• Debian Unstable + Postfix 2.6.5 + dkim-filter 2.8.2 issue

  I have Postfix installed on Debian Unstable, as the title states, the system is completely up-to-date, I have tried to get DKIM signatures working on outgoing mail using dkim-filter 2.8.2. I couldn't use the default Debian way of doing things with sockets, instead I used the Ubuntu way: SOCKET="inet:12345@localhost"` I have the following in my postfix/main.cf milter_default_action = accept milter_protocol = 6 smtpd_milters = inet:localhost:12345 non_smtpd_milters = inet:localhost:12345 All is fine except I get the following message I start DKIM in mail.log: dkim-filter[22029]: can't configure DKIM library; continuing And when it tries to sign mails I get the following error: postfix/cleanup[22042]: warning: milter inet:localhost:12345: can't read SMFIC_EOH reply packet header: Success And then dkim-filter daemon stops. I've looked through Google but found no actual way to fix this that works for me. I have this working fine on an Ubuntu server but would love to get it working on Debian too.

• Socket 1155 vs 2011 vs Haswell

  The title says it all. I am trying to decide between sockets and just cant pinpoint which to get based on pros and cons. The build this will go into will be my primary PC. It will be used for every day computing, coding, some multimedia and gaming. I have read that 1155 and 2011 will be dead within the new year and that Haswell will double the performance of Ivy Bridge. What is a general run down on the different sockets? Pros and Cons? More specifically what are the technical differences between the three?

• How can I stop Ubuntu from playing audio from 2 interfaces at the same time?

  Hi there, I just loaded Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick on my home machine. The machine is running a Core2Duo E6750 on an MSI motherboard with an Nvidia GTX260-OC Graphics card. The problem I am having as stated in the title is for some reason Ubuntu is playing audio through my headphone coming out from the computer and it is also playing the audio at the exact same time through the HDMI connection coming out of the graphics card, it has a plug to allow this. What is going on, I have never seen this before. Most importantly of all can it be fixed so that I can sepertate the 2 interfaces, the one is a standard PC audio IO and the HDMI one is connected through the mobo's internal SPDIF. More information can be provided if required.

  I am trying to create a multiboot USB drive with grub4dos. I started with a working bootable WinPE-like USB drive, based on Windows 7. I modified the drive MBR with grubinst.exe (hd1), copied in its root grldr and the menu menu.lst file: color blue/green yellow/red white/magenta white/magenta timeout 30 default 0 title Win 7 test rootnoverify (hd0, 0) chainloader /bootmgr I get the error: Try (hd0, 0). This partition is ntfs but with unknown boot record Try (hd0, 1) ... ... Cannot find GRLDR. If I hit a key, anyway it boots Windows 7. I would like to drop to the GRUB command shell, but when I hit "c" Grub boots into Windows.

• IIS6 - Change the language to English

  I have a Windows 2003 VM Image which was created by a Swedish Windows Install. Afterwards the language settings of the machine was changed to English. However, I just added IIS6 Windows component to the machine (from Add/Remove Programs) - IIS6 is not in English. It's in Swedish. IIS Manager's Menu options are in English, but the Title Bar uses hanteraren(Swedish for Manager). The IIS Error pages come in Swedish. How do I get IIS's default language back in English.

• How to make ClearType looks ok even with large fonts

  I discovered that on large/huge fonts ClearType does have a negative impact. Just take a look at http://patterns.dataincubator.org/book/ page (check title with huge fonts versus normal text). If you are on Windows 7 you can use Win+Plus/Minus to zoom in/out. I'm looking for a configuration that would make both small fonts and large fonts look well. The system is Windows 7 but I suppose you could replicate the problem on Vista and even XP if you activate ClearType. Current results: ClearType on and tunned - small fonts looking good and large one looking bad ClearType off - small fonts looking bad and large one looking ok (smoothed)

  We are using Deployment Rule Sets to limit access to the older JRE to well-known applications like - but are running into a problem. One business critical applications has the following properties (*s to protect info): title: Enterprise Services Repository location: null jar location: http://app.*.com:52400/rep/repository/*.jar jar version: null isArtifact: true The application downloads a .jnlp file, and uses java web start to execute. Since the location is null, this application cannot be targeted by a location rule. And the certificate hash method only works when the application is cached (being ran more than once). If cache storing is off, which is the case in some situations, how can this application be targeted? Or at least told to run with an older JRE on start? This problem is specifically noted in this bug Thanks!

