• I accidentally hid my Gnome Panel

  I got a new tablet pc, and in attempt to hide the empathy mail icon, accidentally made the entire panel dissappear. (The one at the top that has applications/places/system, and battery life/network connections etc). I don't believe I killed it, because alt+f2, then gnome-panel does not bring it back. I've tried alt+ctrl+backspace to reset gnome, that didn't bring it back. It must just be some setting like 'hide' or something... Any tips to get it back? Thanks.

• Port Redirection on Mac OS X Lion

  I have tried to solve this issue using pf but with no luck. Basically, I am trying to redirect incoming port 443 traffic to port 22. I have tried to set up a rule in a file and load it in pf but I get syntax error. Can anyone with more experience with pf provide some insight? Here's what I've attempted: pass in on en1 proto tcp from any to any port 443 rdr-to 127.0.0.1 port 22 and pass in quick proto tcp to port 443 rdr-to 127.0.0.1 port 22 I've been able to do this in MacOSX Snow Leopard with ipfw: sudo ipfw add 1443 forward 127.0.0.1,22 ip from any to any 443 in but it doesn't work in Lion (it gives me an Invalid Argument error).

• Set Thunderbird to always reply using plain text [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How do I tell Thunderbird never to send (or even try to send) html emails? In the account settings of Thunderbird (version 11.0.1) I have disabled HTML and set it to compose messages as plain text. That works for new messages. However, when I get an HTML email and reply to that mail, Thunderbird uses HTML. I went to the setting in: Tools ? Options ? Composition ? Send Options ? Plain Text Domains And have tried *.* as the domain name. I also changed the default text format in Settings - Compose - Send options. Neither of them works, the reply is still using HTML (for my own text). How can I really reply in plain text only, regardless of incoming?

• Thunderbird 16.0.1 with IMAP on Gmail on Windows 7

  My Thunderbird Trash folder is messed up and it does not get fixed by "Repair Folder". When I delete a message it goes into the Trash folder but if I try to access the message, I get a pop-up error message: The current operation on Trash did not succeed. The mail server for account for the XXX imail Gmail account responded: Some messages could not be FETCHed The message count in the Trash folder continues to increase. If I look in the Gmail trash folder I can read the deleted messages. Unlike other users that have reported this problem I cannot find a corrupted message in the Gmail Trash folder. In fact I do not find any corrupted messages in my any of Gmail labels.

• How to redirect third party logs to log server in Centos

  I want to setup a simple log server to accept logs from all clients. I am not talking about standard system logs such as /var/log/mail , message, boot etc. I want to redirect or send application logs and they may not be using syslog daemon at all to log their message. Such as /appdir/log/error.log. I ran across many posts on the internet; most suggest using rsyslog or syslog-ng. Well so far I have been able to redirect the standard system logs not the application logs. I am using centos 5/6 environment.

• Issue with emails with attached emails.

  There is this problem with our email in my organisation that happens to some people. When a remote sender sends an email that has an attached email, the reciever gets the email but the attached email is blank. The recieving mail server is MDaemon Pro. I also notice that the email header could be corrupted. I checked the MDaemon KB and find nothing regarding this issue. but I also highly doubt that this is an MS Outlook 2007 issue. Anyone have any ideas? Putting this issue aside, I feel that we really should not attach emails to emails. There is a reason for the "Forward" button. I can't understand why is it so difficult for them to just forward that email instead of drag and drop one into the other using outlook. Furthermore, if the attached email also has its own attachments, the resulting nesting will be quite unbearable. Don't you think so?

  Hi, I'm moving a web site from one server to another, and am realizing that I need to move the name servers for the domain as well (they are set to the current host, not to the registrar). So, knowing that email services will stop as soon as I switch the DNS, I'm scrambling to figure out how to archive and make available email data for folks that have mostly been using webmail for the past few years, and may not even have a computer on which to install a client to download the mail to. • 1 iPhone, 2 (potentially 3) Macs......& Google Apps Sync?!

