• Make DLL dependent to other DLLs (Visual Studio IDE)

  I'm having an inconsistency when compiling a DLL (let's call it x.dll) by calling cl.exe obj1.obj obj2.obj ... lib1.lib lib2.lib ... /link /out:x.dll /dll /debug and When using the IDE (which calls link directly, I believe). Let's say lib1.lib is an import library for lib1.dll. Opening the DLL generated by calling cl.exe in the depency walker shows it depends on lib1.dll. However, when using the IDE, the generated program is smaller and does not depend on lib1.dll. This IDE-generated image makes the program that uses x.dll crash sometimes. The question is: how do I get the correct behaviour from the IDE?

• How do I force a Coldfusion cfc to output numeric data over JSON as a string?

  I'm calling a Coldfusion component (cfc) using jQuery.post(). I need an integer or string representation of the number returned for use in a URL. {"PAGE":"My Page Title","ID":19382} or {"PAGE":"My Page Title","ID":"19382"} Instead what I get back is a decimal: {"PAGE":"My Page Title","ID":19382.0} Needed to update the following HTML: <a href="page.cfm?id=19382" id="pagelink">My Page Title</a> Conceptually, I suppose there are multiple answers: 1) I could use jQuery to grab the number left of the decimal point. 2) I could force Coldfusion to send the number as a string. 3) I could generate the whole link server side and just replace the whole link tag HTML (not the preferred answer, but maybe it is the best) Does anyone know how to do 1 or 2? Is 3 better?   Hello All, Is it possible to switch HTML on click? I have an index page with a large image on the front. Under the image there is four links. When the cursor rolls over the link I would like a small tool tip to appear. Then when the clicks the link I want the large Image to change and some extra HTML to appear over it. (just a small content box) The tooltip I think I have sorted using Jquery but I'm not sure how I can change the image [b]AND[/b] add a small content box over the image. Thanks in advanced everyone.

• sIFR seems to be loading correctly but not displaying text.

  I'm Using sIFR 3r436, and although I believe everything is set up correctly, and my console shows that the .swf font file is loading correctly, the HTML type is hidden but the sIFR type is not displaying. Below is a link to the site in question: Schaffer's Website Below is a link to a test site that uses exactly the same sifr-config.js, sifr.js, css, and swf files. And it works. The main difference between the two is the server that they are running on. Schaffer's Test Site I'm hoping that maybe somebody can see a problem that I'm unable to. Appreciate the help!

• Python BeautifulSoup Print Info in CSV

  I can print the information I am pulling from a site with no problem. But when I try to place the street names in one column and the zipcodes into another column into a CSV file that is when I run into problems. All I get in the CSV is the two column names and every thing in its own column across the page. Here is my code.   Hi Guys, I have the fllowing requirement, I have a model called Task to display user tasks 1 . Link to add a new task (in the tasks index page) 2 . when a user click the link, 'tasks/new' action will open up inside a popup 3 . when the user save the new task, I want to close 'new task' popup and refresh the parent page 'tasks/index' so that new task will display I guess, i will have to execute a page reload java script at the end of 'tasks/create' action.   In MSBuild it's straightforward to define, say, a PropertyGroup which depends on the value of a property Foo: <PropertyGroup Conditional="'$(Foo)'=='Bar'" /> Is it also possible for the conditional to depend on a task parameter? For example, I'd like to use the value of the Link task's SubSystemparameter roughly like this: <PropertyGroup Conditional="'$(Link/SubSystem)'=='Console'" /> but don't know if it is possible, and if it is, what the correct syntax is. I'm pretty new to MSBuild though, so it's perfectly possible that I've missed something.

• How to eliminate authentication on my MVC app that is called from asp.net forms app

  Curious what recommendations anyone has. I have an existing asp.net forms application that does a Forms Authentication and has identity impersonate turned on. The application has a link to a questionnaire that I would like to develop separately in an asp.net MVC application, but I don't want the users to click on the link and be prompted for a username and password, I would like them to be able seamless start filling out the questionnaire. Is there a way to somehow transfer authentication from one .net app to another? I would like to be able to pass stuff like UserRole. What's the best way to do this?

• Ajax twice + facbook login/logout

  Hi, I have a very specific problem. The site I'm developing loads the FB connect button by ajax (it loads the box that includes FBC button). And when user logs in it loads instead of it the box with FB logout link. The problem is that FB requires to call FB.init() at the end of the body (when all the FB stuff is already on the page) and you can't do it twice as the second time is ignored. So what happens is - I do FB.init() inside the login box and FBC button works perfectly, but the logout link doesn't as FB.init() doesn't work there. The only solution I came up with is to place the login and logout buttons outside of ajax boxes and show them in the right places after ajax boxes are loaded. I'm pretty much sure this will work but I don't like the solution (which looks more like hack).