I've looked in the BIOS; there's nothing there. Is there any way I can force it to go higher? Thanks :)

  As the title says, I'm trying to find how to run adb commands through a pre-written script (such as how .bat and .vbs files work) so I can make a semi automatic program to pull some files from my android phone whenever I click on the launch.bat which launches a line of program to go through the phone and find certain files. I know the script line: adb pull /data/data/kik.android/databases/ %drive%\All\Database This copies all the files in this specific database into the flash drive's folder "Database" under the "All" folder. But, how could i make it so that the adb program looks through the phone and finds other files, and how could i pull the specific files, rather than pulling the entire folder?

• Windows Server 2008, IIS7 and Windows Authentication

  We currently have a development server set up which we are trying to test some Windows authentication ASP.NET code on. We have turned on Windows Authentication in IIS7 on Windows Server 2008 R2 fine, and it asks the user for a username and password as excepted, but the problem is it doesn't appear to accept any credentials. This code for example... Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Page.Title = "Home page for " + User.Identity.Name End Sub ...always returns an empty string. One theory we have is that we dont have Active Directory installed as of yet, we are just testing this by logging on via the machine name not a domain. Is this type of authentication only applicatable to domains (if so we can probably install Active Directory and some test accounts) - or is it possible to get the user identity when logging in using the machine name? Ideally we would like to be able to test this on our local machines (Windows 7 Pro) using our own accounts (again these aren't on a domain) and IIS but this has the same issue as our dev server.   The title says it all. I need to have the ability for a local user account to log on as a service on a computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. In Windows 7 Ultimate, this is accomplished by going to Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Local Security Policy and adding the user to the "Log on as a service" policy. In Home Premium, there is no Local Security Policy in the Control Panel. Is there another way to add the use to that policy (i.e. registry setting) or is my only recourse to upgrade the computer to Windows 7 Professional? Thanks in Advance, Ryan

• Adobe Reader seems to use wrong lpr command when printing to CUPS

  Hi, on my debian lenny box, printing via CUPS works fine, e.g. using OpenOffice. When printing from Adobe Reader, however, stuff doesn't work. It appears the problem happens during the first step of the process, when Adobe Reader talks to lpr. I guess this is the reason because I get an error message from Adobe Reader like: The following error occurred while printing... 'usage: lpr [-cdfghlmnpqrstv] [-#num] [-1234 font] [-C class] [-i [numcols]] [-J job] [-Pprinter] [-T title] [-U user] [-wnum] [name ...]' Looks like lpr complains about the way Adobe Reader talks to it, doesn't it? This happens no matter if I print to my laser or to CUPS-PDF. It seems like Adobe Reader sends a command like lpr -P CUPS-PDF -o PageSizeA4 -o blah -o blah Is there anything I can configure to make things work?

• How can you add two lines of text on a single line in Word 2010?

  Odd title, wasn't sure how to word it. Basically, I have two separate fonts I want to be on the same line, for resume purposes. My name is in a large font at the top, and I want my email and website address right-aligned directly beside it, one on top of the other.   I asked this a little bit ago, but instead of specifying Pure-FTPD I just said Apache. Per the answer to that question, I'm asking again with "Pure-FTPD" in the title this time. I need to allow someone access to my VPS via FTP, but there are a number of directories that the person must not be allowed to view or modify. For example, something like this: private_info_1 public_info_1 private_info_2 public_info_2 In this example, the FTP user would need to be allowed to do stuff in the public directories, but not the private ones. How do I go about doing this with Pure-FTPD? I have cPanel and SSH access.

