• How to detect if a Surface Contact is over a ScatterView?

  This is a (kind of) similar situation as in the SDK Sample Shopping Cart for MS Surface. I have an application with two ScatterViews. The first covers the complete Surface window ('surface'). The second resides in a TagVisualization object ('pod'). There might be more than one pod available (if more than one tag is down on the table). I would like to be able to drag a ScatterViewItem from the 'pod' to the 'surface' or another 'pod'. I have no problems in detecting if a ScatterViewItem is leaving its ScatterView parent. Also, no problems in reparenting the ScatterViewItem. However, I want to detect which ScatterView the item is being dragged on. In the SDK Sample they have used a visual element (an ellipse in this case) which is below the ScatterViews. VisualTreeHelper.HitTest is used to determine if the contact is over the ellipse. If so, the 'connected' ScatterView is found. I don't think this is a very elegant solution. I wouldn't want a visual element put in there, just to detect if a contact is over a ScatterView. Are there betterwways to accomplish this kind of 'hittesting'? Thanks, Bart

• Binding property to Silverlight dependency property independent of DataContext

  I'm trying to make an Address control that has an IsReadOnly property, which will make every TextBox inside read only when set to true. <my:AddressControl Grid.Column="1" Margin="5" IsReadOnly="True"/> I've managed to do this just fine with a dependency property and it works. Not surprising because its looking for IsReadOnly on the Address data entity and it doesn't exist or belong there. I've tried just about every combination of binding attributes to get IsReadOnly to bind to the AddressControl obejct but can't get it working. I've tried things like this, but I can't get IsReadOnly to bind independently to the AddressControl property instead of its DataContext. <TextBox IsReadOnly="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}, Path=IsReadOnlyProperty}" Text="{Binding City, Mode=TwoWay}" /> I think I'm pretty close. What am I doing wrong?

• Maven Multi-Module builds not honoring failsafe-maven-plugin?

  I recently discovered that Hudson was not the problem. In actuality it was Maven itself as the multi-module build was causing the build failure, not Hudson. I just hadn't noticed where the issue actually existed. Leaving the original question here. I'm using the failsafe-maven-plugin to run some integration tests. The difference between failsafe and surefire is that failsafe allows failures and does not fail the build. On my nightly builds there are occasions that a service the integration tests use might be down. In normal builds, the failsafe plugin would let the build continue since the integration tests are allowed to fail. However, Hudson does not seem to respect this and stops the build and produces rain. I tried to turn the failsafe tests off on nightly builds using -DskipITs. This appears to fail since I'm in a multi module build. Any ideas on how to get Maven to respect that these tests can fail even though they're part of a specific module? • UITableViewCell no userInteraction but on cell.accessoryView

  hello genius and nerds I have a TableViewCell with a UISwitch in accessoryView. I don't want that blue background if someone selected it. There fore i used cell.userInteractionEnabled = NO; but then the whole cell isnt accessable so i tried that cell.userInteractionEnabled = NO; cell.accessoryView.userInteractionEnabled = YES; i think this wont work because cell is the parent of the accessoryView. but how can i manage this issue ? A hint in the right direction would be great. • Flex chart axis title blinking on resize

  I am having a chart with titles for horizontal and vertical axis. the verticalAxisTitleAlignment property of the vertical axis renderer is set to vertical. The application is a portal sort of thing and this chart is placed inside a small window. on click of the window am resizing the parent of the chart. but at that time the title of the axis is blinking and it provides a feeling that the resizing is not smooth. I dont understand why this happens? does the tile renders each time when the component is maximized? is there any way to stop that?   My knowledge of Lambda expressions is a bit shaky, while I can write code that uses Lambda expressions (aka LINQ), I'm trying to write my own method that takes a few arguments that are of type Lambda Expression. Background: I'm trying to write a method that returns a Tree Collection of objects of type TreeItem from literally ANY other object type. My reasons for doing this is that I have a control that accepts a List of type TreeItem, whereas I have dozens of different types that are all in a tree like structure, and don't want to write seperate conversion methods for each type (trying to adhere to the DRY principle). Am I going about this the right way? Is there a better way of doing this perhaps?

• Javascript floodlight tracking iframe leaves browser window blank, please help!