  Currently I use a beast of a G5 Mac at work for all my software/web development, an iMac G5 at home for personal use & a MacBook Pro for when i'm on the go. At work we make heavy use of all the Google Apps features such as calendar & docs etc. We all have an address book (local mac application) that gets synced with a list of contacts stored on our mail server. I want to be able to integrate the Google Apps calendar with my iPhone calendar (or even just iCal - which i can then sync to the iPhone). Essentially I want all three Macs to have the Google calendar synced to their version of iCal including the iPhone. I've heard that Google Sync handles something along these lines but i'm unsure if it's going to fulfill my needs? I'm trying my best to avoid having to use MobileMe..... • mailman not relaying email to external address

  I have a setup of mailman with postfix on an ubuntu server 12.04. My problem is that mailing list emails are not forwarded to email addresses external to my institution. However the initial welcome email is received by everyone, internally and externally. in fact, a simple email from command line with mail is successfully sent to anyone after that, mailing list emails are only forwarded to internal addresses. the domain name I'm using for the server is not that of my institution who is hosting the server. • memcached install issues with lib event on server

  I've installed libevent on my server in the directory root/data/ and have i'm about to install memcached with ./configure –with-lib-event=/data/; make; make install However, after running a bit I get this error saying i'm pointing to the wrong directory for libevent. checking for libevent directory... configure: error: libevent is required. You can get it from http://www.monkey.org/~provos/libevent/ If it's already installed, specify its path using --with-libevent=/dir/ make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop. Any suggestions. I am not experience with cli so anything is help. Thanks!

• is my xml cached by IIS7?

  Hi guys, I have a flashplayer on my website. Behind it, there is an xml file which keeps the configuration of the products shown on that flashplayer. I do not understand why, if i modify something in the xml config file, the flash player is not updated at that moment, but after hours... Do you know why? I have not defined any rule for output caching in IIS7 so there is probably something default? Of course, i've tried Ctrl+f5 but does not work. Thanks.

Instead, files are supposed to have a permission of 0644 and folders have a permission 0755. However, this is always worded differently SuPHP won't allow chmod of 777 so we need to set all files to 644 and directories to 755 Your scripts and directories can now, only have a maximum of 755 permissions Set file permission(s) to allow read access only by you (e.g., chmod 600 filename.suphp). What is the exact rule and to what files does it apply to? If I have README file somewhere in a nested directory does its permission need to be updated, or does it only apply to .php files?

• Network connectivity issues with Windows Store

  I have my Windows 8 Pro build 9200 installed on my Dell laptop. I want to install some new apps and updates from the Store but there might be some network problem that caused the downloading gauge showing up but not really running at all. I followed some instructions that switched from local user to my Microsoft account, but this "Please wait" screen keeps showing and I don't really know why. I still have internet access and can use some apps like People, Mail, etc. with my account logged in, I can surf the net using Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer. I did another test using cmd with ping -t google.com and it showed that my laptop has internet access. Anybody knows a solution to make the Store working properly? Or is there any workaround to switch to the Microsoft account instead of a local user account?

• Outlook 2010 Rules on an IMAP Account

  I have an IMAP account set up in Outlook 2010. This account receives notices from scheduled tasks. It receives a LOT of messages. I want to filter the messages that contain error reports into a new folder. I created a rule in Outlook that looks for specific text in the message. The problem is that the filter doesn't seem to see the text unless I have already viewed the message. How can I work around this limitation? EDIT This post was originally for Outlook 2003. • How to enable RDP to a Server 2008 R2 on another network? VM network

  I have a W2008 R2 installed on a different network (I am on 192.168.0.x - new server on 192.168.3.x) I had trouble ping and RDP to it. I disabled the firewall to test the connection: and that opened the ping feature but I still can not RDP to that machine. the allow remote access is enabled As per sinni80 idea - Here is the error message The networks are divided by a Fortigate 60-B router - 2ndy interface for the gateway is 192.168.3.254 (and pingable from all) any to any rule on both networks is in place. As per Joe Schmoe idea - I am able to RDP to 192.168.3.1 from 192.168.3.3 (which is on the same network) Data to add: - The servers are on a VM host, each of the servers has 2 nics one is DHCP enabled into the 192.168.0.x network 2nd is static IP in the 192.168.3.x -- Further information: The network 192.168.0.x - are on a domain network (active Directory) The network 192.168.3.x - are grouped in a workgroup What should I check more please?

