  I've been an android developer for a while and am thinking about getting into gaming. While looking for a game dev framework, I thought libgdx provides very friendly documentation and functionality. So I would like to use it if there is no big obstacle. But when I tried to see how many developers employ this library, I could find not that many. Is there anything wrong with this library? In other words, I would like to know its advantages or disadvantages from any experienced developer. UPDATE: After reviewing its documentations and trying to build simple games with libgdx, I decided to go with it as its documentations are good enough and its community is very active. What I liked the most is that it provides a bunch of demo games that I can learn a lot from.

With on-premise WCF, you can take advantage of MSMQ, so that a message is sent to MSMQ by one endpoint, and another endpoint can get the message in a later time. The message is usually a SOAP message so that you can generate a client proxy and invoke the service operations just as invoking a normal WCF operation.   I'm entering Android game development, and I already have a computer version of a game I want to publish. The thing is, I want to make this as good as it can be. With that said, I need a physics engine, really to only do one thing. That one thing is to make a parabolic movement of my main character as he's jumping in the air. Currently, my computer version simply makes the guy move up at a 45 degree angle, and as soon as it hits the ceiling, down at a 45 degree angle. I need a physics engine/library that would accomplish that, it has to be in java since that's my best language, it has to be 2D, and it has to be able to work on Android. Which physics engine/library could accomplish all of that?

• Installing netcdf c++ interface on ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

  I am using a code which employs the modern netcdf c++ interface (netcdf namespace, include file is called just netcdf without .h or similar, ncFile class, etc) and have just switched to ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS. I installed netcdf and libnetcdf6 with apt-get, but I still get the "old" headers in /usr/local/include (netcdf.h, netcdfcpp.h, etc). In Ubuntu, the library version for netcdf is 4.1.1, while at my own computer with Mac Os X (where I have the right netcdf include file) the version is 4.2.1.1 . I cannot modify the source code I am using. I would like to know if there is a way to upgrade the netcdf library on ubuntu to support the modern c++ ointerface, or, if I have to manually compile it, if you think that using src2pkg is a good idea. This is my first experience with Ubuntu. Thanks in advance.

