  • Where can I legally download installation media for Microsoft Office 2007?

    I have a license key for Microsoft Office 2007 Professional, but I don't have the media CD. I tried to download it from Microsoft's website but I couldn't find it. I found 1 link but the link is not valid anymore. I asked in a computer shop and they give me media for Office 2007, but not the Professional edition so my key doesn't work on it. Is there anywhere I can legally download installation media for Office 2007 Professional? Please i don't want torrent link

  • What issues ensue from having multiple versions of Office installed?

    My ultimate question is embodied in the title but I thought it might be helpful to others if I detail what instigated my inquiry and my examination of the problem. To me, the first rule of software updates is Primum non nocere -- first, do no harm. So with my Windows 7 system containing both Office 2003 and Office 2010 I blithely proceeded to install this month's updates from Microsoft, containing updates for both versions of Office. While Microsoft officially does not recommend running multiple versions (see, for example, Running Multiple Versions of Microsoft Excel it is possible; I have had two versions installed for a year or more and have never run into an issue before. One thing that is always mentioned is installation order, i.e., the one you want to open files by default should be installed last. I wanted 2010 as my default so I had indeed installed 2003 first then, years later, 2010. So with this round of Windows updates, either it installed patches to 2010 before 2003, knocking out the file association, or the 2003 patch was more comprehensive, in the sense of touching the file association while the 2010 did not. In any case, after updates, double-clicking a .xls file opened 2003 rather than 2010. Web search indicated either: Use the file associations control panel to re-associate .xls files with the correct version of excel. I looked at this first, but it showed what seemed to be an unversioned "Excel" associated with .xls files so I did not check further. (This turned out to be an error on my part; more later.) Re-install versions in the desired order; I find this unreasonable. Run the repair option of the Office installer on the desired version; still seems more work than one should need. Run excel from the command line with "/regserver" on the one to be the default and "/unregserver" on the other. Good idea, but further search indicated that neither 2007 nor 2010 support "/regserver" contrary to some posts (e.g. Default Program With Multiple Versions Installed). Since this was a Windows Update issue and Microsoft provides free support for such, I inquired there as well, but succeeded only in getting the suggestion to uninstall all other versions, period; not acceptable to me. What worked for me was going back to the file associations control panel and manually selected the Office 2010 version of Excel. While it appeared no different in the control panel, it did fix the double-click issue. So if all it takes is this simple fix after an update, I can live with that. What I am wondering is: Has anyone seen any other problems related to having multiple versions of Office installed?

For example we have a staffer who is only in the office Tuesdays and Fridays. We'd like to set up Exchange to send an Out-of-Office message to all internal senders on those days when he's not in. In step 6 and 7, I'm seeing timeouts while waiting for the reply from the server (as seen above). Running the same tracert many times gives varying output, sometimes the response is fine, but sometimes I get this timeout 1, 2 and sometimes for all 3 packets. The timeout always starts at the same server, netnod-ix-ge-b-sth-4470.microsoft.com. I've tried setting the tracert timeout to 10 seconds, but am still getting the timeout. Running tracert towards other servers does not give me the same timeout. Microsoft network technicians tells me that the problem is not on "their" side. Are these timeouts an indicator of a lost packet on the specific node which did not respond? Are the timeouts an indication of there being a problem, or is it normal?

    I'm trying to find a way to flatten images in a MS Word 2007 document. I want the images that have text/labels placed/layered on top of them to be merged into a single image. Are there any tools or AddIns for Word that can do this? With a 100+ page document I'm trying to avoid a manual process... I can't believe Word doesn't have a feature or option hidden somewhere that can do this out of the box.

  • Why does MS-DOS tells me I need extended memory and thinks a file is read-only? [closed]

    I am running a .COM file on a MS-DOS 6.22 boot USB drive When I run it on my laptop the program works fine but when I run it on my desktop I get error 40 not enough extended memory. When I go to the memory tab in GUI I try to switch none to auto, but I get the error "This file might be read-only". It's not read-only, when I put it on my desktop I change the settings and the new settings are in a .pif I can't run .pif in MS-DOs so I need to Change the .exe not create a .pif. Change the amount of extended memory all files have on my MS-DOS. On my laptop there is no memory tab, the only real difference is my laptop is x64. Thanks for helping but I think teh x64 bit has nothing to do with it I dont eve nthink iits in 64 bit mode because Im using a boot USB. What i need to is listed above, thanks for helping.

  • Output excel spreadsheets with or without Office PIA

    I have a program that currently outputs Excel via SpreadsheetML files. I build these using streams. This is very space inefficient for Excel; the files can be 5 to 6 times as large as other Excel binary formats. I would like to output a binary excel format such as .xls or .xlsx, but I don't want to have the installation of the program depend on Office. Some users might have it installed, some might not. How can I handle this gracefully? Is it possible to not have an assembly as a dependency but based on the user enabling binary output still use the assembly?

My ultimate goal is for my program to kick off a mail merge, create several different files and save them accordingly, then e-mail the different files to different people based upon who needs what. So any help on learning how to use the interop properly would be greatly appreciated. I am currently using Visual Studio 2008 and Office 2007 and use vb.net to write my programs. I've not inspected the traffic yet. In particular, I was going to look for ICMP redirects, though why there would be an ICMP redirect at all is not really sensible? .254 used to be the default gateway before the fibre was installed. Any ideas? Doesn't make sense to me why there should be this routing issue :( The Draytek Dual WAN Router was rebooted, the PC was rebooted. The PC had the network disabled and then re-enabled. All the standard stuff when Windows looses the plot. Hopefully somebody recognises the symptoms! PS: Sorry for the long post, but I didn't want to leave something potentially relevant out. PPS: No iSCSI involved on/at this or any other workstation so Windows 7 routing traffic through the gateway for local addresses isn't the issue.