• Can qmail-ldap replace the validrcptto file?

  We are using qmail to route incoming mail to our Domino server. However, that requires us to maintain the validrcptto with the list of all allowed email addresses. Since Domino provides an LDAP directory, does qmail-ldap provide functionnality to lookup valid rcpt to addresses in the Domino directory instead of the validrcptto file, so that we wouldn't have to maintain that extra list ? We have about 150~200 users, so is setting up qmail-ldap worth the extra mile if it can verify addresses in the LDAP directory ? If anyone has experience with qmail-ldap and its setup, I'd be glad to hear from you.

  I realize that this is a subjective question, but I'm trying to get some experiences We have Juniper firewalls in our organization (SSG-320M, SSG-5, and some old NS-5GT). We have the option of a yearly subscription for: Deep Inspection Signature Updates Juniper-Kaspersky Antivirus I seem similar services available from other Firewall vendors. We have Symantec Endpoint Protection deployed to all workstations and servers, plus a dedicated appliance for e-mail spam/virus filtering. So, I'm not sure what these firewall-base services will bring to the table that I don't already have. I would appreciate some feedback from people using these firewall services (Juniper or otherwise). Are these services generally worth it? Do they really catch anything? Do they interfere with normal traffic (false positives)?

• Lots of spambot registrations on PHPBB forum

  We have a PHPBB forum running for a few years with admin approval of newly registred users. New users can not post on the forum untill we approve their new account. So I get an e-mail for every new registration, and sometimes there are spambot registrations amongst them. But untill yesterday this was only a few a year, but overnight I got 32 (!) new registrations and they keep rolling in every 15 minutes or so. I run the latest PHPBB version and spambot countermeasures are on. We first had the ReCaptcha option, but that didn't work well. Then we changed it to a Q&A version and that worked. I changed the question an hour ago, but the new spam registrations keep happening, whatever I do. Help!

• Cisco ASA - Unable to create "range" type of network object on 8.2

  I'm wanting to block a range of ip addresses on my Cisco ASA 5520 (8.2) using ASDM 6.4. In the help files/cisco documentation, it says, just create a network object with a "range" type, and use that in a blocking access rule... When I'm accessing the ASA (8.2) with ASDM 6.4, I go to configfirewallobjectnetwork objects & groups, then click "add" to add the IP range as a "network object", I get the following 4 fields to fill out: Name: IP address: Netmask: Description: That's all... In the context-sensitive help files, it says that there should be a Type drop-down to select, with "range" being one of the options, but there is no "Type" drop-down list... If I try to create a "network object group" instead of just "network object", then I get a "Type" drop down list, but it only contains two options: network & host (No "Range" option here either) Can someone help me figure out how to block a range of IP's, using the current 8.2 version on the ASA? • SMTP Server Issue in intersystem cache

  I am facing an issue when I am sending Email from intersystems cache. I am able to send the mail, with out any problem the first time. But the second time when I am trying to send the smtp server is not responding properly. The first Helo command is sent. I recieve the confirmation 220 from the server. But I do not recieve the Message 250. So the next command is giving me the error 503, 5.5.2 "Send helo first" message. I am unable to find out why the server is not responding the second time.

Suppose I have more than a network interfaces and I want to selectively use them per application. eth0 is the standard interface with the standard gateway in the main routing table eth1 is another interface with a different gateway. Suppose I launch an application as a user "user_eth1". I used the following set of rules for iptables / ip rules. IPTABLES: iptables -t mangle -A OUTPUT -m user --uid-owner user_eth1 -j MARK --set-mark 100 iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -m user -uid-owner -o eth1 user_eth1 -j SNAT --to-source <eth_ipaddress> IPRULE: ip rule add fwmark 100 lookup table100 and i build "table100" as follows (no doubts on that) ip route show table main | grep -Ev ^default | while read ROUTE; do ip route add table table100 $ROUTE; done ip route add default via <default_gateway> table table100 It doesn't work at all.
