  • Weird Excel bar diagram behaviour

    I have a very simple question. I want to have a diagram with the following table: Apple 30 40 50 Pears 200 300 400 Bananas 10 20 30 The weird thing is, when I try to draw a bar diagram the order of the bars changes. So Excel first draws the bananas, then the pears, and finally the apple bar... Is there anyway to tell Excel 2003 to keep the original order? Thank you very much

  • VERY large text files and Snow Leopard

    Sometimes I need to work on EXTREMELY large text files. 200-300 megs or more. My favorite text editor on my MacBook Pro is TextMate. However, TM chokes on very large text files. Even ones around the 100MB mark. Is there a text editor that can handle such files for Snow Leopard? Thanks!

  • mint linux, DVD drive keeps randomly being accessed. unsure how to find culprit

    I have a workstation with mint linux 12. It seems like the DVD drive on the machine keeps randomly "activating". By activating it makes noise, the light turns on, and it seems like it is checking if a disk is in it. At first I thought I was being hacked and someone/something was trying to check if I had media in the DVDRom drive. I ruled that out with netstat and rkhunter.     I have recently discovered Digital Ocean and I have found it to be a relatively nice experience for small staging servers, and the thought occurred to me, why am I paying $267~ for a server on Rackspace (40GB RAM, 160 GB Drive, 2 vCPUs, 400 Mb/s) when Digital Ocean offers a server for $40 (40 GB RAM, 60GB Drive [storage is not a concern of mine], 2 vCPUs, ?Mb/s)? Does Rackspace offer some kind of obvious advantages in Transfer speed/bandwidth? My applications are small startups that for the immediate future will only have about 200-300 concurrent users at once.

    We have ~300 celeryd processes running under Ubuntu 10.4 64-bit , in idle every process takes ~19mb RES, ~174mb VIRT, thus - it's around 6GB of RAM in idle for all processes. In active state - process takes up to 100mb of RES and ~300mb VIRT Every process uses minidom(xml files are < 500kb, simple structure) and urllib. Quetions is - how can we decrease RAM consuption - at least for idle workers, probably some celery or python options may help? How to determine which part takes most of memory?

    I have a set of 300 or so .ai files in which I will need to open each, separate one main layer into two (probably have to create an extra layer manually, and move needed stuff into that layer manually). Then I want to export those two layers to PNG. I would like to keep the layers' name in the output filenames. Any suggestion here? I've tried the following: 1) Removing CA-certificate-checking (works) 2) Adding required CA-certificate for the whole site (works) 3) Adding "SSLVerifyClient optional" does not work 4) ++ Server/Application Information Local: -OpenSSL v.1.0.1x -Apache 2.4.3 -Ubuntu -mpm: event -every configuration should be turned on (failing) server: -OpenSSL 0.9.8e -Apache 2.4.2 -SunOS -mpm: worker -every configuration should be turned on Please let me know if more information is needed, I'll provide it instantly. Brief sum-up: -Running apache 2.4 -Server certificates works just fine -Client certificates for some /Locations does not work, fails with errors PS: Could it be related with the OpenSSL version and the "Renegotiation" stuff related to TLS/SSLv3?

    On a old machine (512 MB RAM) I am currently running ubuntu jaunty and firefox 3.0.15. I tried the ad blocker addon add block plus but it eats lots of RAM (300 MB). Is high memory load of this add-on a bug, which is fixed in a newer version or just normal? If so, why is the memory usage so high? Is there another ad blocker add-on for firefox or another browser- add-on combination for linux (ubuntu jaunty) which uses significant less RAM?

    After my old computer died I wanted to download my music collection from Google Music - which is very easy with Googles Music Manager. After a few hours it had downloaded my library, but also showed around 300 download errors. Downloading the library another time, however, made different files fail (Which tells me that the error isn't connected to the files as such). I'm going to collect the obvious ones (system, security, event, firewall, and role specific logs) but are there any others I should be worried about? I'm using Splunk if that helps answer the question.
