    I read On most operating systems, the addresses in memory starts from highest to lowest. So I am wondering if the heap, stack, and global memory all fall under the same ordering..? If I created... pointerType* pointer = new pointerType //creates memory address 0xffffff And then created a local varible on the stack localObject object would localObjects address be 0xfffffe Or is heap and stack ordering completely different.

  • Can I set svn properties through ankhsvn?

    I am using ankhsvn with VS2008. I am using a free repo hosting on the web. I am not using a svn client for this repo, but managing everything with ankhsvn (including adding solution file and project files to the new repo). I want to add the svn:needs-lock preperty to these files. I wonder if I can do this task using ankhsvn, or if I need to get another svn client for this purpose.

  • Scanning FedEx labels into a visual basic program

    I have a program that has tracking numbers entered into it and it stores them in a database and i would like to add a scanner to the mix. The scanner is acting like a keyboard and scannes just fine, the problem is scanning a FedEx number gives a 32 digit number and i am only iterested in the tracking number portion of it. I saw an example on the web for an excel macro and tried to modify it but it doesnt seem to work. Is there something i could do to just get the 12 digit number? This is what it looks like so far.   • How to setup Expression Blend 3 add-in window at certain position ?

    For example in Sketchflow add-in there is ApplicationFlowPane (derrived from PrototypingPane) which registers itself using IWindowService like this: service.RegisterPalette(this.PaletteRegistryName, this, this.Caption, this.KeyBinding); But i can't see where it is defined that it is docked on bottom pane. Before someone replies that it's at: %AppData%\Microsoft\Expression\Blend3\Workspaces No it's not there because those files do not exists at first run. The question is how can i put my window at certain position with Expression Blend 3 plug-in api ? update 1: It seems that to achive what i want i have to change design.xaml (where workspaces are defined) which is loaded from satellite assembly Microsoft.Expression.Blend.resources.dll (method load in class FrameworkPackage in Microsoft.Expression.Blend.dll). But since this dll is strongly named i can't change it. So now the question is. Is there any other way I can change Design Workspace at runtime ?

    How do I stop VS 2010 (RC) from autocompleting html helpers with new object { ... } when I just want to pass in an anonymous type? Backspacing is driving me crazy. e.g., VS wants: <%=Html.ActionLink("Register", "Register", new object { controller = "Account" }) %> I know the helper is declared expecting object, which is why it does this, but can I change this behavior just for mvc helpers?

  • Generate accessors in Visual C++ 2008

    Hi, I'm trying to generate the accessors and mutators for my variables automatically, but just can't find a way. I tried the right-click/refactor... solution, but the refactor item doesn't appear. I'm not in the mood right now to learn how to write a macro to do this, and I don't have the money to buy a commercial solution (internship student). Any help is welcome, I don't feel like writing all my get/set by hand. note : it's C++ so the {get;set} syntax doesn't work (or does it ?).

    i create my own dialog form with two buttons (ok, cancel) and checked list box. i want to get all selected strings in first form which shown second form. for that purpose i do function GetSelected which return CheckedIndices-GetEnumerator() of my list box. now i want to deselect all strings on pressed cancel button. And deselect all strings on close form by pressing X in corner of form. how to track click the X?

  • I can't get areas working in VS2010

    I just upgraded from VS2010 RC to RTM. Now my areas aren't working. I have a Profile area with a Home controller and an Action method Index(). If I try: http://localhost:4951/profile I get a 404 error saying that the resource can't be found. If I try http://localhost:4951/profile/home I get the same error. However, if I try http://localhost:4951/profile/home/index then the view is returned.   • TFS: Choose which workspace to add a solution too.

    I have a solution which I developed in VS2008 and which I am trying to add to Source Control (TFS 2010, though the issue happened in TFS 2008 as well). I have several TFS workspaces on my computer and I have access to several Team Projects. When I right click the solution in my Solution Explorer and choose the "Add Solution to Source Control" option I am never given an option of choosing which Workspace or which Team Project to add the existing solution too. VS2008 then proceeds to add it to the same team project every time. I have tried selecting an alternate workspace/team project in every window where I can see an option for it but it always adds it back to the same one. I even tried changing the name of my new workspace so that alphabetically it was the first thinking that it might be somehow related to that... no luck. I then tried goign to the Change Source Control window where you can add/remove bindings on a solution/project but that window also defaults to the same Team Project as trying to add the solution directly does... Any help would be greatly appreciated with this, maybe I'm just missing something?

    A co-worker of mine had downloaded a vb example project a while back to see how to make a call or two, he discovered it today again, and noticed that while sitting in the IDE the time/date is updating automatically when the entire project is not even running. How does this work, we looked around for code but can't find anything giving it away. Any ideas?

    I'm trying to show one public twitter profile in one WebView of my app, is not necessary to login twitter, in the MotoDev Simulator this works fine, but in the physical device don't work, this: "403 fobiden limite exceed rate" error appears, this is the simple code line that I'm using: webView.loadUrl("https://mobile.twitter.com/#!/asambleaecuador"); and works fine into de MotoDev simulator AVD ....can somebody helpme please!!!     Are we reduced to ClickOnce to manage our application state for our users? We use Visual Patch currently. When our users update (we reproduced this) we get errors from the updated versions to our compiled versions. Since our developer state is not 'updated' with Visual Patch how can we monitor and eventual squash the various System.MethodNotFound, and System.NullReferenceException in our updated versions of our application?

  • How do I test switching compilers from MSVS 6 to MSVS 2008?

    When switching from MSVS 6 to MSVS 2008, what major differences should I look for when testing the software? I'm coming from more of a QA perspective. We have two programs that work closely together that were originally compiled in Visual C++ 6. Now one of the programs has been compiled in Visual C++ 2008 in order to use a specific CD writing routine. The other program is still compiled under MSVS 6. My manager is very concerned with this change and wants me to run tests specific to this change. Since I deal more with QA and less with development, I really have no idea where to start. I've looked for differences between the two, but nothing has given me a clear direction as far as testing is concerned. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I know how to easily accomplish this in JavaScript with timeouts, but how would I go about doing the same thing in C#? Also, how long should I wait before I assume the user is done typing? 100ms?

    I'm trying to do something which is very easy to do in the regular MSVC, but not supported easily in VC++ Express. There is no resource editor in VC++ Express. So I added a file named version.rc into my DLL project. The file has the below content, which is compiled by the resource compiler and added to the final DLL. This resource is viewable in the DLL using reshacker, though not when right-clicking the DLL in Windows Explorer. What is missing from my RC file to make it appear when right-clicking?
