    I currently use AnkhSVN to integrate subversion into Visual Studio. Is there any reason I should switch to VisualSVN? AnkhSVN is free (in more than one sense of the word) while VisualSVN costs $50. So right there unless I'm missing some great feature of VisualSVN I don't see any reason to switch.

    Is it possible to change a column type in a MS SQL 2008 database from varchar(255) to varchar(MAX) without having to drop the table and recreate? SQL Server Management Studio throws me an error every time I try to do it using that - but to save myself a headache would be nice to know if I can change the type without having to DROP and CREATE.     I would like to craft a case-insensitive regex (for JavaScript) that matches street names, even if each word has been abbreviated. For example: n univ av should match N University Ave king blv should match Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd ne 9th should match both NE 9th St and 9th St NE Bonus points (JK) for a "replace" regex that wraps the matched text with <b> tags.

  • Different Azure blob streams when using .Net client vs. REST interface

    I have encountered an unusual difference in the way that the .Net client for Azure and the direct REST API bring back streams of binary data. If I use the CloundBlob.DownloadToStream() vs. getting the response stream from the HTTP response, I get streams with the same length, but different content. Specifically the REST response seems to 0 out a series of bytes. I've discovered this issue because I'm trying to use the byte range feature for blobs which is currently not supported in the .Net client (if I'm wrong on this point and someone can point at where I can do this it might make the rest of this question irrelevant). The type of work these people do does relate loosely to the web, but I suspect better, more appropriate titles that more accurately reflect the job function would make more sense.   • VS2010. Dropdownlist Autopostback works in IDE, not when deployed

    I have a VS2010 RC ASP.NET web page,when a user changes the drop down selection on an auto postback dropdown, it refreshes a small grid and a few labels in various places on the page. I know wrapping a whole page in a big UpdatePanel control will cause horror from many of you, but that's what I did. I really didn't want a full page refresh and I didn't know how to update a table on the client side using Javascript and I figured it would be a big change. Suggestions for avoiding this are welcomed, but my main desire is to understand teh error I am getting. When I do the auto postbacks in the IDE, everything works fine, but if I deploy the code (IIS 5.5 on XP), the second auto postback works but the seconds one gives me his error. Ajax is one big nasty blackbox to me. Can someone help, please?     I have a Tree object in my Flex code. It's width is 100%, and it is contained by a Panel with width=200. I am using a custom itemrenderer that extends TreeItemRenderer. I need the text in each node to word wrap if it's too big (as happens often). I have tried label.wordWrap = true; in my item renderer without any luck. Any other suggestions?

    Is anyone aware of a Pascal interpreter/compiler which is embeddable in C++ (or anything else other than Pascal) applications? I am cloning (for lack of a better word) an application which uses an Object-Pascal compatible scripting language and needs to be script compatible. Am I going to end up writing an interpreter? (!)
