  • Ubuntu lag when minimizing window

    Ubuntu(or maybe just Unity) lags whenever I minimize a window when there's no other opened window(others are minimized). I faced this problem after I install Ubuntu Tweak 0.7, Conky, OpenJDK 7, IcedTea 7 (if it does matter) There's no problem to: show and hide windows spread window open and close window I have set window minimize animation as Fade 220ms and Animation Time Step as 1 in CCSM but I honestly don't think this is the problem because when there's other opened window, everything is smooth.   • Checking media [Fail] on boot

    Lately I've been getting this black screen at boot time with 2 lines saying Checking media [Fail] And the time of booting has extended greatly due to that thing (like from seconds to a minute) I have a Dell XPS15 with SSD and I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 and it was not like this before. I don't have a clue what is it connected with - maybe it's due to a kernel update or something. And what do those 2 lines mean.

  • Vostro 3560 Wireless on Ubuntu 12.10

    I have been using Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS on a Dell Vostro 3560 for some time now. At first I had issues with the wireless but I was pointed to a driver from Ubuntu 11.xx for a Broadcom BCM43142 and that did work! however with the upgrade to 12.10 I find myself at a lost because the driver will not work anymore. When trying to reinstall it I get "Driver of bad quality" I still install it but it just wont work. I cant seem to find anything on this issue for 12.10 and didn't know if anyone had any advice or if someone could point me in the right direction on resources to write my own driver for it. As I know C/C++ but have never written a driver for a Linux machine before. Thanks for any help! To be more clear I installed Ubuntu 12.10 Desktop on my Dell Vostro 3560 laptop. When I log in, my wireless card isn't visible in the Network Manager popup menu, although the wired network shows up there.   • Webcam doesn't work in browser...?

    I'm running the latest version of Ubuntu, and I have a Dell Sp2009wfd monitor with built in microphone and webcam. I've gotten the microphone working on mumble and on sound recorder, and I've gotten the webcam to work on Cheese...but it WON'T work through the flash player//website webcam things. I -have- the flash plugin, and I have drivers installed for my video card. Could anyone help me figure this out? It's really frustrating. Thank you...!

But in 12.04 there is no additional drivers to install. I tried using: sudo m-a a-i broadcom-sta But building fails on 26%.     Hi all, I have a rather large database that has alot of decimal columns in alot of tables, the customer has now changed their mind and wants all the numbers (decimals) to have a precision of 3 d.p. instead of the original two. Is there any quick way of going through all the tables in a database and changing any decimal column in that table to have 3.d.p instead of 2 d.p? The db is on sql 2005. Any help would be great.

  • Dell Dimension 8400 Startup error

    Hello all, thanks first for taking the time to read this and possibly help me...... now I am pretty decent of a computer tech...but not enough. I am having an issue with my computer which is running windows xp and as I mentioned it is a dell Dimension 8400. as soon as I power the system up the fan goes into hyper drive (spins like crazy and is very loud) then the start up screen with dell comes up and the loading bar gets stuck on the process of "Bios Revision A00" and never loads beyound that. I have read alot about it and think that the main problem was that it can not locate the file (which does have an updated version) I think it is A09. I can not enter safe mode, Bios mode or anything. I do have the file on my other computer and I was wondering if there is a way that I can use a usb flash drive (as I have read on other sites) to create a bootable MS-Dos diskette but I am failing at creating as such....is this possible? or is there anything else I can do? I tried to remove the battery from the system for about 10 minutes while it was completely unplug and tried then to reboot it and go into the bios menu but the same thing keeps happening....can anyone help me :-(

But will doctrine add the milliseconds? I think it just assigns NOW() to the field. I am also worried the date manipulation functions (in SQL) sprinkled through the code will break. I also saw something about compiling a UDF extension. This is not an acceptable workaround because I or a future maintainer will upgrade and poof, change gone. Has anyone found a suitable workaround?

  • best way to output a full precision double into a text file

    Hi, I need to use an existing text file to store some very precise values. When read back in, the numbers essentially need to be exactly equivalent to the ones that were originally written. Now, a normal person would use a binary file... for a number of reasons, that's not possible in this case. So... do any of you have a good way of encoding a double as a string of characters (aside from increasing the precision). My first thought was to cast the double to a char[] and write out the chars. I don't think that's going to work because some of the characters are not visible, produce sounds, and even terminate strings ('\0'... I'm talkin to you!) Thoughts?
