  • Detection screen disconnection in linux

    Hey Guys We have a nasty little problem. In short we can detect if a screen is connect when x11 boots (we do this by looking at the log - Xorg.0.log), but we are having trouble detect when are screen is disconnected while the machine is running (ie post x11 boot) Any one have any ideas? Cheers

  • What lightweight solution can you recommend to stream MP3 files?

    Hi there, I need to stream MP3 files to a client running Flash. Streaming is the key here, no progressive downloads allowed. What free server can you recommend? I know Red5 but it seems a bit overkill for our needs (basic MP3 streaming). Anything more lightweight? Our Webserver runs Linux and Apache and we can install stuff there as long as it doesn't bog down the machine. Plus there is Perl and PHP although I don't think this will help for streaming, right? Thank you!

  • Why do custom styled Google Maps (v3) not support marker animation (pin drop)?

    For example, I cannot combine the concepts of this simple example: link text with the concepts of this example: link text, which uses the styled V3 api. In Chrome I get an error saying that: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'DROP' of undefined And it refers to this line of code: animation: google.maps.Animation.DROP, When I replace the javascript link reference to use the version of the API from the first example, the error goes away, but I lose the custom styling.     Im just wondering how i use xmlencoder to serialize ArrayList where foo is my own made class. Do i have to do anything in particular, ie define my own xml structure first and then call toString on each value in my list and write it out?     I'd like to re-open the question from link below, where several packages were suggested besides Ninite.com such as allmyapps.com. Package managers for Windows What I'd like to know is if they are all to be trusted to install in Windows 7 (64bit) so that the manager: Installs the latest version of software. Supports 64 bit installs where possible. Strips ads/toolbars/similar stuff. The later two points from previous questions are good but not a priority in the preparation of a clean install Provides a way to keep the programs updated after installation. If I can add custom installers to the software, that's a big plus. I am more concerned here about using a legitimate application I can trust to establish the basis of clean image of my operating system with all the application of choice installed without fuss and spam/bloatware.

    i tried to split a file in parts of n matches each. The file is just one line and the seperator is '<br>' foo<br>bar<br>.....<br> I just want to split the file in parts, where each file has 100 datasets (text plus <br>)( normaly 100 datasets, but at the end maybe less) I already played around with this ... split-file-in-2-with-sed and this split-one-file-into-multiple-files-based-on-pattern sed.exe -e "^.*.<br>{0,100}/g" < original.txt > first_half.txt The split do not work an the result is only 1 file instead of many.

  • Should I be using Windows Live Mail or Outlook?

    I have been using Windows Live Mail now for a few years, and like the interface, ect ect. Just having a clear out of my domains emails, and think I should set up the other accounts properly. I have Outlook (using 2010 beta), so I thought maybe I should use it? Can anyone give me reasons for and against both bits of software? I did look for some comparisons between the two, but can't find much. Plus I always value up to date information. Bit more background: Using 1 Hotmail and 5 IMAP accounts (possibly more). Use a Windows Mobile. Any way I can sync the calendar and tasks OTA to my hotmail and back down to outlook? I know this is probably more a discussion question (sorry), but I would argue that it can be answered, as it is a question relating to what I myself, in my circumstances would be best.   • Why Windows Media Center (Vista 32-bit) unable to record TV Series?

    I can record individual shows just fine, but trying to setup the recording of a Series throws an error (something like, "unable to schedule, try restarting Media Center", pops up in the bottom right of the screen). Trying to access the "Other Showings" menu causes Media Center to crash ("check for a solution online" dialog comes up). The machine is a fresh reinstall of 32-bit Windows Vista from the HP recovery CDs, plus all Microsoft updates and service packs. Hardware: HP s3220n, AMD X2 5000+, 2GB RAM, 300GB free space on disk. Media Center came bundled. The "Media Center update for Vista" failed to install (it says, not appropriate for my computer). Any ideas? Thanks

Not the scroll height, not the document height, the actual window height. I've tried window.innerHeight which returns undefined and document.documentElement.clientHeight which gives the scroll height.

  • How to avoid strange characters before the request in firefox?

    Hi, on a website i'm currently developing I'm using jquery to do all sort of magic things :-) In firefox however, when I load jquery 1.4.2 there are sometimes funny characters in front of the request. You can see the strangers characters in this screenshot (thank you firebug). In safari, Chrome and IE these funny characters don't appear, jquery is loading fine in those browsers. Why are those characters appearing and how can I remove them? Thanks!!

  • Unknown margin being added to a footer in IE6 + 7

    So yeah, like I said, I've spent a few hours trying to fix this bug in the footer that add's an extra 20-30px on to the bottom of the page in IE6 and 7. I've currently set all bottom margins to 0 so as to find what's causing it, I then scoured ie developer tools but came up empty. If I do combinations from the prime factors, I have to refactor remaining part of the product as I do not know the remaining part not in combination.   • WindowsXP+7 on C:/D: :moving the System Partition

    I had installed Windows 7 on a separate 20gig partition, and I'm absolutely loving it! Plus I can now dual-boot, with my original WinXP residing on the C: drive. But I'm running out of disk space on D:, and I was able to shrink C: and expand D:. But now I would like to make D: not just a Boot Partition, but an Active System Partition, without losing my ability to boot into Windows 7 (since it was created on a separate D: partition, not the current Active System C: Partition). Any advice?

Those green color borders that surround the whole div. The tutorial is given but it is German :(.
