• lighttpd not reliable

  Hi there, I have a lighttpd running which serves a django-based webservice. It was running well for some months, but from today on, it returns a 410 sometimes, and sometimes fails silently. To test, I make a curl-call, which most time runs fine; it returns some json test-data. Some times. however, it does not return any data, but the call seems to have run well, since I don't get an error code. When I post to my webservice via third-party-packaged like boto, I sometimes get a "410 gone" - but I do not find any entry in the lighttpd error log. Any ideas what the problem could be or how to avoid this? Thanks a lot

• Is there a way to send tracking info to Google Analytics from PHP ?

  I have a PHP code that will return a image. the link is given to 3rd party. so, i need to keep track where the php request coming from. Because the PHP only return the image, I cannot use the Javascript code for Google analytics. I know that I can get the information from the access.log, but i think I can't dump the access.log to GA for analyzing, right? so, is there a way that I can do in PHP (e.g. sending a CURL ), send somethig to Google Analytics for tracking?

• Ideas for loading initial data in an iPhone application?

  Hi all, In my app I want to load some initial data to show the user how it works. The app uses a CoreData managed sqllite db. SO far I've thought of 3 options: Write code into a class to programmatically create the data. Create a xml file in the apps resources and load through a NSXmlParser whose delegate creates the entries in the sqllite db. Same as option #2, but use a json file and bring in a 3rd party lib to read it. Are there other options I have not found yet? and given that I'm talking about perhaps 6 records per table when there are 3 tables, which would you choose?

• How to disable Spotlight content indexing in Mac OS

  From Windows experience, I could always elect Live search to only index file names not their content. Is this something that can be done with Spotlight on a Mac? It used to index absolutely everything, for instance it would return a bunch of video files for any obscure character combination typed into the search field. Right now I've disabled Spotlight entirely as per this answer, but it seems to have disabled searching altogether. For instance, Finder is yet to locate any .pdf files in a small directory as I'm typing this question (unlike windows search which would still be able to work even with indexing disabled) Alternatively, if there is any way (including a trusted third-party app) that will index file names and metadata e.g. ID3 tags that would likely be the preferred option.

• Limit number of concurrent user logins in Windows Server 2008 Active Directory

  Is there the possibility to limit Active Directory users' max concurrent login sessions? I've read many articles and discussions about the solution, but none of them seem to be working. Many had suggested UserLogin script that doesn't work in Windows Server 2008. Some other suggested CConnect that is not good enough. It's also very complicated. Some others have introduced UserLock that should be paid for. It's wondering that Windows Server 2003 DOES have the feature (wile as a third-party), but Windows Server 2008 doesn't have! • Laptop white screen on power-up. Still displays via HDMI output

  my wife's laptop recently started displaying a white screen. It doesn't show post or anything, just a white screen when it's powered on. However, it works normally with HDMI output to our television. I took it apart and fiddled with both ends of the display cable, but I either didn't fiddle correctly or that's just not the problem. I also noticed that the screen won't turn off anymore when the laptop is closed. Is there a name for the mechanism that controls this function, so I can try and locate it? My guesses are that the problem lies with the screen itself or the display cable, but I'm curious if there's anything else I might be overlooking. Also of note is that the left hinge is partially broken. The corner of the plastic computer case broke off, so the hinge is exposed and doesn't stay in place. I've tried holding it in place, wiggling it around, tapping various parts of the computer, but the white screen remains.

  Hi, I have problem with one my conputer, it does not display any website properly. The background clouds on some websites do not show up, the layout of some websites are not properly displayed. And it only happen to only one computer. OS: Windows XP IE: 7 (not working on either IE7 or IE 8) I have tried to add my website as trusted site still that site is not working properly. I also tried Internet Options Advanced ... Check Show images, smart image dithering, enable visual styles in button and controls on webwage. Is there anything else I could do to fix the problem? • How can i handle mouse double click event on textbox?

  Hello, I want to open one child window on mouse double click of textbox. I know the only event available in Silverlight is MouseLeftButtonDown and you have to simulate double click. However it still doesn't work when i click in the middle of the textbox. It only works when i double click on the border of the textbox. Anybody has any ideas of how can i do this? If any 3rd party library is available then also it's fine. Thanks in advance:)

• Routing based on source address in Windows Server 2008 R2

  I'm implementing a direct routing load balanced solution using Windows Server 2008 R2 as back-end server. I've configured a loopback interface with the external IP address. This works, I am receiving packets with the external IP address and respond to them appropriately. However our infrastructure requires that traffic which is being load-balanced should go through a different gateway then any other traffic originating from the server, ie. updates etc. So basicly I need to route packets based on source address (external IP) to another gateway. The built-in Windows 'route' command allows routing based on destination address only. I've tried setting a default gateway on the loopback interface and mangled with weak/strong host send/receive parameters on the interfaces, however this didn't work. Is there any way around this, possibly using third party tools?

• Member of local Administrators group cannot elevate

  Hi We have just installed the first Windows 7 (professional) workstation in our domain. Its primary user has been added to the local (computer's) Administrators group (computername\Administrators). Still, whenever elevation is needed, his credentials are not accepted, and he is never allowed to act as an administrator. For example, he cannot write a file to C:\ (not that he needs to, but it illustrates the problem). Putting him in the domain's Administrators group doesn't help either (anyway we'd rather not do that). I suspect that he may be the victim of some policy that controls elevation, but can't seem to find it. Can anyone shed some light?