  There is a tool in pen drive linux that allows you to boot directly with multiple iso files. And here is a sample in the menu.lst which allows you to choose which iso file you want to boot. title Fedora 13 find --set-root /Fedora-12-i686-L.iso map /ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso (0xff) map --hook root (0xff) kernel /casper/vmlinuz file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper persistent iso-scan/filename=/ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso splash initrd /casper/initrd.lz I'm just using it on my 8gb flash drive and the location of the iso file is in the flash drive itself. Is it possible to reference other locations. So that I could boot from it, without limitations. because the flash drive can only contain 8gb of data. Is it possible? Anyone here tried this before?

• GIMP Slow Startup

  Is there any way to speed up GIMP's startup time on Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit 1.6 [Dual] Intel Processors? On XP [different computer], it loads in less than 3 seconds. On Vista, it takes 20 seconds: 2 Seconds (other - fonts, brushes, etc) 18 Seconds (extension-script-fu) It just freezes at extension-script-fu. Looking at ProcessExplorer (or Task Manager, whatever), I see that it's not taking any CPU. EDIT: it does seem to be taking 50% of the CPU. It gets stuck for about 18 seconds, then starts working again, and the actual GIMP program pops up [...finally]. I have the latest stable version running (I think). I tried it with XP SP2 Compatibiliy mode and/or Run As Administrator, but that didn't help. EDIT: One way would be to disable script-fu. Does anyone know how to disable it at startup? (NOTE: Just wanted to point out that the title and the tags are the same. :D )

• Migrating Roaming Profiles from one drive to another

  As the title suggests, how can I migrate roaming profiles located in one drive (starting to fill up already) to another? Current share is like this "SVR1\Shares\UserProfiles\%username%\ But of course, this is located in C:/Shares/UserProfiles/%username%/ What do I need to do? Do I simply copy/paste into the bigger(RAID1) drive and then repoint all the profile paths (using AD Users&Computers profile properties)? What if I can point this to a different file server all together? Best practices? tips? anything you guys can suggest. Thanks!

  The title pretty much says it all. My experience w/ubuntu is VERY limited. I did find the system test feature and ran an audio test. It found my device as Intel 82801DB-ICH4. I wasn't getting anything. I tried a couple of things and don't really even remember what I tried, but I started getting audio (not just beeps) from the system's internal speaker. Any ideas? (I can't rule out a hardware problem. This box sat under my bed for a couple of years and it's first life was in an environment FULL of cement dust.)H

• Anytime I upload something, my internet slows down extremely. What can I do?

  Title says it all. For a bit more info though: Basically, I have Time Warner cable internet. My speeds maintain a stable 2Mbit/s upload and 20Mbit/s download with average ping times around 30ms. This crazy thing happens though when I upload anything. I went to upload a 200M file to my server today through sftp and my internet completely choked up. I speed tested it during this upload and my ping time was around 800ms, download speeds of 0.2Mbit/s and Upload speeds of 0.3Mbit/s. Note, I wasn't downloading anything during this time either. It is just straight upload. What is it that causes this phenomenon? My router is OpenBSD. Is there anything I could set up to fix this problem(by queues or some such), or is this a problem with cable internet?

• Install mSATA SSD on Lenovo A720

  I apologize in advance for using tag names in title, it seemed it would be clearer this way I just purchased a Lenovo A720 and they have a more expensive version than what I purchased that has a SSD. I figured to buy the SSD separately and save myself a little money and install it myself. I've taken off the base cover but there doesn't seem to be a place to put the SSD. Here are some pictures - any suggestions? There are places on the web where people have said they've done the installation but not how or with pictures. • Firefox switches focus to previous window when the current newly opened window's page loads

  The title pretty much sums it up. After opening the browser, when I open a new window (private browsing) and load the first page of interest, the focus goes back to the last Firefox window. It works with more than just 1 main and 1 private windows, like for example 3 main and 2 private windows. It repeats after closing all browser windows, waiting for it to unload and opening the browser again. I'm using Windows 7 and the latest version of Firefox, and it's been happening to me for about half a year on two different computers and a notebook (same OS and browser version). It's pretty annoying. How do I fix this?
