• Split or individually edit repeating Google Calendar events

  Our company just moved from Microsoft Exchange with Outlook to Google Mail, Calendar, etc. and I am trying to modify a calendar event where it repeats, but the times across the days are not the same. I created an event from 10h00 to 16h30 and made it repeat for two days. Now the times need to be adjusted independently for the two days. I could just cancel the repeat and book a new appointment for the second day but the event has a confirmed room booking and with rooms at a premium I worry that someone else may grab the room before I can create the new second day event. Outlook had a way to modify repeating events individually but I'm not seeing anything like that in the Google Calendar web client. So my question is whether there is a way to individually edit repeating events, or failing that, to split the repeating event into individual ones?

• Crontab stopped unexpectedly

It didn't run as scheduled after a capistrano deploy, didn't get a mail either. It worked fine earlier, and I am unable to understand what wrong. The only change that was made was the deploy, but I think it should not affect the cron. I tried using pgrep cron to see if crons is working. It gives 904 as output. Could someone please help.   Is there any way to control which hosts are permitted to connect to the cleanup daemon over TCP? Our 'master.cf' contains: 2526 inet n - - - 0 cleanup This is necessary because we have a cluster of SMTP servers running custom code, and they can all inject mail to the centralized postfix server via the cleanup daemon. However, we want to allow only our authorized servers to connect to the cleanup daemon. The current configuration allows any host to connect to port 2526. Clearly we can use iptables to restrict access, but is there a way to do this within postfix itself?

• Redirecting email from from domain registrar to hosting comapny mailbox

  I have the domain example.com registered with company A I have the hosting with company B (ServerGrove) Company A offers me simple parking, and company B offers me mailbox service. What I would like is to use the hosting company mail service. How do I configure the DNS records in company A to be forwarded to company B mailbox? I think I have to add a MX record to company A's configuration, and then the same in company B's DNS records, is this correct? I think I'm mixing concepts, and cannot see a clear solution, I've tried several configurations but all failed. Any help would be appreciated. Regards.

• Exchange Online - granting admin rights on a multi-domain account

  I'm the admin of a handful of domains on Office 365. The thing is some of my clients would like to manage their mailboxes by themselves. So I started looking into it and the closest I got was this page: http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/158/p/20912/98083.aspx I created a Group Role with a Write Scope according to that post. I also assigned the Reset Password, Recipiants Creation, Mail Recipients and Distribution Groups rolls. But unfortunately that just doesnt work. The user in question is still unable to manage anything. Any suggestions?

• Outlook 2010 stopped marking messages as read after reading them

  Yesterday I noticed that Outlook 2010 had stopped marking messages as read unless I right click and select Mark as Read. I have checked the Reading Panel settings (it's set to 0 seconds), but I don't use the reading panel to read my mail. When I open a message by doubleclicking it, then close it again, the message is still marked as Read. Outlook 2010 is connecting to Exchange Server 2003. This was working fine until yesterday. As far as I know there have been no config changes at either the client or server end.

• How to Reset Windows 7 to its default font for the whole system?

  This might sound a little bit silly but please bear with me. Somehow I changed my default display font, the one that Windows uses for system dialog boxes, accept/cancel buttons, pretty much everything in the system (it even goes as far as to change how my the text in my web browser appears). Now everything that it's affected looks like under the effects of the bold button in office (very black and very thick words). This is an inconvenience for example on some mail accounts who use this effect to display unread messages. Is there any way to return it to its default state, non "bold" typography for the whole system?

• Exchange 07 to 07 mailbox migration using local continuous replication

  I have an existing Exchange Server ex0 and a fresh Exchange Server ex1, both 2007SP3. The servers are in different sites so users cannot access mailboxes on ex1 as from my understanding, a standalone CAS is required for this. I am thinking of doing the following: Enable local continous replication of the storage group on ex0 to a mapped drive that points to the corresponding storage group folder on ex1 At some point when the replication is done (small number of users and volume of mail), say on a late night on the weekend, disable CAS on ex0 (or otherwise redirect requests on the server-side from ex0 to ex1) AND change the public DNS name of the CAS so that it points to ex1. Will my plan work? If not, please explain what I can do to fix it.

