  Hi , My questing is related to population of modified date time field in AX during any posting. Suppose I have a server at singapore and i am working in India,and the current time in singapore is 12 p.m and that in India is 9 a.m. Then while I am posting any purchase order packing slip, it is populating the modified date time field with the time of singapore i.e 12 p.m. But I require the Indian time i.e 9 a.m. to be populated there.   I have a Login Activity which stores credentials in its own SharedPreferences; then I added two getters for reading them, something like public String getUsername() { return getPreferences(MODE_PRIVATE).getString("#username", null); } but this throws a NPE when I call it like this String mUser = (new Login()).getUsername(); It seems that the Activity cannot read its preferences after a simple contructor call, as if it were in some uncompleted state. I read lots of related topics, but wasn't able to find a solution. Basically, I need to share these credentials among activities in my application

  Hi all, I am sahring atip with you all.Please add on to this discussion. JQuery helps faster page load than javascript. JQuery functions are fired when the related elements are loaded, instead of complete pageload. This is a common practice to call a javascript function when page is loaded like window.onload = function(){ alert("Mindfire") } or Inside of which is the code that we want to run right when the page is loaded. Problematically, however, the Javascript code isn't run until all images are finished downloading (this includes banner ads). The reason for using window.onload in the first place is due to the fact that the HTML 'document' isn't finished loading yet, when you first try to run your code. To circumvent both problems, jQuery has a simple statement that checks the document and waits until it's ready to be manipulated, known as the ready event $(document).ready(function() { // Your code here });

• acl9 and devise don't seem to work well together

  I have a user model which is access controlled by ACL9 in userscontroller: ACL9 related stuff before_filter :load_user, :only = [:show] access_control do allow :owner, :of = :user, :to = [:show] end def load_user user = User.find(params[:id]) end in ApplicaitonController I have a rescue_from 'Acl9::AccessDenied', :with = :access_denied def access_denied authenticate_user! # a method from Devise end it is no problem to type in url for sign in page http://localhost:3000/users/sign_in but it is a problem when for example I type in the user page first, which I am to expect to be redirected to sign in page automatically thru the logic above http://localhost:3000/users/1 #= infinite redirect hell. it tries to redirect back to users/1 again(!?) instead of directing to users/sign_in Does anyone have an opinion as to what might be going wrong? • UrlRewriter.Net with URL with final dot

  I want to use UrlRewriter.Net as described in this blog by ScottGu. In the example below, page.aspx should display a page text stored in the database based on the title= URL parameter. After a couple of tweaks the only remaining issue seems to be that a final dot in the URL causes a 404 a sequence of two dots in the URL causes a 400 Windows 7, IIS 7 with Integrated AppPool, VS2008. Looking at the Failed Request Log, it seems that the UrlRewriter module is called after retrieving the request handler. Can these two issues be fixed, or is there a better replacement for UrlRewriter? (A related question only asks about the 404) Edit: This behavior can even be reproduced on SO, so maybe there is no work-around?

  Hey, I need a regular expression to solve the following problem (links to similar problems is also appreciated, related tutorials etc.): __some_words_a_b___ => __some words a b___ ____ => ____ So I want underscores between words to be replaced with space and keep leading and trailing underscores. I found this: ^[ \t]+|[ \t]+$ and I guess it most be something like that. I will use it in jQuery, Java (stdlibs) and maybe XSLT. Addition: The sentences do not necessarily start with underscores or ends with underscores. It is also possible that a sentence ain't containing underscores at all. Best regards Lasse Espeholt

• WPF/.NET data access models - resource recommendations

  We're in the early design/prep phases of transferring/updating a rather large "legacy" 3 tier client-server app to a new version. We’re looking at doing WPF over Winforms as it appears to be the direction Microsoft is pushing development of the future and we’d like the maximize the life cycle/span of the apps. That said during the rewrite we’d like to make as many changes to our data access/presentation model to improve performance as much as possible up front as many. I’ve been doing some research along that vein but the vast majority of the resources I've found that discuss WPF focus only simple data tracking apps or focus on the very basics UI design/controls. The few items that even discuss data presentation are fairly elementary in depth. Are there any books/articles/recommended reading/other resources recommended for development related to large enterprise level business apps? Any “gotchas” that should/could be avoided? General advice to minimize the time underwater

