  • L2TP server - site-to-site vpn connection

    I am not sure this is the right place for this question but here goes. We want to connect users using an L2TP VPN connection to a users at the other end of a SonicWall site-to-site VPN. Currently we have a SonicWall firewall/router contraption in the home-office that is connected to a far-office over a VPN. Communications with machines in the home-office and far-office is fine. We also have an L2TP server running on the SonicWall that outside users can connect to. This gives them access to machines in the home-office. Communication between outside users and the home-office is fine. However outside users connected to the home-office via the L2TP server can't communicate with machines in the far-office. Will there need to be network bridging or routing needed? Or will this simply be a firewall setting to get this working? Thanks for any help or clues you provide! Rob

    I am creating a component that uses a collection and collection items of panels. I can't seem to get the colors to work at runtime, but yet they seem to work just fine at design time. You can download the component source code here: http://www.shaneholmes.net/pasfiles/ There is a Consoles (Tcollection) property, status colors property, and a Edit mode property Each console (TCollectionItem) has a status property when changed, the consoles property is changed based on the components StatusColors property. When the components EditMode property is set to true, you can move the panels around at runtime. Question: Why does the colors only work at designtime and not runtime. thanks

    I have the following problem: - I have a mails that are arriving in my mailbox - these mails contain a specific string in the body - what I want to do is: -- removing this string from the body -- then send this body to another mail adres (send, not forward) What have I already done: A. created a rule that activates the script in incoming messages that contain a certain string in the description This is the rule description: Apply to message with "Maileater" in the subject and on this computer only run "Project1.ChangeString" B. created the script with the following instructions: Public Sub ChangeString(MyMail As MailItem) Dim body As String body = MyMail.body body = Replace (body, "=====================================================", " ") MyMail.body = body MyMail.Save End Sub C. now I want to add in the script the instruction to send the body (or MyMail.body) to a specific mail adres (e.g. [email protected] with description "Support asked") after the replace of the string. is this possible?   • What's the compelling reason to upgrade to Visual Studio 2010 from VS2008?

    Are there new features in Visual Studio 2010 that are must-haves? If so, which ones? For me, the big draws for VS2008 as compared to VS2005 were LINQ, .NET Framework multitargeting, WCF (REST + Syndication), and general devenv.exe reliability. Granted, some of these features are framework things, and not tool things. For the purposes of this discussion, I'm willing to combine them into one bucket. What is the list of must-have features for VS2010 versus VS2008? Are there any? I am particularly interested in C#. Update: I know how to google, so I can get the official list from Microsoft. I guess what I really wanted was, the assessment from people using it, as to which things are really notable. Microsoft went on for 3 pages about 2008/3.5 features, and many people sort of boiled it down to LINQ, and a few other things. What is that short list for VS2010? Summary so far, what people think is cool or compelling: Visual Studio engine multi-monitor support new extensibility model based on WPF, prettier and more usable new TFS stuff, incl automated test tools parallel debugging .NET Framework parallel extensions for .NET C# 4.0 generic variance optional and named params easier interop with non-managed environments, like COM or Javascript VB 10.0 collection and array literals / initializers automatic properties anonymous methods / statement lambdas I read up on these at Zander's blog.   • Any new Sony RAID laptops coming after March 2010?

    My current Sony laptop has RAID 0 (don't worry I back it up 100% every day). I have 2 × 320gb drives giving me 640gb. I want my next laptop to be RAID but with SSD + 500GB drive Unfortunately Sony's current line seems to have abandoned two disk configuations and I really don't want to go to a slower system than I have now. Anybody know if Sony has any RAID laptops (16" or larger) in the pipeline - or do I have to switch to DELL or something else

    I'm looking to buy the new Macbook Air and, being from Windows, am unfamiliar how much memory it would be advisable to have (thinking about the 4GB upgrade). For those from the fairer OS: how much memory does the operating system take up? how much memory does Google Chrome, with 10-15 tabs open, probably a Youtube, Gmail, Docs among them, usually take up? Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint? I plan on purchasing the 1.86Ghz 13" Macbook Air.

  • When to choose "Generate an activator..." when creating a new Eclipse plugin project

    There are lots of Eclipse RCP tutorials that begin with "Create a new plugin project..." It seems that approx. 70% of them specify checking the Generate an activator, a Java class that controls the plug-in life cycle. The others specifically say don't check that toggle. Its not clear to me, what generating an activator class does for you, when you need one, and when you don't. For being a prominent option you get every time you create a new plugin project (it seems to be set on by default) this option isn't very well explained anywhere that I have found. Any advice/rules of thumb on choosing this option when creating Eclipse plugin projects?

