C# Cast Class to Overridden Class

I have a class Application that I need to override with INotifyPropertyChanged events. I have written the logic to override the original class and ended up creating SuperApplication I am pulling the data from a library though, and cannot change the loading logic. I just need a way to get the data from the original class into my superClass. I've tried things like superClass = (SuperApplication)standardClass; but it hasn't worked. How would I go about doing this? How can I split a LINESTRING into two LINESTRINGs at a given point?

Hello, I'm trying to write a function that will split a LINESTRING into two LINESTRINGs given the split point. What I'm trying to achieve is a function that given a LINESTRING and a distance, it will return N LINESTRINGS for the original linestring splitted at multiples of that distance. The above code approximates the resulting LINESTRING because it does not follow the curvature of the original LINESTRING as it only takes into consideration the start and end points when creating the new segment. Is there a way take a substring out of the original LINESTRING given the start and end points?

Which is the best license for my Open Source project?

I am a web developer, and I don't have enough knowledge about software licenses. I wish to publish some of my works, and I need to select licenses for them. My software product is free of cost. But I have some restrictions on the distribution/modification of the code. It's free of cost (but donations are acceptable ;-)). The source code is freely available. You can use, customize or edit/remove code (as long as the basic nature of the software is not changed). You don't have any permission to change the product name. There are some libraries and classes which are in a folder caller "myname". You don't have the permission to rename "myname". You can contribute any additions or modifications to my project, to the original source repository (the contributors name/email/site link will be listed on the credit file). You can't remove the original author's name from the license. You can put the license file or license code anywhere in the project file or folder. You can redistribute this code as free or commercial software. :) Do you think all these restrictions are valid? Given these restrictions, which license should I use? Edit 1:- My main intention is to make the product more popular with free source code while ensuring the original author is not ignored. The product is open. Create and Share a File (Also a mysterious error)

My goal is to create a XML file and then send it through the share Intent. I'm able to create a XML file using this code FileOutputStream outputStream = context.openFileOutput(fileName, Context.MODE_WORLD_READABLE); PrintStream printStream = new PrintStream(outputStream); String xml = this.writeXml(); // get XML here printStream.println(xml); printStream.close(); I'm stuck trying to retrieve a Uri to the output file in order to share it. I first tried to access the file by converting the file to a Uri File outFile = context.getFileStreamPath(fileName); return Uri.fromFile(outFile); This returns file:///data/data/com.my.package/files/myfile.xml but I cannot appear to attach this to an email, upload, etc. If I manually check the file length, it's proper and shows there is a reasonable file size. Next I created a content provider and tried to reference the file and it isn't a valid handle to the file. The ContentProvider doesn't ever seem to be called a any point. Uri uri = Uri.parse("content://" + CachedFileProvider.AUTHORITY + "/" + fileName); return uri; This returns content://com.my.package.provider/myfile.xml but I check the file and it's zero length. How do I access files properly? Do I need to create the file with the content provider? If so, how? Update Here is the code I'm using to share. Why does Python's 'for ... in' work differently on a list of values vs. a list of dictionaries?

I'm wondering about some details of how for ... in works in Python. My understanding is for var in iterable on each iteration creates a variable, var, bound to the current value of iterable. So, if you do for c in cows; c = cows[whatever], but changing c within the loop does not affect the original value. However, it seems to work differently if you're assigning a value to a dictionary key. cows=[0,1,2,3,4,5] for c in cows: c+=2 #cows is now the same - [0,1,2,3,4,5] cows=[{'cow':0},{'cow':1},{'cow':2},{'cow':3},{'cow':4},{'cow':5}] for c in cows: c['cow']+=2 # cows is now [{'cow': 2}, {'cow': 3}, {'cow': 4}, {'cow': 5}, {'cow': 6}, {'cow': 7} #so, it's changed the original, unlike the previous example I see one can use enumerate to make the first example work, too, but that's a different story, I guess. cows=[0,1,2,3,4,5] for i,c in enumerate(cows): cows[i]+=1 # cows is now [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6] Why does it affect the original list values in the second example but not the first?

