• OpenCMS - Best approach for showing rotating references

  Hi, I would like to add on the right column of my site a rotating references section. Each reference would have some text + name of person + company name. It does not need to be structured (open text is also ok). I would then want opencms to rotate between 20 difference references each time a page is displayed. I can keep a session scope counter holding which reference we last showed. I need a way to manage the references (users not programmers) over time. My question is which would be the best way to do so? Thanks

  I could not figure out the logic I would need to display a current minute of a soccer match. I have three fields in the database. DateFirstStarted DateSecondStarted DateFullEnded I should enter DateFirstStarted when the game starts and on the website. i.e. game starts at 7:05pm, on 7:25pm it should display '20 on the website. However, it should stop on the 45th minute. Then, I enter DateSecondStarted when the second half starts and should count from 46 to 90 and freeze there. Do I make sense? How can I do it? Is there a better way to do this?

  Hi, is there any possibility how to fetch any specific type of posts from facebook news feed via graph api?For example on my news feed I have statutuses, links, photos, vidoes, and so on..I only want to get the ones with type=status over graph api..I have seen some get parameters in documentation, but nothing like ?type=link..So I have tried /me/home?type=link, but unsurprisingly it have not worked:D So does anyone know how to do that?I can filter it in my PHP app, but then I need to get some further data..When I got 20 posts and only 10 would be statuses, I need to add the 10 remaiming? • Cannot see my wordpress website on google search

  Hi guys I recently uploaded a site made with wordpress. The site url is oakabeachvolley.gr I have set on the privacy settings of wordpress for the site to be visible by search engines. However after almost 45 days the site is invisible on google even when I'm searching using the url name and very specific keywords. Since I have made quite a few sites with wordpress I have never seen this behavior before. Sites will eventually be visible to google engine, sometimes even in the first day. However in this case the site does not show nowhere in the first 20 pages. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Keeping a large volume of data in Session - Suggestions / alternatives?

  I'm developing a web app for which the client wants us to query their data as little as possible. The data will be coming from a Microsoft CRM instance. So we've agreed that data will only be queried as and when it is needed, therefore if a web user wants to see a list of contacts (for example) that list is fetched into a local DataTable. Then if a new contact is created on the website the new contact is sent to CRM and added to the local DataTable at the same time. Likewise for edits. If the user then looks at their contacts again the data will just come from the local DataTable. At the moment local data is being kept in Session but my concern is that too much memory will start being used up. However traffic is expected to be pretty small, perhaps no more than 20 concurrent users so am I worrying about nothing or is there a better way you can suggest to handle this?

• ASP.NET How expensive is it to call an Application Variable many times?

  The short of it is: Is it costly to check an Application Variable such as Application("WebAppName") more 10-20 times each time a page loads? Background: (feel free to critique) Some includes in my site contain many links and images which cannot use relative urls due to their inclusion in different paths. Hence these includes contain frequent instances of <img src="<%=Application("Webroot")%>images\image.gif"> Is it expensive to keep calling an Application variable like this? Should I just put the Application value in some local variable to use where needed? IMPORTANT NOTE: I need my webapp to run fine on a server whether it be in the root web ("/") or in a virtual subweb ("/app"). Thanks in advance for any wisdom shared.

• keyDown works but i get beeps

  I just got my keydown method to work. But i get system beep everytime i press key. i have no idea whats wrong. • Speccing out new features

  I am curious as to how other development teams spec out new features. The team I have just moved up to lead has no real specification process. I have just implemented a proper development process with CI, auto deployment and logging all bugs using Trac and I am now moving on to deal with changes. I have a list of about 20 changes to our product to have done over the next 2 months. Normally I would just spec out each change going into detail of what should be done but I am curious as to how other teams handle this. Any suggestions?

• Are all public read/write members serialized with XmlSerializer?

  I have a handful of public read/write members that are not being serialized and I can't figure out why. Reviewing some code, and my root class is marked serializable: [Serializable] public class MyClass I have a default constructor that initializes 10-15 string members. There are about 50 public read/write string members in MyClass with get and set--no explicit serialization attributes are set on any of these. Serialization looks like this: XmlSerializer x = new XmlSerializer(typeof(MyClass)); TextWriter twWriter = new StreamWriter(sFileName); x.Serialize(twWriter, this); twWriter.Close(); only a handful (20-30) of these members are actually seralized to my xml file. what am i missing or misunderstanding about the XmlSerializer class?

Rather than haul PostGIS around with my app just so I can use GeoDjango's distance filter, I'd like to use the Spherical Law of Cosines distance formula in a model query. I'd like all of the calculations to be done in the database in one query, for efficiency. • Java: Best practices for turning foreign horror-code into clean API...?

