• Wired network on computer to wifi

  I just got myself a wifi capable cell phone, but I dont have a wireless internet at home. I do have a wired unlimited internet connection on my computer, and I wonder whether there is any gadget that I can plug into my computer (maybe at the usb port?) with which I can turn my computer into a wifi access point? I mean, a dongle or something which will enable me to connect my phone to my computer's internet through wi-fi? Also, I dont know anything about networking, so would it be hard for me to set up a secure wifi point? Thank you for reading this question through. Hope I can buy some sort of adapter which is comparitively cheap.

  Hello I was hoping some one could help me my drive has 92gbs used space, 95gbs free out of 220 partition 33gbs in the air i cant find, already did cleanup, emptied recycle bin, history and temp files also and I believe sin Ive seen before its possibly space my brother used with a program he uses to hide (possibly encrypted) files dont know the name just seen him do it on usb and pc dont appear visible or hidden and result is what you read above is there any way of finding them to delete them hence my brother is nowhere to b found or could it be something else??? already tried freecommander also.

• php script dies when it calls a bash script, maybe a problem of server configuration

  Hi!!! I have some problems with a PHP script that calls a Bash script.... in the PHP script is uploaded a XML file, then the PHP script calls a Bash script that cut the file in portions (for example, is uploaded a XML file of 30,000 lines, so the Bash script cut the file in portions of 10,000 lines, so it will be 3 files of 10,000 each one) The file is uploaded, the Bash script cut the lines, but when the Bash script returns to the PHP script, the PHP script dies, & I dont know why... I tested the script in another server and it works fine... I dont believe that is a memory problem, maybe it is a processor problem, I dont know, I dont know what to do, what can I do??? (Im using the function shell_exec in PHP to call the Bash script) The error only happens if the XML file has more than 8,000 lines, but if the file has less then 8,000 everything is ok (this is relative, it depends of the amount of data, of strings, of letters that contains each line) what can you suggest me???   Is there a way in Excel to split a large file into a series of smaller ones, based on the contents of a single column? eg: I have a file of sales data for all sales reps. I need to send them a file to make corrections and send back, but I dont want to send each of them the whole file (because I dont want them changing eachother's data).   i have a laptop with 16'' wide screen, but the screen is broken and i want to buy only the screen and replace it.. my laptop is: HP Pavilion dv6-1050us what i know about the screen is that it's model number 512357-001 "16inch widescreen BrightView BV display panel IMR, with web camera and microphone". I did find some screen which seems to be the one but i'm not sure and dont want to spend money for the wrong screen, can any one help please? I search on e-bay for a compatible screen and left with a few questions..   I want to use the Interval Role in Darwin streaming server,more specifically i want to call the QTSS_SetIntervalRoleTimer() when the server starts streaming a video file.But i have problem in doing this as from what it seems,the method returns QTSS_Err when i do that. I believe that the problem is due to the fact that the callback is made in a a module-created thread. Is there a specific place where this callback must be done?(if i put the callback in the register role of my module it works,but i dont want this,because i dont want the timer starting when the server starts).Any help will be useful,thank u in advance.

By investigating it thru http://www.just-ping.com/ it seems, that from many places the ping is very high, and during quick investigation I found that they use GeoIP to resolve addresses based on WHOIS, which is not accurate and because of that from many places the ping is above 300ms (for example, if ISP is in balgladore and request is routed to bangladore even if it's 300ms, for period of 1 month), while by just using Amazon Web Services and Route 53 Anycast DNS servers and only 4 EC2 instances it seems that for example India is always below 100ms, while using Akamai it goes above 300ms in some cases, and this is because Route 53 is using BGP. By quickly checking the Akamai, it seems that they are not getting feedback from the traffic - the high ping stays constant even if I keep downloading large files and videos, which is opposite to what they say on their website. They state, that they optimize the performance by taking feedback from the requests, while it seems they just use GeoIP with per City resolution (which are mostly big cities). Because of this, AWS with Route 53 / Anycast DNS seems to be much more reliable, as well EdgeCast which is using BGP, but I dont know how much does it cost to deploy static website. Actually, I dont know if EdgeCast is not a lie, because from isolated places there are many errors - so their performance is at the cost of quality of delivery, because of BGP switching the routes during transfer of large files. So I was wondering, what is really Akamai good for, because they dont seem to pose any strength in any field in what I do understand now, except they offer some software based WAF on their website, but what I really care about is the core distribiution, so the question is? Is really Akamai good for Videos? For static websites? ??? I found so far AWS most usable with most consistent ping and stable transfers.