  Hello, I have been asked to implement a javascript floodlight tag onto my site which is to be called everytime a customer downloads a pdf file.   I have a datagrid and I added silverlight 4 toolkit contextmenu to textbox in datagrid as follows. When users right click on the textbox, contextmenu is being displayed. When users click the menu item with Header "Test", "MenuItem_Click" is getting executed. Now I want to access the textbox from the MenuItem_Click and modify its properties like background etc. Is there anyway to find textbox element(which is contextmenu's parent) from MenuItem_Click event? • Display ASP.NET GridView inside a selected row in another GridView

  I have been given a mockup that I do not know is possible to code in ASP.NET without being a real html and javascript wizard. I want a GridView that when a row is selected, the selected row expands and below the selected row a panel of additional information is shown, which would also include another small GridView. The idea is this would all be in-line. So if the user selected row 4, then the additional information would appear below row 4 and then after the additional information the parent GridView would continue with row 5. Ultimately I would want to do a multi-select type of set up, but first I need to figure out if this is even possible. Also, the solution must be 508 Compliant The one solution I considered was using only one "column". Then I would put all my fields in the ItemTemplate, and my detail panel content in the EditItemTemplate and instead of selecting the row, set it to edit mode. The problem with this solution is I lose the functionality of multiple columns if I throw everything in one huge ItemTemplate. Any and all suggestions or ideas are appreciated.

• Large Django application layout

  I am in a team developing a web-based university portal, which will be based on Django. We are still in the exploratory stages, and I am trying to find the best way to lay the project/development environment out. My initial idea is to develop the system as a Django "app", which contains sub-applications to separate out the different parts of the system. The reason I intended to make these "sub" applications is that they would not have any use outside the parent application whatsoever, so there would be little point in distributing them separately. We envisage that the portal will be installed in multiple locations (at different universities, for example) so the main app can be dropped into a number of Django projects to install it. We therefore have a different repository for each location's project, which is really just a settings.py file defining the installed portal applications, and a urls.py routing the urls to it. I have started to write some initial code, though, and I've come up against a problem. Some of the code that handles user authentication and profiles seems to be without a home. It doesn't conceptually belong in the portal application as it doesn't relate to the portal's functionality. It also, however, can't go in the project repository - as I would then be duplicating the code over each location's repository. If I then discovered a bug in this code, for example, I would have to manually replicate the fix over all of the location's project files. My idea for a fix is to make all the project repos a fork of a "master" location project, so that I can pull any changes from that master. I think this is messy though, and it means that I have one more repository to look after. I'm looking for a better way to achieve this project. Can anyone recommend a solution or a similar example I can take a look at? The problem seems to be that I am developing a Django project rather than just a Django application.

• UIImagePickerController does nothing when using camera after I hit "Use" button

• Single Sign On for Web Application and Application in Virtual Directory

  To enable single sign-on for a web application and a web application in a virtual directory, I set the machinekey in both apps to the same: <machineKey validationKey="xxx" decryptionKey="yy" validation="SHA1" /> The single sign on works just fine, but existing users can't sign in any more; their passwords are rejected. The machinekey used to be this in the parent application: <machineKey validationKey="xxx,IsolateApps" decryptionKey="yy,IsolateApps" validation="SHA1" /> I tried other ways to make single sign on work, but it just won't as long as the keys contain "IsolateApps". What am I missing? I should add that the in the membership provider, passwordFormat is set to "Encrypted". So I assume the password was encrypted using the key that contained "IsolateApps" and now when it tries to validate the password it's using the key without the "IsolateApps". Still not sure how to solve that problem. Is there maybe a way that I can set the encryption keys for the password separately from the one that is used for the authentication cookie?

• Keyboard Animation Issues When Calling becomeFirstResponder within a Modal View Controller

  I've been having some issues with calling -becomeFirstResponder on a UITextField contained with a view controller that is presented modally. I call this method in the modal view controller's -viewDidLoad method so that the keyboard is immediately displayed. What I expected is for both the keyboard and the modal view controller to animate from up the bottom of the screen at the same time. However, what I'm observing is the following: There is a ~0.2 second UI lag between clicking the button that calls the -presentModalViewController:animated: method on the parent view controller and when the child view controller begins to animate modally. The keyboard is immediately presented with absolutely no animation about half-way through the modal view controller's animation. Once the modal view controller's animation is complete, everything else seems to operate smoothly. Dismissing the modal view controller results in it being smoothly animated off screen (along with the keyboard, coincidentally). It's as if the keyboard's animation and the modal view controller's animation are both competing for some lower-level Core Animation resource at the same time, but I don't see why this should be happening. What further seems to corroborate this hunch is if I don't ask the UITextField to become the first responder (i.e., if I don't ask the keyboard to present itself), then there is absolutely no UI lag, and the modal view controller animates instantly. Interestingly, if I do something like [self.textField performSelector:@selector(becomeFirstResponder) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.0001]; then the animation of the keyboard happens nearly at the same time as the modal view controller's animation -- it's extremely difficult to tell that they aren't both being animated at the exact same time. Furthermore, there's no more UI lag. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

• Click in a ListView item changes status of elements inside the item?

