  I have a file sharing website, and my files hosted in a server with those system specifications: 32GB RAM 12x3TB 2x Intel Quad Core E5620 I have files in this server up to 4gb for each file. 446gb is full (/36TB) [root@hosted-by ~]# df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 50G 2.7G 44G 6% / tmpfs 16G 0 16G 0% /dev/shm /dev/sda1 97M 57M 36M 62% /boot /dev/mapper/VolGroup01-LogVol00 33T 494G 33T 2% /home And take a look at this: Why is the wa% so high? (I think that what makes the server to be so slow)

• Windows 7 driver search woefully slow

  Any thoughts on why the driver search (when installing a usb device) on windows 7 is woefully slow? Even when I click to disable trying to get a driver from windows update, it still takes 10min+ to either find a driver, or bail out. Is there a way to speed this up, or alternately, disable windows trying to find drivers, so I can manually install them in device manager?

It's annoying when I've got several variables to specify. To get around the problem I've been typing out the variables first to get regular completion speed, then hitting home' to insertmake` that the start of my command line.   Ive have the Nokia N900 mobile phone (running Maemo linux), and my device is really slow while using the wifi and trying to get stuff online (checking mail, loading pages). The webbrowsers itself (MicroB, Firefox, Opera) starts fast. Yesterday ive tried to set the dns to googles but that did not solve the case. Is there, and how do i check/verify my connection to the internet if im connected to my home wifi in linux? (tools, other then ping :D)

• Wireless internet became extremely slow on my 27" IMac

  The wireless internet on my Mac became extremely slow recently on my 27" IMac. I don't recall doing anything different other than doing the Apple Software updates which I let it pop up and install automatically. On my Mac Book internet is still fine so I don't think it's the model or the router. I'm not sure where to start digging the cause of this or how to solve it. Looking into the System Preferences on my IMac, it's pretty identical to my MacBook!

  VMWare ESXi4 with 2 VM's (FreeBSD-amd64). When doing a reboot on one of the VM's, the reboot is done in normal speed, but after that, the interactive response time on the other gets very slow: pressing return at the command prompt, takes serveral seconds to be exectuted. SSH-ing to the VM machine takes a long time before you are logged in. Only after 20 minutes or so, the situation is normalized. What's the reason and how to remedy?

  I'm wondering why Nautilus is very slow when opening a directory containing lots of files. My /usr/lib dir for example has 1900 files and it takes approximately 5+ seconds to show everything. It has been like this since I installed Ubuntu few months ago and it's really quite annoying sometimes. I don't have powerful hardware but I know that Windows Explorer is so much faster than this.   Hi all, Just recently, typing in forms on the internet has become rediculously slow. I'm on an oldish PC with low memory (1gb) and amd athlon XP 2800+ (2.08 ghz) and get an awesome 1.0 rating from windows :) Thing is though - it only just started happening. Was fine last week. Rsync on the host 192.168.1.72 rsync -auv --progress rut3.img /tmp/ [54.09MB/s] Rsync to the client: rsync -auv --progress rut3.img 192.168.1.80:/tmp/ [25.52MB/s] I realize that there will be some TCP overhead on the transfer but over 50%?   For two months I've been running Ubuntu 11.10 64bits in VirtualBox 4.1.12r77245 but today everything has been really slow, freezing all the time. I've had to restart the VM about 7 times already because Ubuntu just freezed in the middle of a task. I'm using my laptop, it's a LG P420 i5 with 4gb ram. • Slow network file access with VMWare Server and Windows 7

  I have Windows 7 32-bit virtual machine running in a VMWare Server virtual machine. The host is Windows 7 64-bit. When I copy files between them it is extremely slow - it will take several minutes to copy even a 1 MB file. I can upload the file to an website and then download it again almost instantaneously by comparison. Browsing the network is quite zippy and has no problems. I have been unable to set up a HomeGroup between the computers though - the guest always times out without managing to get setup. Any ideas on how I should go about tracking down where the problem is?