• Fullscreen Photo/Video Slideshow App?

  I have a folder that contains a lot of subfolders which include photos and/or videos. Is there any free application that would display them in a random slideshow? It's something I want to run on a PC mounted on a wall. I point it to that folder and it starts displaying it, with some random/nice transitions. No need for anything more fancy, except maybe Previous/Next controls. Edit: Just a quick clarification. Those pictures change all the time, and there are many of them. It's supposed to be in a store to display product pictures, so it's not like someone is actively watching the whole show. Currently, there are around 150,000 pictures or videos.

• Very Strange behavior in custom dataGrid

I have a dataGrid with a custom itemRenderer. Everytime I tab at least two times on the dataGrid, the cell below the one I taped gets selected. This doesn't happen if I uncomment the code in the method saveBackDataGridContent()! The second problem is that if the Line is shorter than the entered text, a horizontalScrollBar will get active, although I set setStyle("horizontalScrollPolicy", "off");... Who can solve that one? • Win Server 2003 - Task Scheduler - Tasks with GUI and Services

  I need to run excel macro daily. I scheduled it with Windows Scheduler and it worked fine until I had to change my password. I wonder if it's possible to have a task scheduled without a password? As alternative we have third party scheduling software, but this software cannot launch excel. The tech support said that since excel has gui and scheduling software runs as service with "Allow to interact to Desktop" disabled, it cannot launch excel. Also tech support mentioned that "Allow to interact to Desktop" is not supported as of Vista. I totally trust tech support guy, I just need a work around that would make my network administrator and me happy. Regards.

  I have a Acer Aspire TimelineX 4830TG-6808 laptop running windows 7 Ultimate with one VGA port and one HDMI port. It has one Intel HD Graphics family card and one NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M. Right now I have one monitor running via the VGA port, and also the basic laptop monitor. When I look at the monitor setup, I see one unused video card available. Can I have another monitor via the HDMI port? If I cannot run three monitors, is there some way I could make a large "single" desktop that extends over two monitors? For the sake of celerity, maybe something like having a virtual machine window that extends over two monitors. Could this maybe come from third party software?

• Treating a fat webservice in .net 3.5 c#

  I'm dealing with an obese 3rd party webservice that returns about 3mb of data for a simple search results, about 50% of the data in that response is junk. Would it make sense then to remap this data to my own result object and ditch the response so I'm storing 1-2 mb in memory for filtering and sorting rather than using the web-responses own object and using 2-4 or am I missing a point? So far I've been accessing the webservice from a separate project and using a new class to provide the interaction and to handle the persistence so my project looks like this |- Web (mvc2 proj) |- DAL (database/storage fluent-nhibernate) |- SVCGateway (interaction layer + webservice related models) |- Services -------------- |- Tests |- Specs I'm trying to make the application behave fast and I also need to store the result set temporarily in case a customer goes to view the product and wants to go back to the results. (Service returns only 500 of possible 14K results). So basically I'm looking for confirmation that I'm doing the right thing in pushing the results into my own objects or if I'm breaking some rule or even if there's a better way of handling it.   Windows To Go is one of the most exciting Windows 8 features to me - the ability to pack up your desktop environment and take it with you anywhere is extremely appealing. Unfortunately, it's only included with Windows 8 Enterprise, which you can't buy for individual use. Is there an equivalent that works for Windows 8 Professional? I would be satisfied by either a third-party program that does the same thing, or some workaround to enable Windows To Go for non-Enterprise versions. I'm aware of various WinPE-based live environments, and that's not what I'm looking for. I want the ability to run a full Windows 8 environment off of a flash drive that I can take anywhere.

  I'm looking for a way to obtain information similar to the following console applications, remotely: net use net share netstat -ano However, I need to be able to do this without running a 3rd party application on the system. This effectively rules out using psexec to execute the command remotely, because psexec would then be installed as a service. I should add that I have administrative credentials on the remote system. I've considered using WMI's remote execution ability, but that requires me to write output to a file and then retrieve it. It's possible, but I'd like to know if anyone has a better way. I am using Delphi 2010.

  Hello everyone, I have a scenario in which I have multiple sources to bind to my model. For one, I have a view tied to a strongly-typed model, but this scenario also entails posting data to this view from a 3rd party site. Essentially, what I believe I am after in the custom model binding is to investigate the form values in the Request object within HTTPContext to see if I have a field such as "postedFirstName". If so, I want to bind that value instead of the textbox "FirstName" in my view. I've done a good bit of searching but have not find anything that exactly addresses such a scenario.   Hi, I have a model Transaction for which I need to display the results of many calculations on many fields for a subset of transactions. I've seen 2 ways to do it, but am not sure which is the best.   I've recently been working with an opensource library for a commercial product. The opensource code is distributed from the website of the company who sells the proprietary product as a zip file. The library is a (direct) port to C# of the original library which is in Java. As such, it uses methods instead of getter/setter properties. The code contains copyright notices to the supplier of the product. The C# port was originally provided to the company by a 3rd party individual. I have modified the source to be more C# like and added a couple of small features. I want to put my version of the code out there (Google code or where ever) so that C# users of the software can benefit from a more native feeling library.