Exchange is installed in a safe LAN, there is a Linux relay in DMZ that feeds messages to Exchanges and gets from it the messaged to be delivered on the Net (smart relay). The mail traffic is about 2000 Internet messages/day and probably another 2000 msg/day sent by local users within the organization. The servers hosts 200 users.

  • gpg error - connection already closed?

    omg... hope someone can help me because I am so lost as to what to try next.... I don't know what is causing the error to happen, and I don't see how to figure it out... Keep going between the pgloader.conf examples and what I have, and I don't understand why I keep getting the 'connection already closed' error? The first few lines of my fr.conf is at the very end... I'd really appreciate / love some guidance here... Been trying to get this thing going all morning, and am even getting stuck just on this part...   • Is it a good practice to run identd in 2010?

    I know in the "old days" it was good practice to shut this off. But nowadays I have heard that it improves deliverability of email. In the old days people were not worried about spam (or having their outbound email rejected), so that made sense. Of course, the question is only relevant to servers that send email. What is the current, common practice among discerning Linux admins? Run identd or leave it off? Thanks

  • Will USMT 4.0 in MDT 2010 Move/Migrate the .NK2 File for Outlook?

    We're about to begin a refresh project for about 100 XP Pro laptops and have a concern with regards to the .NK2 file which holds cached email addresses(?). If possible we'd like to have USMT move/migrate this but I can't find anything that confirms that this happens automatically or has been done before. I see lots of manual processes but at this point I'm not sure that we can use that. Has anyone done this or seen this done? Perhaps you can point me to a resource that can give me an idea how its done? Any information would be appreciated. USMT seems to get a lot of the details but missing this part seems odd. Thanks in advance for any responses.

    I use SVN for my work at home and office, but I usually forget to commit the changes before shutdown. Therefore, I wish I could turn on my home/office PC at office/home. I already have TeamViewer installed on both PCs, so it will be okay as soon as the power is turned on. I have read many articles about this, I found both my PC and office computers support Wake-on-LAN. However, I don't know much about other config. And I need to turn on my computers through the Internet, not on LAN. My office Internet connection has static IP, however, my home Internet connection has dynamic IP, it changes as soon as I reset the modem, but it is not a big problem, I rarely turn the Internet modem off. And I don't have privilege to config office Internet connection, but I have Administration privilege on both PCs. Please give me details steps to turn on my office PC from home, and turn on my home PC from office.

The issue is that I need to break this down by where the user registered from (e.g. website, wap site, or a mobile application). the resulting output data should look like this...   • Conditional formatting Excel 2007/2010: Highlight the first cell in the row that contains duplicate values?

    I have a table with hundreds of columns and rows of data; each row and column have a header. For instance, column headers are ITEM, FILE1, FILE2, FILE3, etc. and row headers are AA, BB, CC, DD, and so on. Under conditional formatting, I used "Highlight Cells Rules" "Equal to", in order to highlight cells that have values equal to the value in another cell. In this case, my formula rule is: Rule: Cell Value = $A$1 Applies to: =$B$3:$G$8 When I input "X" into cell A1, Excel will highlight all of the cells that have a value equal to "X", in this case, the following cells are highlighted: B3, C5, G6, and E8. Here's my problem. The data that I am working with contains more than 100 columns and rows. I want to identify all of the ITEMS (AA, BB, CC, etc.) that contain the duplicate file "X". In order to do this I have to scroll right to left, and up and down. Here's my question. Is there a way to use conditional formatting to add an additional rule? I want to keep the current rule, but I also want the row header to be highlighted if any of the cells in that row contain a value equal to "x". In this case, I want AA, CC, DD, and FF to also be highlighted. Is this possible? I've spent days trying to figure this out - and no luck.   • Weird flex date issue

    Flex is driving me CRAZY and I think it's some weird gotcha with how it handles leap years and none leap years. So here's my example. I have the below dateDiff method that finds the number of days or milliseconds between two dates. If I run the following three statements I get some weird issues. dateDiff("date", new Date(2010, 0,1), new Date(2010, 0, 31)); dateDiff("date", new Date(2010, 1,1), new Date(2010, 1, 28)); dateDiff("date", new Date(2010, 2,1), new Date(2010, 2, 31)); dateDiff("date", new Date(2010, 3,1), new Date(2010, 3, 30)); If you were to look at the date comparisons above you would expect to get 30, 27, 30, 29 as the number of days between the dates. There weird part is that I get 29 when comparing March 1 to March 31. Why is that? Is it something to do with February only having 28 days?