• Error when starting an activity

  I'm starting an activity when a button is pressed, and normally (in other apps) haven't had an issue. But when I press the button in this app, I get an "unable to marshal value" error. Exact(ish) error from LogCat: 03-22 02:49:02.883: WARN/System.err(252): java.lang.RuntimeException: Parcel: unable to marshal value {CLASSNAME}@44dcf1b8 I feel that this might be related to the extra that I'm passing to the intent. I'm passing an ArrayList as a serializable to this new intent. My concern is that the data structure that the ArrayList contains isn't being serialized (as it's a personal data structure). Is the array list content data structure causing this? Something else that I'm missing?

• Use Tomcat with Java SecurityManager?

  I'm writing a web application that is supposed to run on Tomcat on Ubuntu. On Ubuntu, Tomcat is per default configured to run with the Java SecurityManager. Besides my own web application, there will only be some well known third party web applications related to my own, like the BIRT report engine. If one of the web applications fails or gets compromised, it may take down all the others without harm, because they all belong together. What I don't wont to happen is that a compromised web app compromises the system itself, like calling rm -r / Do I need to use the java security manager to achieve this? Or is it only necessary to protect one web app from the other? I'd really like to prevent the effort to create .policy files for all the 3rd party web applications I intend to use.

• Creating SSL on IIS - Remote access problem

  I followed these instructions: http://www.visualwin.com/SelfSSL/ When I type https://localhost/ than it works, but when I try to access it remotely (i set up my router to port forward to localhost), for example https://myip the page does not load. Also, I noticed one other thing. When I access localhost locally then I am asked to enter user/pass, but if I access remotely the I get the following warning: Under Construction The site you were trying to reach does not currently have a default page. It may be in the process of being upgraded and configured. ... I don't know if it is related with this but I hope someone know the answer. Thanks, Ile

  My question consists of multiple points that are inherently related, I apologize for that. I tried splitting it up a little more, but I would keep repeating myself. What exactly is required to apply an open source license to a code base that is my Intellectual Property? A lot of Open Source projects include a full copy of the license somewhere in a root directory but do also have some sort of file header including a license description, disclaimer and a copyright notice. Is that really necessary or does it depend on the license type? If someone else contributes changes to this file, does he need to be named in the copyright notice too?

  If I am able to start up Devel::Cover successfully and it starts to collect data in the cover_db directory, can I then kill the process and then after the fact get Devel::Cover or some other utility to process those binary Devel::Cover run files and structure files into the HTML coverage report? To ask the question another way ... Can I use Devel::Cover to get a coverage report for a process that I am unable to stop, other than by killing the process? • What is the difference between MVC model 1 and model 2?

  I've recently discovered that MVC is supposed to have two different flavors, model one and model two. I'm supposed to give a presentation on MVC1 and I was instructed that "it's not the web based version, that is refered to as MVC2". As the presentations are about design patterns in general, I doubt that this separation is related to Java (I found some info on Sun's site, but it seemed far off) or ASP. I have a pretty good understanding of what MVC is and I've used several (web) frameworks that enforce it, but this terminology is new to me. How is the web-based version different from other MVC (I'm guessing GUI) implementations? Does it have something to do with the stateless nature of HTTP? Thanks, Alex