• windows 8 on macbook locks after 2 mins despite high performance settings

  I am running my Macbook Prop as a Windows 8 machine using bootcamp and for some reason, when I leave the keyboard/mouse alone for 2 mins it locks the PC (i.e. goes to the lock screen). I have (of course) checked the power settings and I can assure you that it is not set to these settings. I did notice that when I added my work's Mail Account the computer asked me to accept some group policy settings, which I did, so I suspect that this is a group policy setting, but I cannot find it. Can someone help? P.S. I have searched these forums first, and this is different to the PC going to sleep once locked, this is locking while logged in after 2 mins. Thanks.

• In Outlook 2010, can you add "Categories" to the "New Email" Ribbon?

  I couldn't figure out how to do this in Outlook 2007, and I was hoping I could do it in Outlook 2010... I want the ability to quickly apply a category when composing a new email (typically a "Waiting For..." category) for things that need a response. It is possible to apply a category by clicking the "Options" ribbon, then the little arrow under the More Options section - but why can't I get the nice big "Categories" drop-down that's available in the "Tags" section of the main Outlook window. There are about a kabillion commands in the "Customize Ribbon" dialog box for the New Mail window, but I couldn't find anything about Categories. Should I just give up?

  I have a domain dedicated for my local server (.dev), and an .htaccess file which redirects requests like http://folder.dev/subfolder/ to /htdocs/folder/subfolder. It works great and all, except for one minor issue. When I have the Directory Listing enabled, I can access all the folders, subfolders and files properly, except when I click on the Parent Directory link, which, for example, should lead to http://folder.dev, but redirects to http://folder.dev/folder/ and consequently throws 404 not found. Similarly, if Parent Directory should link to http://folder.dev/subfolder/, it links to http://folder.dev/folder/subfolder/. • Cannot send email from EC2 instance on port 587

  I have written a mail service for our flask application that uses Celery and RabbitMQ to send emails (using gmail). I have got the celery consumer and producer communicating okay but I cannot get to send send emails. I am getting a socket.error: [Errno 101] Network is unreachable. I think this means that AWS is blocking port 587 - even though in my security group I opened both ports 587 and 25 (inbound and outbound). Any reason why this is happening? Any help will be highly appreciated.

• Exchange 2010 allows outside access to network files

  One of our users discovered by accident he could access our network files from his smartphone while at home. No VPN needed. He was sent an email with an internal link to a network share on his android. When he opened the email and clicked on the link, he could browse our files while at home. Looking at the access logs, the connection to the share and files he accessed came from our mail server (Exchange 2010). We have no sharepoint servers running at all, and certainly not on the Exchange server. What is this function/feature called, and is it possible to turn this function/feature off? Should I turn this off?

• How can I check for a string match AND an empty file in the same if/then bash script statement?

  I'm writing a simple bash script to do the following: 1) Check two files (foo1 and foo2). 2) If foo1 is different from foo2 and foo1 NOT blank, send an email. 3) If foo1 is the same as foo2... or foo1 is blank... do nothing. The blank condition is what's confusing me. Here's what I've got to start with: diff --brief <(sort ./foo1) <(sort ./foo2) >/dev/null comp_value=$? if [ $comp_value -ne 0 ] then mail -s "Alert" [email protected] <./alertfoo fi Obviously this doesn't check for blank contents. Any thoughts on how to do that?

  Last night I came up to sometihng intersting while designing my new project that brought me to ask this qustion here. My project is supposed to follow Table Gateway pattern using tradional ADO.Net datasets for data access. I don't want to write plain queries in my data-access classes. So I came up with an idea of writing a parser kindaa api that exposes objects and methods to generate queries on the move based on my domain objects. Later I want this api to hook up to my Business objects and provide Typed SQL generator api right on the business object instances. Any idea or references how can I do this ? This seems very wide to start with that I'm compelled take your opinions here. Does there anything already exists that can do this ?