  I have a FreeNAS server with 3 x 2 To disks in raidz1. I would expect to have about 4 To of space available. • Google Apps For Business, SSO, AD FS 2.0 and AD

  We are a small company with 22 people in the office. We had a lot of problems with e-mail in the past so I decided to change over to Google Apps for Business. It is the perfect solution for us, except for one thing: I need to be able to control the access to the mailboxes. Only users inside the office, authenticated to AD, or users authenticated to our VPN can connect to gmail. From what I've read it is possible using the SSO (Single Sign On) solution provided by Google - but i am having some trouble finding consistent information about it. First of all, our infrastructure: Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory, one domain only. Kerio Control for QoS and VPN. That's about it on our side. On Google Apps' side, I have one account, and 03 domains that my users use to log in. The main domain has most of the users, but the are a couple of people that login using one of the subdomains. I have a 03 domains because I run mail for 03 companies and wanted all to be in within the same control panel. Well, I found some guides on the internet but none of them cover the AD FS installation part. I've read somewhere that I needed to download AD FS 2.0 directly from Microsoft.com, because the one that came with Windows Server was a old version. I downloaded it (adfsSetup.exe) and tried to install but got an error, saying that I needed a Windows Server 2008 Sp2 for that program. My Windows Server 2008 is R2. I really need some help here, this is very importand, I dont want to have to pay $1000 for a SSO solution when i have an AD set up. Can someone please point me out to the right direction? Where can I find an AD FS 2.0 setup compatible with R2 would be a good start, or the one that came with r2 is already the 2.0 version. After the initial setup, there are some guides on the internet about the Google Apps part. It seems to be really easy. I also tried adding AD FS role, but there are a bunch of options wich I have no idea what means, and I coudn't find any guide covering that on the internet. I dont have a lot of experience with Windows Server, but I have a company wich is certificated and provide us with support. I can ask for their help in the later setup, but I dont think ADFS is a very common thing to deal with.

• breaking mdadm raid and moving to NTFS

  I'm running Ubuntu 8 something and my data is on a mirrored pair of 1TB disks formatted as ext3, and the RAID is via mdadm. I want to move to Windows 7 (yeah yeah I know but Linux aint doing it for me at the moment) and migrate the disks to NTFS. My plan is: Break the MDADM RAID (by failing one disk logically) Format the 'failed' disk as NTFS Copy data from the RAID array to the NTFS disk (dont care about perms) Install Windows, (new separate non RAid disk) and my data disk is available. I've researched this and it seems the easiest way. I dont have another disk to back up to so I think this is my only way. Can anyone see a better/easier way?

For example, for the following programs: Tomcat Nginx Supervisor PostgreSQL This seems to be recommended based on my reading online. However, I want to restrict these user accounts as much as possible, so that they dont have a shell login, dont have access to the other programs and are as limited as possible but still functional. Would anyone mind telling me how this could be achieved? • Windows 8.1 touchpad three-finger-multitouch gesture gone

  Couple of days ago, i installed the Windows 8.1 Pro WMC and all of a sudden the touchpad gesture, which worked like a charm back in Win 8.1 preview, Win 8 and even Win 7, just stopped working. I am talking about the "Three Finger Flick" feature, which is used to go back and forward in folders and/or internet browsers at first i didnt even have the left edge pull feature, but then i added some values in this key into regedit, and now i have it [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh\ZoneConfig\TouchPadPS2\Left Edge Pull] I Googled that, i didnt know what to do by myself and i dont know where to write and what to write anything in order to get the three finger flick back too I installed various versions of drivers starting from about version 15 to the version 17.0.8.0 (the one that i currently have), and even though i have all the other gestures, taps and swipes working they are not in the device settings, there is no multitouch gestures in device settings so thats why i guess i have to write something in regedit, but again, i dont know what to write, and where to write. please help me if you can

• postfix, webmin installed. whats next?

