  I am creating a gallery using jQuery which displays pictures horizontally, with a "left" and "right" button below, that scrolls the row of images. There are plenty of tutorials and plugins for this. The problem for me though, is that 1) I don't know the width of the images. And 2) I need the item I scroll to, to be centered. But I think the normal approach is to allocate a large memory from default heap and manage the allocations and de-allocations ourselves.   I'm creating a web front end to control a small robot. Ajax calls will be made on a keydown, to start the robot, and keyup to stop it. My problem is that when a key is held down the keyup, keydown, and keypress events seem to cycle continually. Does anybody know of a way to only have keydown fire when the key is first pressed and keyup to fire when it has been released?

  I'm creating a website using ASP.NET MVC 2 and I'm thinking of using the default AccountController and Views to take care of the Users. The only problem is that, for all the rest, I'm using a Postgres database. Is there a way to link The account controller to a User class defined by me?