  I want the ability add properties and tags to a file (specifically ebook files and ebook related properties in Windows 7 but interested to go so for as many OSes as possible) For e.g. Example.txt or Example.doc or Example.epub should all store and carry properties like 'Author', 'Publication date', 'Tags' etc.. the properties should be stored with the file itself. Such that if it is transferred to another system it retains the properties (even if i need to install 'my app' to support this function on the other machine) How do I make this possible using .net (preferred) and what file system concepts should I learn to understand the underlying concepts and limitations to be able to implement this feature? App Type: Windows Phone 7.1 Using: 1) sql-net Version 1.0.5, Source Nuget thru Visual Studio 2) C# Sqlite for WP7 (wp7sqlite) ( Community.CSharpSqlite.WP7) Version 0.1.1, Source Nuget thru Visual Studio. The exact error I receive is below **Error 5 The best overloaded method match for Community.CsharpSqlite.Sqlite3.sqlite3_open(string, ref Community.CsharpSqlite.Sqlite3.sqlite3)' has some invalid arguments C:\Dev\Learning\SQLite.cs Line:2492 Column: 29 ** The next error then hints that it is related to the parameter being passed as "out" type instead of "ref" type. Error 6 Argument 2 must be passed with the 'ref' keyword C:\Dev\Learning\SQLite.cs Line: 2492 Column: 64 I can make the compile errors go away by replacing the "out" keyword with the "ref" keyword, but that is likely to lead to other issues.   I like to use the "UserControl TestContainer" that works great for testing a controls properties during design time. Yet it has limitations. Usually, I just create a Windows Form Application to test the control's run-time interface. It would be nice to combine the two phases. Today, I discovered that the test-container is defined in the project file as show below. What I like to do is create my own test-container and use it for my Windows Forms Control Library projects in Visual Studio 2008. I cannot find any specific documentation, and the documentation I found was related to MSTest and not helpful.   Hi, I'm trying to get my Android app to play a .wav file recording of the word "Spinach Salad" whenever it sees that phrase being spoken by TTS. Here's the relevant code: spinach_salad.wav is located in /res/raw prodName = "Spinach Salad" mTts.addSpeech(prodName, "com.example.textextractor", R.raw.spinach_salad); ...and later in the code: mTts.speak("blah blah blah " + prodName, TextToSpeech.QUEUE_ADD, null); I've also tried: mTts.speak("blah blah blah Spinach Salad", TextToSpeech.QUEUE_ADD, null); and mTts.speak("blah blah blah", TextToSpeech.QUEUE_ADD, null); mTts.speak(productName_str, TextToSpeech.QUEUE_ADD, null); In both cases, I'm just hearing the TTS synthesized audio, rather than my custom .wav file. (On a related note, the last chunk of code sometimes speaks out of order, saying the second line before the first).

• Import text file crunching library for Java/Groovy ?

  In a lot of real life implementations of applications we face the requirement to import some kind of (text) files. Usually we would implement some (hardcoded?) logic to validate the file (eg. proper header, proper number of delimiters, proper date/time value,etc.). Eventually also need to check for the existence of related data in a table (eg. value of field 1 in text file must have an entry in some basic data table). While XML solves this (to some extend) with XSD and DTD, we end up hacking this again and again for proprietary text file formats. Is there any library or framework that allows the creation of templates similar to the xsd approach ? This would make it way more flexible to react on file format changes or implement new formats. • Visual Studio Debugger Voodoo

  Ok, maybe this isn't so amazing considering I don't really understand how the debugger works in the first place, let alone Edit and Continue, which is totally amazing. But I was wondering if anyone knew what the debugger is doing with variable declarations in this scenario. I can be debugging through my code, move the line of execution ahead - past a variables initial declaration and assignment, and the code still runs ok. If it's a value type it will have it's default value, for a ref type, null. So if I create a function that uses a variable before it's declared it won't compile, but if I use the debugger to run it that way it will still run without error. Why is this? And is this related to the fact that you can't put a breakpoint on a declaration?

• Issues with the [embed] tag and fonts

  Hi, I have some issue with the [embed] tag. Even if I set the embedFonts property of the textfield to true the text doesn't show up. The thing is that it worked previously and after some changes (not related to fonts) it doesn't. I'd like to understand how the embed process for font works to find the error in my code. I declare : [Embed(source = 'asset/font.ttf', fontName="font", mimeType="application/x-font-truetype")] private static var font:String; to assign the font to the program. Then i call "font" when declaring my textFormat. Is the "fontName" property the link with the textformat ? I work with flashdevelop and the flex_sdk_4.0.0.14159 (the big adobe one, with air (~140mo)) Thx ! -Leg
