• Android SDK Setup Problems

  Hi, Im new to android and am just trying to install the SDK. I have everything else done. When i run the SDK Setup.exe (ive added the ./tools to the path already.) It gives me the famous cannot fetch URL error. Failed to fetch URL https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml, reason: Permission denied: connect I tried the force http option and also manually adding a http:// version of the above url. It does not work at all. I am working on a windows 7 64 bit pc. Any help would be appreciated. Ramesh

  Whats the difference between Process and ProcessStartInfo? Ive used both to launch external programs but there has to be a reason there are two ways to do it. Here are two examples. • How to make a structure map powered viewengine in asp.net mvc

  My views extend a base view class ive made: public class BaseView : ViewPage At the moment im calling ObjectFactory.GetInstance inside this class' constructor to get some interface implementations but id like to use structuremap to inject them as constructor arguments. Im using a structuremapcontrollerfactory to create my controllers, but how can i do the same for views? I know i can implement a custom ViewEngine, but using reflector to look at the mvc default viewengine and its dependencies, it seems to go on and on and i'd rather not have to re-implement stuff thats already there. Has anyone got a cunning idea how to solve this? I know i could make things easier with setter instead of constructor injection but id rather avoid that if possible.

• Whats up with cross site Scripting (getJSON) and flickr example

  In past i had read the documentation about getJSON and there is an example with a flickr photo api. (the example with the [pussy]cats :-)). No I ask myself why is it possible, to access flickr directly with this example. Ive tried this by store this code on my local machine - it works but if I use a local copy of jquery i just get an error in firebug like this $ is not defined myurl/test.html Line 11 Does anybody of you have a solution for this paradox thing? • MultiCast Messages to multiple clients on the same machine

  Im trying to write a server/service that broadcasts a message on the lan ever second or so, Kind of like a service discovery. The message needs to be received by multiple client programs that could be on the same machine or different machines. But there could be more than one program on each machine running at the same time. Im using delphi7, with indy 9.0.18 where im stuck is if i should be using UDP or IP MultiCast or if its even possible... Ive managed to get it to work with IP Multi Cast with one client per machine, but even after many trys with different bindings.. max/min ports etc, i cant seem to find a solution.

Ive been reading a log about tests, unit tests, tests frameworks, mocks and so on, but as a junior programmer I dont know anything about tests, not even where to start! Can anyone explain to young programmers about tests, how they`re run, where and what to test, what is unit testing, integration testing, automated tests? How much to test? • Opening Another Xib form an Xib

  Not a Noob as yesterday, but still green. I have been playing around with the code that Elisabeth Robson has put together HERE. I have a UITabbarcontoller and a IUNavigationController they seem to work fine. I have a UITableviewController to which I loads my NSMutable array. The user clicks a cell and didSelectRowAtIndexPath xib is loaded onto the stack. I put a 'Learn More' button on the current xib(BookDetailView). I've tried a few approaches to load a newer xib when the 'Learn More' button is pressed but have failed. Ive Tried IBAction and Pushing the Newer xib to the top. Do I need to create another view controller? Thanks for looking.

• Mysql results sorted by list which is unique for each user

  Ive got a table of thousands of products and 50 or so authenticated users. These users all show the products on their own web sites and they all require the ability to have them ordered differently. Im guesing i need some kind of seperate table for the orders which contains the product_id, user_id and order column? How do i do this the most efficiently in mysql so as to be very fast, and not slow down if i get millions of products in the database. Is it even wise to do it in mysql or should i be using some kind of other index like solr/lucene? My Product table is called "products" My User table is called "users" A good example of the functionality i need is google search where you can order/supress the results if you are logged in. edit: the product results will be paginated and the users have the authority to edit the products, so its not just ready only

  After following a tutorial Ive found. Im now redoing it again, without the scaffolding part, to learn it better. However, editing my \app\views\home\index.html.erb to contain: <h1>Rails test project</h1> <%= link_to "my blog", posts_path> I get an error: undefined local variable or method `posts_path' for #<ActionView::Base:0x4e1d954> Before I did this, I ran rake db:create, defined a migration class and ran rake db:migrate, everything without a problem. So the database should contain a posts table. But that link_to command cant seem to find posts_path. That variable (or is it even a function?) is probably defined through the scaffold routine. My question now is; how do I do that manually myself, define posts_path?

• Is it feasible to write a Firefox plugin to make use of ActiveX control on Windows?

