• Can Apache configuration check cookies?

  My situation: We have a mobile version of our website, and want to start redirecting mobile users to it. The plan is to do this in Apache httpd.conf or .htaccess, using something like this: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} (iPhone|Blackberry|...) RewriteRule (.*) mobile/$1 However we want there to be a way for users to override our default action of redirecting them. One way we thought to do it was to show a link on the mobile site directing back to the regular site, and store a cookie when they use that link. Could the Apache configuration file check a cookie before redirecting? Is there a better way?

• codeigniter problem with mod_rewrite on apache 1.3

  Anybody came into this before? Hosting a site on godaddy, the site is developed in codeigniter framework(php), to get pretty url, put this into .htacess RewriteEngine on RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|images|robots\.txt) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L] problem is only domain.com/index.php seems to work, other urls e.g domain.com/user/login won't work, codeigniter always returns '404 page'. Is there anything going on with godaddy's mod_rewrite or just their apache which as I know is version 1.3. Any clue? [update] a bit CI debug, found /system/libraries/Router.php line 239, line show_404( $segments[0] ); always gets invoded. $segments [ 0='index.php' ], that seems to be the problem, but why? All works on my dev box which is in apache2

• Mod_rewrite not working properly

  I have this in my .htaccess file... RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/invite$ /invite.html It's meant to let a user access this url: http://mysite.com/invite and display the invite.html page. I don't want to redirect the user, but just show them the invite.html page from a better looking URL. When I browse to http://mysite.com/invite though, I get a 404 not found error. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I've tried looking at tutorials for using mod_rewrite but I seem to be doing what they're telling me too... Thanks!

I'm trying to make an administration zone within a subfolder (also ZF) and a API Zend Application for my mobile Android application. The problem is: I rewrited all routes im my principal website, so now it always search for a route when I go to a subfolder.   Hello. I am trying to rewrite mysite.com/broadcasts to mysite.com/feed so that it will show up in the location bar as "broadcasts" but actually go to /feed. Here is what I have in the .htaccess file: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^broadcasts(/)?$ /feed/ </IfModule> But this isn't working... I get a 404 error.   I'm having trouble with this reg expression which i belive is correct, but it is not working. What im trying to do is redirect bunch of urls containing a specific string like this: http://www.example.com/**undesired-string**_another-string to http://www.example.com/**new-string**_another-string and http://www.example.com/folder/**undesired-string**/another-string to http://www.example.com/folder/**new-string**/another-string So i have this code in the .htaccess: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule (.+)+(undesired-string)+(.+) $1new-string$2 [R=301,L] </IfModule> This should replace ANY undesired-string in any url to new-string, but it is not working, any idea why ? • htaccess rewrite; Should I change all relative links or not?

  I have a rewrite in htaccess which makes this: domain.com/ad.php?ad_id=bmw_m3_328942948 into this: domain.com/ads/bmw_m3_328942948 Problem is the links which are relative to the file wont work... for instance if a link is pointing at '/bin/edit.php' like this originally: domain.com/bin/edit.php // WORKS but after the rewrite the link wants to point here instead: domain.com/ads/bin/edit.php // NOT WORK - NOTE THE /ads/ DOESN'T EXIST IN REALITY Do you understand my issue? What is done about this?   I'm having trouble with redirecting urls using the .htaccess file. For some reason it adds "?file_name=example-001.php" to the url. Anyone know's why this is happening and how to fix this?

