE ACTION USERS ANY 64.87.28.98-64.87.28.106 PING ALLOW ALL Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

  Hi I'm working on some software, that runs on a Centos 5.xx installation. I'ts not allowed for our customers to log in to Linux, everything is done from Windows applications, developed by us. So we have build a frontend for the user to configure network setup: Static/DHCP, ip-address, gateway, DNS, Hostname. Right now I let the user enter the information in the Windows app, and then write it on the Linux server like this: Write to /etc/resolv.conf: Nameserver Write to /etc/sysconfig/network: Gateway and Hostname Write to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0: Ipaddress, Netmask, Bootproto(DHCP or Static) I also (after some time) found out that I was unable to send mail, unless I wrote in /etc/hosts: 127.0.0.1 Hostname All this seems to work, but is there a better/easier way to do this? Also, I read the network configuration nearly the same way, but if I use DHCP, I miss som information, for instance the Ip-address. I know that I can get some information from the commandline (ifconfig), but I dont get for instance Hostname, Gateway and DNS. Is there a commandline tool that will display this?

  I'm considering setting up a PC as a Media Center. Mainly to watch movies (ideally HD quality) and listening to music, but also to perform tasks like e-mail, web browsing, ... I quite like the looks and the price of this barebone: http://www.asus.de/Barebone_PC/S_Series_7L/S2P8H61E However it comes with integrated graphics and audio and only has one free PCI-Express slot. Which would mean in the worst case, where both integrated graphics and audio turn out to be insufficient, I could only upgrade one. • Exchange ActiveSync does not work for one user

  One particular user in our system is unable to connect to Exchange ActiveSync via her iPhone. When I try to connect using my own credentials on her iPhone it works (everything begins syncing), but when I input her credentials, the Settings app verifies the credentials are correct but nothing syncs. For example, if I open Mail, no items are shown. When I attempt to force a sync, it says "Cannot connect to server." In Exchange 2010 Management Console the user is no different than the others. Exchange ActiveSync is set as "Enable" in Mailbox Features. EDIT: Alternatively, if there is some easy way to create a new useraccount/mailbox and copy all of the contents of the old one over, I bet it would work, and that would be fine as well. She is a Mac user so we do not have to worry about her Active Directory account.

• Outlook 2010: How do I mark one recurring event public?

  My office utilizes Outlook 2010 and Exchange for e-mail, and our calendars show free/busy information by default. Background I work from home once a week, so I have created an event that lists me as tentative for the entire workday, titled "Working from Home - Available Remotely". However, those attempting to schedule a meeting with me won't see this title, and therefore won't think they can schedule an event. As much as I'd like to get out meetings (!) it's important that folks be able to schedule with me. Question Is there a way to make the title/details public for this one recurring event so that when others attempt to schedule a meeting with me, Attempted Solutions I've tried creating a public calendar and sharing all the details of that calendar. However, all of my calendars are not included when someone wants to schedule with me, and so I'm shown as free unless someone specifically looks at my public calendar. I've Googled around, to no avail.

• Outlook 2010 Error

  I'm running Outlook 2010 SP1 on Windows 7 x64 SP1, and I'm getting an error message saying "Your Microsoft Exchange administrator has blocked the version of Outlook that you are using. Contact your administrator for assistance." I'm still able to log into my account using Outlook Web Access (OWA), so I know that my account is working just fine. Outlook 2010 with Service Pack 1 is the standard for Windows 7 client systems at this organization, and other people are able to access their e-mail just fine. When my account was initially configured, I was able to use Outlook for a couple of days, and then it suddenly stopped working, providing only the above error message. Do you have any ideas on what I should look into to resolve this problem? Is there any information I can obtain on the client side that will help the Exchange folks investigate the issue further? • Rails time stamps on images in CSS

  Just posted this on Stack but realized it may be more appropriate here: So Rails time stamping is great. I'm using it to add expires headers to all files that end in the 10 digit timestamp. Most of my images however are referenced in my CSS. Has anyone come across any method that allows for timestamps to be added to CSS referenced images, or some funky re-write rule that achieves this? I'd love for ALL images in my site, both inline and in css to have this timestamp so I can tell the browser to cache them, but refresh any time the file itself changes. I couldn't find anything on the net regarding this and I can't believe this isn't a more frequently discussed topic. I don't think my setup will matter because the actual expiring will hopefully happen the same way, based on the 10 digit timestamp, but I'm using apache to serve all static content if that matters