I just discovered why all ASP.Net websites are slow, and I am trying to work out what to do about it

I just discovered that every request in an ASP.Net web application gets a Session lock at the begging of a request, and then releases it at the end of the request!!! I mean, WTF Microsoft! In case the implication is lost on you, as it was from me at first, this basically means the following: Anytime an ASP.Net webpage is taking a long time to load (maybe due to a slow database call or whatever), and the user decides they want to navigate to a different page because they are tired of waiting, THEY CANT! The ASP.Net session lock forces the new page request to wait until the original request has finished its painfully slow load. Arrrgh. Anytime an UpdatePanel is loading slowly, and the user decides to navigate to a different page before the UpdadePanel has finished updating... THEY CANT! The ASP.Net session lock forces the new page request to wait until the original request has finished its painfully slow load. Double Arrrgh! So what are the options? So far I have come up with: Implement a Custom SessionStateDataStore, which ASP.Net supports. I haven't found too many out there to copy, and it seems kind of high risk and easy to mess up. Keep track of all requests in progress, and if a request comes in from the same user, cancel the original request. Seems kind of extreme, but it would work (I think) Don't user Session! When I need some kind of state for the user, I could just user Cache instead, and key items on the authenticated user's name, or some such thing. Again seems kind of extreme I really can't believe that the ASP.Net Microsoft team would have left such a huge performance bottleneck in the framework at version 4.0! Am I missing something obvious? How hard would it be to use a ThreadSafe collection for the Session? Arrrrghhhhhh. Any advice much appreciated.

My company have develop a web application using php + mysql. The system can display a product's original price and discount price to the user. If you haven't logined, you get the original price, if you loginned , you get the discount price. It is pretty easy to understand. But my company want more features in the system, it want to display different prices base on different user. For example, user A is a golden parnter, he can get 50% off. User B is a silver parnter, only have 30 % off. But this logic is not prepare in the original system, so I need to add some attribute in the database, at least a user type in this example. Is there any recommendation on how to merge current database to my new version of database. Also, all the data should preserver, and the server should works 24/7. (within stop the database) Is it possible to do so? Also , any recommend for future maintaince advice? Thz u.

How to remove words based on a word count

Here is what I'm trying to accomplish. I have an object coming back from the database with a string description. This description can be up to 1000 characters long, but we only want to display a short view of this. So I coded up the following, but I'm having trouble in actually removing the number of words after the regular expression finds the total count of words. Does anyone have good way of dispalying the words which are less than the Regex.Matches? Once I hover out I want to check the hidden field for it's original value and put an image in changed if the 2 are different from each other. Here is my plan, and goals: Overall Goals: Security with a certain amount of simplicity & database-to-database transferrability, 'cause I'm no expert and could mess it up and I don't want to have to ask a lot of users to reset their passwords. Easy to wipe the passwords for publishing a "wiped" databased of test data. (e.g. I'd like to be able to use a postgresql statement to simply reset all passwords to something simple so that testers can use that testing data for themselves). Plan: Hashing the passwords Account creation records the original email that an account is created with, forever. A global salt is used, e.g. "90fb16b6901dfceb73781ba4d8585f0503ac9391". An account specific salt, the original email the account was created with, is used, e.g. "[email protected]". The users's password is used, e.g. "password123" (I'll be warning against weak passwords in the signup form) The combination of the global salt, account specific salt, and password is hashed via some hashing method in postgresql (haven't been able to find documentation for hashing functions in postgresql, but being able to use sha-2 or something like that would be nice if I could find it). The hash gets stored in the database. Recovering an account To change their password, they have to go through standard password reset (and that reset email gets sent to the original email as well as the most recent account email that they have set). Flaws? Are there any flaws with this that I need to address? And are there best practices to doing hashing fully within postgresql?

Entities used to serialize data have changed. How can the serialized data be upgraded for the new entities?

Hi, I have a bunch of simple entity instances that I have serialized to a file. In the future, I know that the structure of these entities (ie, maybe I will rename Name to Header or something). The thing is, I don't want to lose the data that I have saved in all these old files. What is the proper way to either load the data from the old entities into new entities upgrade the old files so that they can be used with new entities Note: I think I am stuck with binary serialization, not xml serialization. Thanks in advance! Edit: So I have an answer for the case I have described. I can use a dataContractSerializer and do something like [DataMember("bar")] private string foo; and change the name in the code and keep the same name that was used for serialization. But what about the following additional cases: The original entity has new members which can be serialized Some serialized members that were in the original entity are removed Some members have actually changed in function (suppose that the original class had a FirstName and LastName member and it has been refactored to have only a FullName member which combines the two) To handle these, I need some sort of interpreter/translator deserialization class but I have no idea what I should use