  Enterprise Manager 12c Release 3 includes improvements and enhancements across every area of the product. This blog provides an overview of the new and enhanced features in the Database Lifecycle Management area. I will deep dive into specific features more in depth in subsequent posts. "What's New?"  In this release, we focused on four things: 1. Lifecycle Management Support for new Database12c - Pluggable Databases 2. Management of long running processes, such as a security patch cycle (Change Activity Planner) 3. Management of large number of systems by · Leveraging new framework capabilities for lifecycle operations, such as the new advanced ‘emcli’ script option · Refining features such as configuration search and compliance 4. Minor improvements and quality fixes to existing features · Rollback support for Single instance databases · Improved "OFFLINE" Patching experience · Faster collection of ORACLE_HOME configurations Lifecycle Management Support for new Database 12c - Pluggable Databases Database 12c introduces Pluggable Databases (PDBs), the brand new addition to help you achieve your consolidation goals. Pluggable databases offer unprecedented consolidation at database level and native lifecycle verbs for creating, plugging and unplugging the databases on a container database (CDB). Enterprise Manager can supplement the capabilities of pluggable databases by offering workflows for migrating, provisioning and cloning them using the software library and the deployment procedures. For example, Enterprise Manager can migrate an existing database to a PDB or clone a PDB by storing a versioned copy in the software library. One can also manage the planned downtime related to patching by  migrating the PDBs to a new CDB. Management of Long Running datacenter processes - Change Activity Planner (CAP) Currently, customers resort to cumbersome methods to create, execute, track and monitor change activities within their data center. Some customers use traditional tools such as spreadsheets, project planners and in-house custom built solutions. Customers often have weekly sync up meetings across stake holders to collect status and updates. Some of the change activities, for example the quarterly patch set update (PSU) patch rollouts are not single tasks but processes with multiple tasks. Some of those tasks are performed within Enterprise Manager Cloud Control (for example Patch) and some are performed outside of Enterprise Manager Cloud Control. These tasks often run for a longer period of time and involve multiple people or teams. Enterprise Manger Cloud Control supports core data center operations such as configuration management, compliance management, and automation. Enterprise Manager Cloud Control release 12.1.0.3 leverages these capabilities and introduces the Change Activity Planner (CAP). CAP provides the ability to plan, execute, and track change activities in real time. It covers the typical datacenter activities that are spread over a long period of time, across multiple people and multiple targets (even target types). Here are some examples of Change Activity Process in a datacenter: · Patching large environments (PSU/CPU Patching cycles) · Upgrading large number of database environments · Rolling out Compliance Rules · Database Consolidation to Exadata environments CAP provides user flows for Compliance Officers/Managers (incl. lead administrators) and Operators (DBAs and admins). Managers can create change activity plans for various projects, allocate resources, targets, and groups affected. Upon activation of the plan, tasks are created and automatically assigned to individual administrators based on target ownership. Administrators (DBAs) can identify their tasks and understand the context, schedules, and priorities. They can complete tasks using Enterprise Manager Cloud Control automation features such as patch plans (or in some cases outside Enterprise Manager). Upon completion, compliance is evaluated for validations and updates the status of the tasks and the plans. Learn More about CAP ...  Improved Configuration & Compliance Management of a large number of systems Improved Configuration Comparison:  Get to the configuration comparison results faster for simple ad-hoc comparisons. When performing a 1 to 1 comparison, Enterprise Manager will perform the comparison immediately and take the user directly to the results without having to wait for a job to be submitted and executed. Flattened system comparisons reduce comparison setup time and reduce complexity. In addition to the previously existing topological comparison, users now have an option to compare using a “flattened” methodology. Flattening means to remove duplicate target instances within the systems and remove the hierarchy of member targets. The result are much easier to spot differences particularly for specific use cases like comparing patch levels between complex systems like RAC and Fusion Apps. Improved Configuration Search & Advanced EMCLI Script option for Mass Automation Enterprise manager 12c introduces a new framework level capability to be able to script and stitch together multiple tasks using EMCLI. This powerful capability can be leveraged for lifecycle operations, especially when executing a task over a large number of targets. Specific usages of this include, retrieving a qualified list of targets using Configuration Search and then using the resultset for automation. Another example would be executing a patching operation and then re-executing on targets where it may have failed. This is complemented by other enhancements, such as a better usability for designing reusable configuration searches. IN EM 12c Rel 3, a simplified UI makes building adhoc searches even easier. Searching for missing patches is a common use of configuration search. This required the use of the advanced options which are now clearly defined and easy to use. Perform “Configuration Search” using the EMCLI. Users can find and execute Configuration Searches from the EMCLI which can be extremely useful for building sophisticated automation scripts. For an example, Run the Search named “Oracle Databases on Exadata” which finds all Database targets running on top of Exadata. Further filter the results by refining by options like name, host, etc.. emcli get_targets -config_search="Databases on Exadata" –target_name="exa%“ Use this in powerful mass automation operations using the new emcli script option. For example, to solve the use case of – Finding all DBs running on Exadata and housing E-Biz and Patch them. Create a Python script with emcli functions and invoke it in the new EMCLI script option shell. Invoke the script in the new EMCLI with script option directly: $<path to emcli>/emcli @myPSU_Patch.py Richer compliance content:  Now over 50 Oracle Provided Compliance Standards including new standards for Pluggable Database, Fusion Applications, Oracle Identity Manager, Oracle VM and Internet Directory. 9 Oracle provided Real Time Monitoring Standards containing over 900 Compliance Rules across 500 Facets. These new Real time Compliance Standards covers both Exadata Compute nodes and Linux servers. The result is increased Oracle software coverage and faster time to compliance monitoring on Exadata. Enhancements to Patch Management: Overhauled "OFFLINE" Patching experience: Simplified Patch uploads UI to improve the offline experience of patching. There is now a single step process to get the patches into software library. Customers often maintain local repositories of patches, sometimes called software depots, where they host the patches downloaded from My Oracle Support. In the past, you had to move these patches to your desktop then upload them to the Enterprise Manager's Software library through the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control user interface. You can now use the following EMCLI command to upload multiple patches directly from a remote location within the data center: $emcli upload_patches -location <Path to Patch directory> -from_host <HOSTNAME> The upload process filters all of the new patches, automatically selects the relevant metadata files from the location, and uploads the patches to software library. Other Improvements:  Patch rollback for single instance databases, new option in the Patch Plan to rollback the patches added to the patch plans. Upon execution, the procedure would rollback the patch and the SQL applied to the single instance Databases. Improved and faster configuration collection of Oracle Home targets can enable more reliable automation at higher level functions like Provisioning, Patching or Database as a Service. My question is: How can I make the Open Graph data available to Facebook? Facebook do not to load my ExtJS JavaScript Library before extracting the Open Graph Object values from the HTML. Is there an easy solution to this problem? The only solutions I found is to make statics web pages or dynamically pages rendered on the server side but I would like to avoid these since my web page implementation is already finished and I would like to avoid re working on it.