  Hi, I don't know exactly how to explain this problem, but I'll try. I have a ListView with several items. Each item has inside a TextView and two ImageView. I want the ImageView change when I click on them, and I want to open a context menu when I press for a long time into the ListView item. For the ImageView, everything works properly. For the whole item, I can show the context menu after a long press, but my problem is that the ImageView changes as well when I am pressing the TextView, for example. • WPF DataGrid HeaderTemplate Mysterious Padding

  I am placing a single button with an image in the header of a column of a DataGrid. The cell template is also just a simple button with an image. <my:DataGridTemplateColumn> <my:DataGridTemplateColumn.HeaderTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Button ToolTip="Add New Template" Name="AddNewTemplate" Click="AddNewTemplate_Click"> <Image Source="../Resources/add.png"/> </Button> </DataTemplate> </my:DataGridTemplateColumn.HeaderTemplate> <my:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Button ToolTip="Edit Template" Name="EditTemplate" Click="EditTemplate_Click" Tag="{Binding}"> <Image Source="../Resources/pencil.png"/> </Button> </DataTemplate> </my:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> </my:DataGridTemplateColumn> When rendered, the header has approximately 10-15px of padding on the right side only which causes the cells to obviously render at that width leaving the cell button having empty space on both sides. Being a pixel-perfectionist this annoys the hell out of me. I had initially thought that it was space for the arrows displayed when sorted but I have sorting disabled on both the entire DataGrid and explicitly on the column. Here's a image: I assume this is padding form whatever is the parent element of the button. Does anyone know a way to eliminate it?

• Can the Windows Indexing Service restart an app pool if it doesn't index the Web.Config?

  I am having a slight debate with a colleague of mine on this subject. Scenario: A web site has a sub directory that is indexed using the Windows Indexing Service. There is not a web.config in this directory and the indexing service is not indexing the parent directory which is the site root. Something is causing the app pool to restart at supposedly random times. From what I am finding online, the only time the Windows Indexing service would cause an app pool restart is if it's indexing the web.config (or machine.config). My colleague is saying that the indexing service is causing the restarts just because it's in a child folder of the root. So...does anyone have any information or experience on this? If the indexing service is indexing a child folder of the root but not the root directory itself, can it cause IIS to restart the site's app pool? EDIT: The sub directory in question is NOT the bin directory. I know it would cause such as well; however, the bin directory is not the target of the indexing service.

  hey guys, someone from doctype sent me here. long story short: var o="before"; x = function() //this needs to be an anonymous function { alert(o); //the variable "o" is from the parent scope }; o="after"; //this chages "o" in the anonymous function x(); //this results in in alert("after"); //which is not the way i want/need it in reality my code is somewhat more complex. my script iterates through many html objects and adds an event listener each element. i do this by declaring an anonymous function for each element and call another function with an ID as argument. that ID is represented by the "o"-variable in this example. after some thinking i understand why it is the way it is, but is there a way to get js to evaluate o as i declare the anonymous function without dealing with the id attribute and fetching my ID from there? my full source code is here: http://pastebin.com/GMieerdw the anonymous function is on line 303

  I've added php as a module for Apache 2.2.11: LoadModule php5_module "c:/php/php5apache2_2.dll" And also added AddType application/x-httpd-php .php And in PHP.ini, my extension dir is set to: extension_dir = "C:\php\ext" And yes, the directories are correct and all files do exist. • Customizing doxygen output for the HTML Table of Contents

  I'm using doxygen to generate an API reference from source code, aiming to convert it into a CHM help file and eventually into a plugin for Eclipse. Unfortunately the default ordering and nesting of the classes, namespaces, etc. in the Table of Contents is not exactly ideal and I'd prefer to customize it if possible. By default, doxygen creates two indexes/menus for navigating the generated documentation. One is the common Table of Contents on the left frame and the other is the row of buttons at the top of each individual HTML page. The latter can be comfortably customized by editing the layout xml file as described in doxygen manual (see section 'Changing the layout of pages') but so far I've seen no way to do similar modifications for the Table of Contents. To use a precise example, I'm looking for a way to nest the three standard topics Class List, Class Hierarchy, and Class Members as subtopics inside a parent topic in the TOC, as is done by default in the menu system that's located on top of every page. I'd imagine this is not the most unusual issue and may have a known solution available. Thanks for your assistance!