• RewriteCond simply doesn't work, doesn't check properly if file exists

  Hey everybody. I've been trying to solve this for hours now but came up with nothing. Inside .htaccess, whenever somebody requests an image from a folder of my website, I'm trying to check if a file with the same name exists in another folder; if it does, return that file; if it doesn't, return the file originally requested. It seems so easy but it simply doesn't work. The .htaccess code is as follows: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond /images/blog/watermark/$1 -f RewriteRule ^(.*) /images/blog/watermark/$1 The "RewriteCond" always returns negative, so the image requested is always loaded as is. If I change it to, like, RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f it always returns positive, so it gets the image from the folder I want - except when the image's not there, generating an error, which is exactly what I'm trying to prevent. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

  Can you any one see anything wrong with the following apache rewrite rule: This is in my .htaccess file inside a folder called "text" a subdirectory of localhost/lombardpress I have the following rule Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ([^/]+) /textdisplay.php?fs=$1 [NC] I was expecting this input: http://localhost/lombardpress-dev/text/lectio1 to rewrite to this: http://localhost/lombardpress-dev/text/textdisplay?fs=lectio1 But instead I get a 404 error. The requested URL /textdisplay.php was not found on this server. It looks to me like the RewriteRule has re-written the address but not as I intended - so there must be something wrong with my regular expression. Let me know if I can provide further information.

  Here I am stuck with my htaccess code. I have been trying to figure it out for the last 11 hours why am I getting a redirect loop for the below code. And on the other hand if the user is from any other browsers then he should be redirected to a https version with www as prefix no matter if he types www in the url or not.

  I am playing with mod_rewrite now, and have successfully enabled it. However, I need to put a htaccess file inside var/www/ in order to achieve what I want, which is to rename Urls simply... When I place it my website becomes very strange and nothing basically works... Is there any code I need to put into the htaccess file in order for things to act normally?   Here are the rules: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^$ index.php?action=home [L] RewriteRule ^[\w\W]*$ error.php [L] When a page matches the first one, it is supposed to ignore any other further rules. Yet accessing / results in error.php being invoked. Commenting out the second rule works as intended - the page redirects to index.php. What am I doing wrong? Also: is there a better way to write the last line? It's basically a catch-all.

  Hi, In the root directory of a small site i'm developing i have the following .htacess file: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-F RewriteRule .$ index.php that basically allows me to have pretty urls as it remaps every path that does not exists on the server (eg : /user/details/145 ) as a call to index.php where I handle it MVC-style. While this works ok on MacOs, this morning I have to work on another machine that has Windows (the apache server is run by xampp) and it does not work as it seems to redirect all the calls (eg those to static files like images) to index.php Any help?

• mod_rewrite - strange [R] behavior

  Hello! I'm doing something very simple with mod_rewrite and it's behaving strange. It's behaving as if I'm using the [R] option, but I'm not. Here's a simple test for a .htaccess file: RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^page1$ page2 This should redirect a request for page1 to page2, but leave the URL in the web browser still pointing to page1. That doesn't happen though. It actually switches the URL to page2, as if I were using this code: RewriteRule ^page1$ page2 [R] Why's it doing that? That's not the default behavior. I'm using a pre-configured machine I got for EC2, so it's probably something in the apache configuration I'm not aware of. Googling has been futile. Help? This is Apache 2.12 btw.

• I want to prevent people from accessing my php pages directly using .htaccess

  I have a site that is made up of php pages, but they are served to the user through includes based on what I think they need. if they can guess the name of a php file, they can access those pages. while this is not a security risk at all, i would rather have a way to catch this and redirect them to somewhere else. i really want everything to go through the index page unless it is a file that exists (exeption being for any file ending with .php).   Hello, I recently switched CMSes. While using Wordpress, I had this permalink convention: "/year/post". Now, I'd like to have "year/month/post". To keep legacy links, I need to redirect from "http://site.com/2009/sample-post" to "http://site.com/2009/01/sample-post". "01" should be permanent in this case.   I'm sorta a noob at these things but I'm trying to make a simple virtual subdomain with .htaccess. When I travel to wiki.khpedia.com/index.php, it travels to wiki.khpedia.com/wiki/index.php. I am somehow also able to access wiki.khpedia.com/test. If it doesnt seem obvious yet, I want to be able to go to wiki.khpedia.com/index.php and see wiki.khpedia.com/wiki/index.php but not in my address bar.