Hovewer, I still want to make some parts "configurable" by developpers. • Encrypting your SQL Server Passwords in Powershell

  A couple of months ago, a friend of mine who is now bewitched by the seemingly supernatural abilities of Powershell (+1 for the team) asked me what, initially, appeared to be a trivial question: "Laerte, I do not have the luxury of being able to work with my SQL servers through Windows Authentication, and I need a way to automatically pass my username and password. How would you suggest I do this?" Given that I knew he, like me, was using the SQLPSX modules (an open source project created by Chad Miller; a fantastic library of reusable functions and PowerShell scripts), I merrily replied, "Simply pass the Username and Password in SQLPSX functions". He rather pointed responded: "My friend, I might as well pass: Username-'Me'-password 'NowEverybodyKnowsMyPassword'" As I do have the pleasure of working with Windows Authentication, I had not really thought this situation though yet (and thank goodness I only revealed my temporary ignorance to a friend, and the embarrassment was minimized). After discussing this puzzle with Chad Miller, he showed me some code for saving passwords on SQL Server Tables, which he had demo'd in his Powershell ETL session at Tampa SQL Saturday (and you can download the scripts from here). The solution seemed to be pretty much ready to go, so I showed it to my Authentication-impoverished friend, only to discover that we were only half-way there: "That's almost what I want, but the details need to be stored in my local txt file, together with the names of the servers that I'll actually use the Powershell scripts on. Something like: Server1,UserName,Password Server2,UserName,Password" I thought about it for just a few milliseconds (Ha! Of course I'm not telling you how long it actually took me, I have to do my own marketing, after all) and the solution was finally ready. First , we have to download Library-StringCripto (with many thanks to Steven Hystad), which is composed of two functions: One for encryption and other for decryption, both of which are used to manage the password. If you want to know more about the library, you can see more details in the help functions. The thing is a domain model for a library was probably done 1000 times already with different level of details of course. Here is an example. Is there a popular website or community where one can find ready made domain models for popular systems? The whole purpose I'm trying to achieve is to quickly get a grasp of the domain I'm modeling and customize it to my needs. Re-inventing the wheel seems really absurd when the same system might have been modeled properly previously. Note I know Google might sound like the perfect source, but there is a repository out there that people can post there models, so that others can share them.