  Im trying to get imap running and dont know the problem. i a developer, not a network guy.( our network guy left) we had postfix installed already for outgoing mail on 8 domains. we only had incoming on 1 domain. but that mail server is located on a different ip. now we want incoming on another domain, but we dont want it on another ip, we want it on the same ip as the website itself. I installed dovecot today because my hosting company said i needed it. it seems to run fine. do i need dovecot AND postfix? or are they the same thing? dovecot does not show up anywhere in webmin what i cant seem to figure out how to do is add a user email so i can try to telnet in on port 143. i think i have evrything installed, just need the next step.... sorry for the newb question

  I've bought a wireless router which I'm installing with a Telstra BigPond cable modem for a friend. As part of the setup I've got to a screen requesting username / password / authentication server for the cable modem They have contacted Telstra who supply the username / password and say that is all they need. They dont know anything about an authentication server.   I have somehow managed to purchase a VPS after collecting money for sometime, now problem is i cant find a way to backup the server. My previous approach was: Got a webdav account from mydisk.se, mounted it on the vps, used duplicity and created encrypted backups. Problem is it was only 2G, and its running out of space, at my own place i dont have a stable internet connection else i have a 500G drive that i could surely use for backups. The vps has a 12G HD, and i would like to backup /home, /root, /etc, /var/ (specially log and www). Any ideas are welcomed. [EDIT] I am more of looking for resource of setting up a backup-point or such(i know how to setup a backup server, but i cant as i dont have stable connection or the money to buy another VPS/disk for backup) , i have already got the tools needed.

  I've bought a wireless router which I'm installing with a Telstra BigPond cable modem for a friend. As part of the setup I've got to a screen requesting username / password / authentication server for the cable modem They have contacted Telstra who supply the username / password and say that is all they need. They dont know anything about an authentication server. There are a couple of answers up on Whirlpool forum found through google but those answers are 4 years old. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/475258.html http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/479615.html I havent tried them yet as I hoped to get actual answers before trundling over to my friends house again. Can anyone suggest, How to get information from Telstra support? (I realise this question maybe impossible to answer) What is the authentication server for Telstra BigPond for a user in Sydney Australia Are those whirlpool forum answers still valid? I guess if I dont get anything more here I'll try what it says on whirlpool and see what happens.

• safari 5 doesnt work on my computer.

  I just got the new version of safari y downloaded because my mac tell me there was new version that I should be getting. but when I try to run my this new version of the aplication .nothing happends¡ I mean the program seems to be working but nothing apears in the screen and so when I try to see my top sites a little window show up but it just dont show anything. then 3 seconds later the program shut down¡ I dont know why is happening this Im not so a expert in computers but this really is away of all I see on safari and on mac I got Mac OS X version 10.5.8 2.66ghz intel core 2 duo 4gb 1067 MHz DDR3

  The situation: I have a server, on which we have 2-3 projects. Starting not long ago, the server started hanging up (We could not connect to it by ssh, and the connected clients had to wait 20 minutes for top to give results) Early today I managed to execute gstat while it was in this state and saw, that it stays on 100% on da0, da0s1 and da0s1f. I dont quite know what those ids meen, but I understand that some processes just kill the HD by bombing it down with requests. I ask of some propositions. I dont know how to find the culpit and can't prevent this. I have freebsd on server.

• Sharepoint Document Library not receiving emails

  I have created a sharepoint document library which is email enabled. However when i send email to the designated email address from anywhere, i dont receive the email & attachment in the list. I have done some R&D and i hv found that in order to receive email from anywhere i have to expose my DNS of the sharepoint site to the outside world. Now i dont know whether it applies to the email address designated to me in the Active directory profile as well (my company domain email address). How to test that this email reception is working in the document library? I have tried sending an email from the sharepoint site and it works fine so the SMTP settings are correctly done.