  I use an ActiveX control called TAPIEx enabling TAPI phone system integration using MS Access 2000 (+Visual Basic). I want to turn this Access database into a web app with the clients running Firefox (all on internal network). Since Firefox doesnt support ActiveX is it feasible for me to write a Firefox plugin that in turn utilizes the ActiveX control? With regard to how plugins work - Would I be able to call 'functions' of the plugin from page script (eg dial call specifying phone number, check if calls in process)? Would adding these functions to the Firefox right click menu 'globally' inside Firefox be easier? Hope you guys can help. Note I'm not a fulltime programmer; I just need to know how steep the learning curve will be or even if my idea is possible!   In my app ive got a non-activity object which it's role is being a manager class. many times i need to pass "source activity" to methods as parameter to that manager class in order to make some operations on that activity. for exaple let's assume we have MyActivity which gotta do some toast. so i have this manager class called MyManager, and i have this method in it raiseToast(Activity sourceActivity) { Toast.makeText(sourceActivity, demo, Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } and from Myactivity class we calling that method this way: MyManager manager=new MyManager(); manager.raitetoast(MyActivity.this); it works fine. what I'm asking here, is this a proper way to pass an Activity as parameter to a non-activity object? • iPhone: UITableView Becomes Invisible after Changing the Data it Displays

  Hi I have application with a TabBar that controls several views. In one view, I control connections to different servers. Each server provides a different set of items. I display these items in UITableView on another view. The problem is that the tableview displays OK the first time but if I go back to view number one and change the server, thereby changing the list of items that should be displayed in tableview, the tableview becomes invisible for some reason. If I tap on the screen in the place where it should be, it becomes visible again. I create table view like this UITableView * aTableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(X,Y,Width,Height) style:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; [[self view] addSubview:aTableView]; aTableView.dataSource = self; Ive tried to call reloadData and setNeedsDisplay in viewWillAppear of the UIViewController that hosts this tableview but without success. • SHAddToRecentDocs without a file?

  I was toying with an IRC client, integrating it with the windows 7 app bar. To get a "Frequent" or "Recent" items list one has to call SHAddToRecentDocs API. I want to add recent IRC channels visited to the Windows 7 Jumplist for the IRC application. Now, my problem is, IRC channels don't exist in the file system. And SHAddToRecentDocs seems to insist on getting some sort of file system object. Ive tried to work around it by creating a IShellItem pointing to my application, and giving it a command line to launch the channel. The shell is rebelling however, and thus far has not visibly added any of my "recent document" attempts to the Jumplist. Is there no way to do this without creating some kind of entirely unwanted filesystem object?

• my windows forms application throws filenotfoundexception when run on another machine

  Hi, I have created a windows forms application using vs2008. when i copy the bin folder over to another machine and try to run it the applicaiton throws a filenotfoundexception error. Ive looked at the references files used in the project and each file points to either c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727... c:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5... c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Visual Basic Power Packs\1.1... i have verified that these directories exist on the other machines that cause the error. the two machines that i have tried it on and that throw there error are Windows XP WITHOUT VS2008 installed and Windows 7 with VS2008 installed I tried on two machine that DID work which are Windows XP with VS2008 and and my development machine Windows 7 with VS2008 Could anyone provide me with some insight on this issue Thanks

  Hi There, Ive created a multiview application that uses multiple controllers to display and control views. The problem Im having is, when the simulator initially loads the view the header is partially covered by the bar at top of screen and the tool bar at the base is not touching the base of the screen. I used the Interface builder size attributes to control the view when the iphone rotates and it works perfectly. All smaps into place perfectly both in landscape and portrait mode AFTER a rotation but the problem is with the initial load before a rotation occurs. Your thoughts a much appreciated. Tony

• Can obfuscation (proguard) lead to MIDlet malfunction?

  Hi, Im trying to obfuscate a Java MIDlet with proguard. It runs ok on the PC, however, when I run it on the phone, the program opens, connects to the server, and then freezes. If I disable obfuscation, it runs ok again on the phone. Ive tryed all the obfuscation levels for apps (7, 8 and 9 at NetBeans), and none of them seems to work properly, and I cant release this app for comercial use without obfuscation. Also, the compiler throws some warnings: Note: duplicate definition of library class [java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream] Note: there were 14 duplicate class definitions. But I dont know if this is realy the problem. Does anyone knows what is wrong? The obfuscator arguments are listed below: Obfuscator Arguments (7): -dontusemixedcaseclassnames -default package '' -keep public class ** { public *; } Obfuscator Arguments (8): same as (7) plus -overloadaggressively. Obfuscator Arguments (9): same as (8) but -keep public class ** extends javax.microedition.midlet.MIDlet { public *; } instead. Thanks.