• How to debug Infopath2010 using VS2010

  In InfoPath 2010 , you can only use VSTO to write code for your form. However , when you try to debug you will see no attach to process option in the VSTO Project. In order to debug your InfoPath form , you have to do the following steps and debug using Visual Studio 2010. However , if you are not using InfoPath form services with SharePoint2010 and only using InfoPath Filler , you can see how to debug here. 1. You need to go to VSTO Project properties >> Build >> Advanced option >> Set the debug info to Full. (As shown below.) 2.Republish your form,this will rebuild your VSTO Project using the new build configurations. 3. Deploy the infopath form from the central admin and activate your form template to a site collection. If you have already deployed the form before , you need to do some clean up steps :     a.Delete all the infopath forms from the form library where you use your infopath form template as a content type     b.Remove the contentType from this form library     c.Deactivate the contype feature from the site collection features.     d.Delete the infopath form template from the central admin     e.Upload the new form template from from the central admin , you need to uncheck Upgrade the form template if it already exists     f.Activate the form template to the site collection and asscociate the contentType with your form library again. If the Above steps does not work , you need to delete the site collection and create a new one. 4. Open the FormCode.cs file you would like to debug in Visual studio 2010(just the file not the whole project),attach the w3wp.exe processes and set a breakpoint in the FormEvents_Loading event. Now if you add a new form to the form liabrary , the breakpoint should be hit.(See screenshot below) As mentioned above , if it does not hit.You might need to delete the site collection and create a new one.Delete the form template and reupload it again remember to uncheck Upgrade the form template if it already exists .Then you should be able to debug your infopath form.I do not see why debugging in InfoPath2010 is so much harder,but here we go.Happy SharePointing and InfoPathing .

• Use adapter pattern for coupled classes

  I need (for unit testing purposes) to create adapters for external library classes.ExchangeService and ContactsFolder are Microsoft's implementations in its' EWS library. So I created my adapters that implement my interfaces, but it seems that contactsFolder has a dependency for ExchangeService in its' constructor. The problem is that I cannot instantiate ContactsFolderAdapter without somehow accessing the actual ExchangeService instance (I see only ExchangeServiceAdapter in scope). Is there a better pattern for this that retains the adapter classes? Or should I "infect" ExchangeServiceAdapter with some kind of GetActualObject method?

  Do you think it is techniclly possible to write a fully-fledged 3D MMO client with Browser JavaScript - WebGL for graphics, and WebSocket for Networking? Do you think future MMOs (and games generally) will wrriten with WebGL? Does today's JavaScript performance allow this? Let's say your development team was you as a developer, and another model creator (artist). Would you use a library like SceneJS for the game, or write straight WebGL? • Wine: How to open a whole folder, not a single file?

  I am using foobar2000 under my Ubuntu with Wine since… I don't know. Now, with the new Ubuntu 12.10 release foobar2000 was not starting anymore correctly so I reinstalled it (foobar2000 1.1.15, wine 1.4). Naturally I have to set up my foobar2000 configuration from scratch but thats not a problem at all. Everything works fine except adding whole folders to the music library using the Add-button under "File-Preferences-Media Library". Problem is one can only open files with the Add-dialog but not a whole folder. Under Windows everything works fine. Editing the foobar2000 configuration file ([foobar2000-folder]/configuration/Core.cfg) by hand does not work… I also tried it with a hex editor. :( So… what can I do? Thanks. :)

• Video capture Performance

  I have noticed high CPU utilization in a number of applications (except mplayer) which read from the embedded webcam on my laptop. Bizarrely CPU utilization varies proportionately to the level of illumination present. I know that that high CPU usage has nothing to do with rendering the video, as I have written a simple app using the OpenCV library to simply grab frames from the webcam, and cpu usage is still high. I think that mplayer might be using my GPU (and the other apps aren't), but since its not an issue with rendering, I dont think this explains anything. Cheese Low light --- ~12% CPU Bright Light ---- ~63% CPU Camorama Low light --- ~7% CPU Bright Light ---- ~30% CPU Opencv C++ library, (display in a single highgui window) Low light --- ~13% CPU Bright Light ---- ~40% CPU (same test on windows 7, 4-9%) Mplayer No problem, 1-2% regardless of light levels Note: If all I want't to do is capture a feed from my webcam I would use mplayer and forget about it, but I'm developing an application which uses the OpenCV to capture a video feed among other things, performance is important.
