• Cocoa: how to implement a custom NSView with an editable text area?

  What's the minimum implementation needed to make a custom NSView with an editable text area? I assume NSTextFieldCell can be used for this. I've succeeded in drawing the cell in the view (which is straightforward), but making it editable seems to require a more complicated coordination between the view and the cell. Is there sample code available somewhere? Update. I should have made clear that my longer-term goal is to have many more editable text areas on the same view. AFAIU it is better to use cells in that case as they are more light-weight than full-blown views. My updated question is: What's the minimum implementation needed to make a custom NSView with an editable text area using an appropriate NSCell?

• FF extension: displaying an array of string elements in a sidebar

  I am developing a ff extension which displays a list of elements from an array (dynamic) in the sidebar. The array is dynamic and needs to be constructed in a function everytime the sidebar is opened (or any other event handler). Later, i will need to implement link functionality on parts of the string. What is the best way to go about this? I have created an empty sidebar and just know the label element as of now. menu, and menuitem dont work. What other elements can i use to display text in a good way which supports dynamic contruction. Is there some good tutorial/sample extension which i can see and learn?

  I've a problem that number of Handles in my app is continuously growing. I did the debugging and recognize that this is caused by System.Threading.Thread class which is used for some routine. Each time I’m clicking the button, a thread is created using System.Threading.Thread class. The problem is that looks like the thread do not frees Handles because each click cause number of Handles growing by ~5. Now I'm dealing with menus and submenus What I'm trying to do is, if the user picks "About Us" from the main menu, under the about us page I want to display a submenu with the options "who we are, what we do, contact us" If the user picks "Our Products" from the main menu, then under the products page I want to display a submenu with the options "product 1, product 2, product 3" Is this possible with only one master page? I read something about menu control but not sure that is what I need. So far I found how to display a sitemap, but not specific sections of a sitemap, if this is the way to do things.   Does anyone have a macro that copy data from one sheet to another based on the current date? I am working with a single workbook of three sheets. Sheet one will hold the manual input of daily production figures for multiple plants, sheet two is to hold ongoing daily data, keyed on sheet one. The macro will be associated with a button, so that once clicked it would search for every row that has a date of today, and copy that row to the next available blank row on sheet two. Sample Data...   I have been using rails for developing web applications and now i need to do design an api for iphone application and since i used respond to json it also produces json but i use devise for authentication in my web application and when i send email and password along with the api it gives out {"user":{"authentication_token":"Lsusyd27ewgasga63","email":"[email protected]"}} and there is forgot password functionality in the iphone app but in the web application when clicking on forgot password button it sends an email to the users email, whereby the user has to go to his mail and click on the link sent and it will take to the change password path and after changing it the user will be login but in this iphone app i want to send the password to the user mail and the user can use that password and login. How can i do this? Also do i have to create new controllers for api or the web application controller is enough if it respond as json? please help me.

• Pass Value between MDI Child in WinForm using C#

  I have an MDI Parent, containing a MenuStrip. When I click on one of the Menu, two Child Forms are displayed simultaneoulsy. I have a TextBox and a Send Button on one of my ChildForm. When I type-in something in that TextBox and Click the Send Button, I need to show that value in the TextBox of my Second Child Form. What I had done is, I wrote a Public Function in the Second Child Form and tried to invoke it by creating an object of Second Form, on the Send Button click event. When I put break points, in that Public Function, I find that the control is flowing through that Public function on cliking the Send button. But the passed value is not displayed. And, I know that is not the standard way to do that. Any sample script for help? Thanks.

  I'm attempting to use 'jQuery Validate' on a form that requires an email address plus either all items of a shipping address completed or none at all. Using the sample provided by the solution to this question: jQuery Validate - “Either skip these fields, or fill at least X of them”, I have been able to successfully solve the validation of the address group. The problem, however, is that the logic for validating the email address field does not work. From debugging the Validate scripts, the "re-entrant" validation code triggered by calling 'fields.data('being_validated', true).valid();' in the linked example results in a reset of all previously validated errors (i.e. the email validation error is cleared). I have modified some existing samples, the first in which removes the offending line and the second with it included.   I am populating my Rails database using populator, and I have a case where I would like to build a series of records where fields start_date and end_date follow seamlessly from each other (from today back into the past). Here is a sample of what I'm doing: Chain.populate 1 do |ch| ch.date_end = DateTime.now ch.date_start = DateTime.civil(DateTime.now.year-rand(40)-1, rand(12)+1, rand(31)+1) end Chain.populate 0..10 do |chs| chs.date_end = Chain.find(:last).date_start chs.date_start = DateTime.civil(chs.date_end.year-rand(10)-1, rand(12)+1, rand(31)+1) end Problem? undefined method 'date_start' for nil:NilClass. I assume the problem is the first Chain record hasn't been saved, so I added: Chain.save # in between the two loops This didn't work either. How can I make this work? Thank you!

