  • On saving a new record an associated id changes to 9 figure number

    - by Dave
    Hi, I have a table of venues, with each venue belonging to an area and a type. I recently dropped the table and added to it some addressline fields. I have re-migrated it but now the area_id field saves as a random? 9 figure number. Both the area_id and venuetype_id integers are created in the same way from the create new form and the venuetype_id saves as normal but not the area_id. Can anyone offer any help? whats shown in the console => [#<Venue id: 4, name: "sdf", addressline1: "", addressline2: "", addressline3 : "", addressline4: "", icontoppx: 234, iconleftpx: 234, area_id: 946717224, ven uetype_id: 8, created_at: "2011-03-17", updated_at: "2011-03-17 23:33:53">] irb(main):030:0> the area_id should be 8 in the above example. The area and venuetype id's are slected from dropdown boxes on the new venue form. new form <%= form_for @venue do |f| %> <p>name: <br> <%= f.text_field :name %></p> <p>top: <br> <%= f.text_field :icontoppx %></p> <p>left: <br> <%= f.text_field :iconleftpx %></p> <p>addressline1: <br> <%= f.text_field :addressline1 %></p> <p>addressline2: <br> <%= f.text_field :addressline2 %></p> <p>addressline3: <br> <%= f.text_field :addressline3 %></p> <p>addressline4: <br> <%= f.text_field :addressline4 %></p> <p>area: <br> <%= f.collection_select(:area_id, Area.all, :id, :name) %></p> <p>venuetype: <br> <%= f.collection_select(:venuetype_id, Venuetype.all, :id, :name) %></p> <br><br> <div class="button"><%= submit_tag %></div> <% end %> Areas table class CreateAreas < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up create_table :areas do |t| t.string :name t.timestamps end end def self.down drop_table :areas end end Thanks very much for any help!

  • Why does this crash: stringByAppendingFormat

    - by Emil
Hey. My code crashes at this function (at the stringByAppendingFormat: with error objc_msgSend() selector name: stringByAppendingFormat). This is that line: // imagesPath = ...iPhone Simulator/4.0/Applications/NUMBERS/Documents/images UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:[imagesPath stringByAppendingFormat:@"/%d.png", [[self.postsArrayID objectAtIndex:row] intValue]]]; Could it have something to do with the retaining of objects? Thanks :)

  • How do Perl FIRSTKEY and NEXTKEY work

    - by mmccoo
Tie::Hash has these: sub FIRSTKEY { my $a = scalar keys %{$_[0]}; each %{$_[0]} } sub NEXTKEY { each %{$_[0]} } NEXTKEY takes two arguments, one of which is the last key but that arg is never referenced? The various Tie docs don't shed any light on this other than this in perltie: my $a = keys %{$self->{LIST}}; # reset each() iterator looking at the doc for each doesn't add to this. What's going on?

  • Would a pointer to a pointer to nil match against NULL?

    - by dontWatchMyProfile
Example: A validation method contains this check to see if an NSError object shall be created or not: - (BOOL)validateCompanyName:(NSString *)newName error:(NSError **)outError { if (outError != NULL) { // do it... Now I pass an NSError object, like this: NSError *error = nil; BOOL ok = [self validateCompanyName:@"Apple" error:&error]; I'm not sure if this matches the check for not NULL. I think it's not NULL, since I believe NULL is not nil. Maybe someone can clear this up?

  • Recursive only 2 level records using common sql

    - by Tony
I have an Employee table, it's a self-referencing table, with managerId refers to primary key empID. I want to find 2 level records by a given empId. For example: if given empId=5, if empId=5 has children records, display them, as well as the children in children records. You may also provide a recursive suggestion without level limitation. The database is SQL Server 2005.

  • include link list depending on category

    - by user117701
I want to display the linklist widget only on a certain category. The current way the sidebar is fetched is: if (!function_exists('dynamic_sidebar') || !dynamic_sidebar(1)) Which doesnt give me a say in the calling of the links widget. If i put an if clause there, then the rest of the widgets dont get loaded. So i either need to customize the links widget it self or find a way to call the links widget directly? And how do i check which category i'm on?

  • Looking for a chart of Wpf Bindings

    - by BSalita
I'm probably typical in being bewildered by the many syntaxes of Wpf binding. Does anyone know of a chart that lays out all the possibilities. Across one axis is all the variations of binding syntaxes (Static, Dynamic, Self, ...), the other axis are all the variations of scoping and type. The intersection of the axis show an example. Surely someone, some author has done this, eh?