  Hello, everyone! I have a project (related to graph algorithms). It is written by someone else. The code is horrible: public fields, no getters/setters huge methods, all public some classes have over 20 fields some classes have over 5 constructors (which are also huge) some of those constructors just left many fields null (so I can't make some fields final, because then every second constructor signals errors) methods and classes rely on each other in both directions I have to rewrite this into a clean and understandable API. Problem is: I myself don't understand anything in this code. Please give me hints on analyzing and understanding such code. I was thinking, perhaps, there are tools which perform static code analysis and give me call graphs and things like this.

  Hi to all, first i would like to say i am Newbie in C++. As part of my master thesis i am writing a program in C++ which also get as parameters the variables m and d (both integers). Were d is the power of 2 (this means 2^d elements). Parameter m define the number of possible interactions between one element and the total group (2^d elements). The number of possible interactions is computed as following: \kappa = \sum_{i=0}^m\binom{d}{i} (at present i generate vector of vectors for 2^d x \kappa, but my Prof. would like me to create different statistics to different m's. My first though was to to generate a dynamic array of m arrays of different sizes... Then i though of defining a 3-dim array with the biggest needed 2d array, but also program speed is important (e.g d = 20). i would like to ask for your advice how to define such kind of dynamic array that will also be fast.   Hello i have a products table that contains normal products and configurable product It has a basic stucture of: id name price configurable ('yes', 'no') id_configuration Normal products have configurable no and 0 as id configuration, and configurable products have it set to yes and have the same id_configuration value. The current query is: SELECT `products`.* FROM `products`, `categories`, `product_categories` WHERE `categories`.`id` = 23 AND `products`.`id` = `product_categories`.`id_product` AND `categories`.`id` = `product_categories`.`id_category` AND `products`.`active` = 'yes' AND ORDER BY `pos_new` ASC, `created` DESC LIMIT 0,20 I was wondering if there is a way to group by id_configuration, but only for the configurable products. The reason is that i want only one of the configuration products to show in search. I was thinking i could do a join, but was wondering if there is a way to do some kind of special group by. For example for configurable yes the field should be id_configuration otherwise it should be the id field Thanks a lot for any sugestions

  Hello, Simple lua game with simple class like so: creature = class({ name = "MONSTER BADDY!", stats = { power = 10, agility = 10, endurance = 10, filters = {} }, other_things = ... }) creatureA = creature.new() creatureB = creature.new() creatureA.name = "Frank" creatureB.name = "Zappa" creatureA.stats.agility = 20 creatureB.stats.power = 12 -- blah blah blah Non table values are individual to each instance, but table values are shared among all instances and if I modify a stats.X value in one instance, all other instances see the same stats table. Q1: Is my OO implementation flawed? I tried LOOP and the same result occured, is there a fundamental flaw in my logic? Q2: How would you have each instance of creature have it's own stats table (and sub tables)? PS. I cannot flatten my class table as it's a bit more complicated than the example and other parts of the code are simplified with this nested table implementation. Thanks a bunch.

In functional programming language,this is easy , I don't know how java do this? Maybe could be done through dynamic proxy, does that have a performance trade off?

  As any programmer in the world at least once in his/her life, I am trying to create my "revolutionary", the new and only one operating system. :D Well, I am using a virtual emulator (Oracle VM Virtual Box), for which I create a new unknwon operating system, with a vmdk disk. I like vmdk because they are just plain files, so I can paste my boot-loader over the first 512 bytes of the virtual hard disk. Now, I am trying to read the next sector of this virtual disk, on which I would paste a simple kernel that would display a message. I have two questions: Am I reading the second segment (the first -512 bytes- is occupied by the bootloader) correctly? CODE: CitesteDisc: mov bx, 0x8000 ; segment mov es, bx mov bx, 0x0000 ; offset mov ah, 0x02 ; read function mov al, 0x01 ; sectors - this might be wrong, trying to read from hd mov ch, 0x00 ; cylinder mov cl, 0x02 ; sector mov dh, 0x00 ; head mov dl, 0x80 ; drive - trying to read from hd int 0x13 ; disk int mov si, ErrorMessage ; - This will display an error message jc ShowMessage jmp [es:bx] ; buffer Here, I get the error message, after checking CF. However, if I use INT 13, 1 to get last status message, AL is 0 - so no error is saved. Am I pasting my simple kernel in the correct place inside the vmdk? What I do is pasting it after the 512th byte of the file, the first 512 bytes, as I said, are the boot-loader.