  The Java tutorials that I read, like to use nested classes to demonstrate a concept, a feature or use. This led me to initially implement a sample project I created just like that: Lots of nested classes in the main activity class. It works, but now I got a monstrous monolithic .java file. I find it somewhat inconvenient and I now intend to break to multiple .java files/classes. It occurred to me, however, that sometimes there may be reasons not to take classes out of their enclosing class. If so, what are good reasons to keep a module large, considering modularity and ease of maintenance?

• How do I get output into Java from a SELECT stored procedure in Oracle?

  I'm using Java to connect to an Oracle 10 Database. I want to create a stored procedure (don't ask why) that takes no arguments and returns a lot of rows. Specifically, in Java I want to be able to get this data with something like: ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("call getChildless"); where getChildless is the query: SELECT objectid FROM Object WHERE objectid NOT IN (SELECT parent FROM subparts); However, I just cannot for the life of me figure out how to get my output from the stored procedure. I've googled it and I get all this sample code that Oracle won't compile, presumably it's for a previous version. Refcursors seem to come up a lot, but I'm not sure if that's what I actually want, to use it with a ResultSet.

• Using netlink to obtain arp entries only returns stale entries

  I'm currently trying to retrieve reachable neighbors from the arp table in a user space program written in c. I've looked through the source code to the "ip neigh" command (ipneigh.c) and it appears that I should use the flag NUD_REACHABLE. struct { struct nlmsghdr n; struct ndmsg r; } req; memset(&req, 0, sizeof(req)); req.n.nlmsg_len = NLMSG_LENGTH(sizeof(struct ndmsg)); req.n.nlmsg_flags = NLM_F_REQUEST | NLM_F_ROOT; req.n.nlmsg_type = RTM_GETNEIGH; req.r.ndm_state = NUD_REACHABLE; However, when I look at the data returned from the kernel, I only have stale entries. In fact, no matter what I put for req.r.ndm_state it seems to return only entries marked as stale by ip neigh. • Cannot play a recorded sound on device.

  I'm using the exact code from the iPhone Application Programming Guide Multimedia Support to use AVAudioRecorder to record a file to the disk and then AVAudioPlayer to load and play that file. This is working fine in the simulator but is not working on the device. The file gets loaded (we can see the NSTimeInterval) but does not play (play returns false). After it didn't work with the sample code from the website, we tried changing to a bunch of different codecs with no success. And of course, the sound is on. Thanks a bunch.

  Hello I just got started looking at Lua as an easy way to access the SQLite DLL, but I ran into an error while trying to use the DB-agnostic LuaSQL module: require "luasql.sqlite" module "luasql.sqlite" print("Content-type: Text/html\n") print("Hello!") Note that I'm trying to start from the most basic setup, so only have the following files in the work directory, and sqlite.dll is actually the renamed sqlite3.dll from the LuaForge site: Directory of C:\Temp <DIR> luasql lua5.1.exe lua5.1.dll hello.lua Directory of C:\Temp\luasql sqlite.dll Am I missing some binaries that would explain the error? Thank you. Edit: I renamed the DLL to its original sqlite3.dll and updated the source to reflect this (originally renamed it because that's how it was called in a sample I found). • iPhone CGContext: drawing two lines with two different colors

  I am having some troubles using the CGContext with an iPhone app. I am trying to draw several lines with different colors, but all the lines always end up having to color, which was used last. I tried several approaches I could think of, but haven't been lucky. I set up a small sample project to deal with that issue. This is my code, I use in the drawRect method. • Compression Array of Bytes

  Hi, My problem is: I want to store a array of bytes in compressed file, and then I want to read it with a good performance. So I create a array of bytes then pass to a ZLIB algorithm then store it in the file. For my surprise the algorithm doesn't work well., probably because the array is a random sample. Using this approach, it will will be ber easy to read. Just copy the stream to memory, decompress them and copy it to a array of bytes. But i need to compress the file. Do I have to use a algorithm, like RLE, for compresse the byte array? I think that I can store the byte array like a string and then compress it. But i think I am going to have a poor performance on reading data. Sorry for my poor english. Thanks
