Currently we are doing something like creating a JMenu on right click and setting its location to that of the mouse's position... This seems really ugly and is very buggy, is there any better way of doing this? I'm sure there must be.

  • How efficient is a details table?

    At my job, we have pseudo-standard of creating one table to hold the "standard" information for an entity, and a second table, named like 'TableNameDetails', which holds optional data elements. On average, for every row in the main table will have about 8-10 detail rows in it. My question is: What kind of performance impacts does this have over adding these details as additional nullable columns on the main table?

    How would I go around creating a MYSQL table schema inspecting an Excel(or CSV) file. Are there any ready Python libraries for the task? Column headers would be sanitized to column names. Datatype would be estimated based on the contents of the spreadsheet column. When done, data would be loaded to the table. I have an Excel file of ~200 columns that I want to start normalizing.

    I decided that I want to make a game for the iphone I was thinking of using oolong or sio2 any recommendations? Both have the problem of lack of tutorials, is it possible to somehow use a normal C++ game tutorial and integreate the engines rather than the one used in the tutorials? So if the C++ tutorial talks of creating an engine I can skip it and use sio2 or oolong? Thanks

    I am having a hard time understanding how to change the width of columns when creating a table view. I know you can set the width in pixels of a column but that is not what I want to do. Say, for instance, I have 2 columns and want each column to take up half the screen. How do I do this without explicitly setting the pixels, so that my code can work on multiple screen sizes?

    Hi, I am creating and testing a mysql join query but each time so far it causes the database tables to lockup and the site hangs. I have to then call the host and they kill the locked queries.     Hello, I have a relatively large Conceptual Data Model in PowerDesigner. After generating a Physical Data Model and seeing the DBMS data types, I need to update all of data types(NUMBER/TEXT) for each data item. I'd like to either do a find/replace within the Conceptual Data Model or somehow map to different data types when creating the Physical Data Model. Ex. Change the auto conversion of Text - Clob, to Text - NVARCHAR(20). Thanks!

  • passing LIMIT as parameters to MySQL sproc

    I'm creating a paging class and need to pass in two parameters to my MySQL stored procedure for the LIMIT clause. I'm passing them in as INTs and trying something like this SELECT * FROM `MyTable` LIMIT MyFirstParamInt, MySecondParamInt it gives me an error when I try and save the sproc though. Is there a way to do this that I'm just missing? Or am I going to have to EVAL the whole query and EXECUTE it?

    Could someone write down a very simple basic example in javascript to conceptualize (and hopefully make me understand) how the jQuery plugin design pattern is done and how it works? I'm not interested in how creating plugin for jQuery (so no jQuery code here at all).     I'm fairly new to OOP in PHP, I've made a couple of basic scripts but nothing impressive. All I've really taken from it is that it would probably be easier just make a collection of functions and include them. The structure of classes seems to just confuse what was otherwise a simple process. And in collating everything into a class it doesn't really add any functionality. So I'm clearly missing something. To do this, i have one thread for each place in which i select the tiles and create a thread to download each. Well, the question is how to avoid creating a thread for a tile that already exists in the thread pool. Should not just check if the file exists, since it is possible that the thread for that tile already exists (other place already need that tile) but the file has not been created- Any idea? Thanks

But, I can't seem to pull after that. Is creating a local branch that tracks the origin production by git checkout -b production --track origin production the only option, or, I'm wondering, if there is any other way.

    I am currently in the process of creating an application that records current location of a mobile device in intervals, displaying the route as a coloured line on the device in real-time. At the same time the application is storing the longitude and latitude in a SQLite database as I want the user to be able to bring up that specific route again. The route has a primary key and each waypoint is linked to that route by a foreign key. What would be the easiest way to display the saved route on the map?.