• Data structure for unrooted trees

  I'm having problems figuring out how to build an unrooted tree with weighted edges and what data structure to store such a tree. An example of an unrooted tree would be like the one here: http://www.bio.davidson.edu/courses/GENOMICS/seq/unrooted.gif The problem i am having is the leaves would only have 1 link to the internal nodes and the internal nodes would have 3 links(the internal nodes would have 2 children and a link to another internal node). Do i have to distinguish between the 2 different kinds of nodes or can i have one class having the function of both types of nodes?

• javascript pop-up menu help

  I am working on a project similar to a table where the user will be able to add rows. Right now there is just one row type available but I would like to give the user the ability to select from a list without changing the layout of the page. So, I put together a menu that appears on mouseover of the 'add row' link and disappears on mouseout (with a slight delay and fade in/out) using mootools event listeners. It looks like: I am now trying to figure out an easy way to make it so that the list stays available when the user's mouse leaves the 'add a row' link to go to select an item from the list. I looked through various mootools add-ons and tutorial but didn't find anything all that helpful. Does anyone know of a good tutorial guide me through this or can otherwise point me in the right direction here?

• Video playback with jQuery Mobile and Phonegap

  I'm fairly new to mobile apps, so am trying to knock up a simple video player using Phonegap and jQuery Mobile. The problem is, jQuery mobile appears to be blocking the video playback for some reason. I don't know jQuery mobile at all, but searching in the js for a reference to the video elements doesn't show up, so I've no idea what is blocking it. The code works fine in Chrome and Firefox. There are no console messages in Xcode. I also tried hooking up to http://debug.phonegap.com/ but this gave no error messages either. Any ideas??

  I'm learning Python and decided to start familiarizing myself with the (defacto?) Python web framework - django. I have successfully installed the latest release of django. I want a simple 'hello world' website that will get me up and running quickly. I am already familiar with web frameworks (albeit for different languages) - so I just need a simple 'hello world' example website to help me get going. Ideally, I don't want to mess up with my Apache server settings (as I am still experimenting), so I want to use the lightweight web server that django bundles. I cant seem to find how to do this on the django website though - no doubt someone will post a link and shame me ... So, does anyone know of a link that shows how to get a simple 'hello world' django website up and running with minimal fuss?

  After two days fighting, I make the dll(compiled in GCC/G++) link correctly in MSVC, but while debuging, I got the runtime error, is say that: Runtime Error! Program: my_exe.exe This application has required the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. I have test something in that way: compiled a dll in mingw/gcc, link and debug in MSVC, it works correctly ,but while I implement it in my large project, I got the runtime error. And I tested the dll in mingw/GCC, it works correctly, it says that the runtime error does not come from programming error,it comes from the dll imcompatible between different platform. • Why isn't my favicon appearing in IE7/8?

It will not appear in IE 7/8 no matter what I do! I've tried everything I can think of, including: generating the ICO with a variety of different utilities, changing the syntax of the favicon link elements in the document head, using absolute, relative, and root-relative URLs in the favicon link elements, using a PNG instead of an ICO file, ensuring that I am uploading the file via FTP in binary mode, As a longtime web developer/programmer, I can't believe that this is tripping me up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Hi all, I was using this JQuery in this download link, and included it in the head tag of a HTML web page: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script> In a php web page, I got these few lines of codes: $.ajax({ url: 'http://mywebsite.com/site1/toavail/, type: "post", success: function(data) { // some more code here } }); When I tested the HTML page in IE 6, and 7, I saw the same warning message: "permission denied" When I tested it in Firefox 3, nothing was returned from the server web page. Later, I changed the JQuery source link to be: http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.js I refreshed the web page, and I could saw the returned value then.

• Silverlight debugging, no list element view

  When I'm debugging my Silverlight Appliction and I'm using a list internally I cannot hover over the list and see the items inside the list. I just see the RAW view of the list. If I want to see the items I have to write my own code which is tedious. Is this something normal to Silverlight? • How to add libraries in C++?

  Yea this is a dumb question... However in both of my C++ classes we did not do this at all (except for native libraries: iostream, iomanip, etc.)... My question is can anyone provide a link that gives the general explanation of adding libraries to C++? I do realize what what #include means; it's just I have no clue on the linker/directories in a C++ IDE. So long question short; could I get a general explanation of terms used to link libraries in C++? I'm using c::b w/ MinGW.

• Selenium navigation inside foreach loop

  I am having an issue with navigation. I get a list of rows from an html table. I iterate over the rows and scrape information from them. But there is also a link on the row that I click to go to more information related to the row to scrape. Then I navigate back to the page with the original table. This works for the first row, but for the subsequent rows, it throws an exception. I look at my row collection after the first time the link inside a row is clicked, and none of them have the correct values like they did before I clicked the link. I believe that there is something going on when I navigate to a different URL that I'm not getting. My code is below.