Simple javascript/jquery append, remove question

Hey guys, quick question. I have a div that on click will execute a jquery function onclick, and then replace the div with its opposite div which onclick will replace back to the first div just like the favorite function on this site. I am having a simple problem I hope someone can spot or explain to me it is not possible. The function works with the initial two divs that are served directly, but when I click on either of the original two divs, and the function executes and replaces the div with the corresponding div the replacement div does not execute the function. I have to refresh the page to get the original div, which is identical to execute the function. Is the div actually replaced on the page with append, or does it just visually show it? Error Message, "The Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks"

I'm receiving this error on a page that previously worked fine, in fact the only change I've made to the page recently was to add another asp:TextBox and asp:RequiredFieldValidator control. The page already had numerous ASP.NET controls on it, so I cannot see why these extra controls would make a difference, anyway I shall post the code below and hopefully you can see what the error is: Background Image not showing up in IE8

So I have a tiny header image that repeats on the x axis, but for some reason it won't show up in IE8. Anyone know a work around? Debugging HTML & JavaScript with Firebug

I made a JSONP widget. However, when one of the partner sites put it in their page, (1) it doesn't render at all in IE and (2) in other browsers (Firefox & Google Chrome), the HTML of the widget renders incorrectly: the <aside> closes prematurely, before the Financial Aid Glossary. It's something specific to that page because it works fine on this example college resource center page. To fix these two issues, I tried saving the page source to a local file and messing around with the local file and with Firebug, deleting DOM elements and stuff. I even tried fixing the errors that The W3C Markup Validation Service found. But, I still couldn't get it to render correctly. Excel error "This workbook contains Excel 4.0 macros or Excel 5.0 modules"

I have a workbook that was protected via the Protect Workbook feature. It was sent to someone else to modify. When they sent it back, it was unprotected and when I try to reprotect it I get this error, "This workbook contains Excel 4.0 macros or Excel 5.0 modules. If you would like to password protect or restrict permission to this document, you need to remove these macros." I looked and there are no new macros in the edited file. The original file contained the same macros and it was able to be write protected, so I'm not sure why the modified file is having a problem. What are common causes and solutions for this error and does it make sense for the modified file to have the error when the original doesn't?

Getting client denied when accessing a wsgi graphite script

I'm trying to set up graphite on my Mac OS X 10.7 lion, i've set up apache to call the python graphite script via WSGI, but when i try to access it, i get a forbiden from apache and in the error log. "client denied by server configuration: /opt/graphite/webapp/graphite.wsgi" I've checked that the scripts location is allowed in httpd.conf, and the permissions of the file, but they seem correct. What do i have to do to get access. Windows 2008, IIS7 and virtual directories

I created a virtual directory called test (C:\test) under the Default Web Site and added two simple test files (one html and one aspx). I thought I had to add the IUSR and NetworkService (for application pools) to C:\test and grant the users appropriate rights in order for IIS7 to serve the content. It appears that is not the case at all as I can view any files in the virtual directory (even if I convert it to an application) without changing or adding any security settings on the C:\test folder. I just installed IIS7 with ASP.NET on Windows 2008 without changing any settings besides adding the virtual directory. Am I missing something? Even my book on IIS7 states that the user accounts should be added an appropriate rights should be added. I added the following to answer the comments: I am referencing the file using a public IP http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/test/one.html and the IP nor localhost is in my trusted sites. I am not signed in on the server at all as I am accessing the content from my home machine and the content is on my production server. The following users/groups have access to c:\test on the server (Creator Owner, System, Administrators, Users) and the app pool is running under the default NetworkService account. I basically installed win2008, added the IIS role with asp.net. I then opened IIS7, added a virtual directory and copied two files to the directory to test. It works which is great but I want to understand why it works. How is it that IIS7 can access files in the C:\test folder without any permissions set.

Email with extra '.com' behind sender email address

Currently I had a situation where I sent an email to [email protected], but when I receive mail from [email protected], it showed as [email protected], with extra '.com' behind the email address, this just happen within this week. Before this, I didn't change any setting, currently I am using Outlook 2010. When I checked the email in webmail, it also showed it as [email protected]. It seem that it has nothing to do with Outlook. However, I also tried on Thunderbird 16.0.1, but still the problem is the same. Has anyone experienced this before? Is the problem caused by the sender or receiver?