  Is it somehow possible to link Facebook address each username is given to Gmail? Obviously, there is the "Accounts, Send mail as" feature, but that used to return an error ...   I've got a question about Trash/Drafts/Sent folders. By default when I created mailboxes via ISPManager panel, it wast Inbox.Sent, Inbox.Trash, Inbox.Drafts. which I didn't like because having sent and drafts as subfolder to inbox was kinda lame imo. I wanted those 3 to be as separate folders, not as subfolders. Creating them was no problem, just .Sent (for example) in maildir and clients can see it. The questions, how I "make" server to know that it should now send deleted mail to .Trash instead of .Inbox.trash, drafts and sent to their new fodlers respectively.

Now I am setting up virtual users for dovecot. But however, I also notice I can setup users in sendmail itself. Why is it so that you can setup users in 2 different places. • How to select the page range to print in Windows 8 Modern UI apps?

  Today I wanted to print an email from the Mail app (modern UI). I selected devices from the charms bar, and I chose my printer. The problem is that it was a very long email (a 40 replies unthreaded email), and I only needed the first page. It looks like there is no way to select a page range in the simple printing dialog, am I right? I solved the problem by inserting just one page in the printer and then deleting the job, but this is not a real fix... (I could print to a PDF printer, then open in Acrobat and print again, but...)

  A friend of mine just told me that he can't send mails to accounts on one of my servers via the SMTP server provided by his ISP. The error message in the bounce he gets reads: Hi. This is the qmail-send program at aon.at. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out. <[email protected]>: CNAME lookup failed temporarily. (#4.4.3) I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long. Any ideas what could be the reason for this? I have double-checked the DNS records for my domain, but they seem perfectly fine, and from any other mail servers I tested, delivery works flawlessly…

• 56.6 Modem with CallerID

  Does anyone still know anything about the 56.6 modems? I'm looking for one that is easy to access via C#/VB.Net, has Caller ID and is either low-profile or USB. Also that neat little feature that lets the modem block the call from the phone (pass-through) until it has received the CallerID info would be really nice! Obviously I could just go to Best Buy and get what they have but I have no way of knowing how friendly it would be to write code for and I don't want to make multiple trips returning/exchanging etc. I'm not going to be doing anything with voice or voice mail, just recording the number from CallerID.   Someone has pointed an unknown domain to my server's IP address likely via A records. I would like to reject access to ALL services (httpd, ssh, mail, etc.) from this domain and only allow requests from my domain. I want to make it so when I connect to that domain it's completely rejected from my server. I can disallow access from HTTP by changing my web server settings, but I want to do this for every single type of connection. How can I do this?

  I have a server (debian) with two network interfaces that I would like to host multiple services and domains on; it is not entirely clear to me how the hosts file should be set up. Example: eth0, bound to WAN interface 1.2.3.4: mail.example.com www.example.com eth0:1, bound to WAN interface 1.2.3.5: www.other-domain.com eth1, bound to LAN 192.168.1.123: some-clever-hostname What should my hosts file look like? (including localhost,localhost.localdomain, etc.) Should I use DNS for some of these entries? Which ones? Thanks!

• When Typing on my mac the cursor moves/deletes/replaces text.

  Help! I don't know what is happening, with my computer (Macbook Black OSX 1ha0.6.6) but recently whenever I am typing my cursor suddenly moves in the middle of my frase or paragraph, deleting text, replacing words or just closing applications. I don't know what might be the cause but it's driving me crazy. I have disabled typinator (which had worked fine for a couple of months) and looked through the keybindings in SystemPreferencesKeyboardKeyboard Shortcuts. But for have not been able to find any answers. It happens in all apps that require typing. Textmate, Chrome, FIrefox, Texedit, Mail. Does anybody know if there is a way I can review all keyboard shortcuts, to see if the issue lies there or any suggestions? Thanking you dearly Dave
