• Best practice to calculate the average speed from GPS coordinates

  i have here a device which can give me gps coordinates. the time intervall i can define. i want to use it to calculate the average speed during driving or travelling by car. actually i used a orthodrome formula to calculate the distance between two points and then divided it by the given time intervall. by the implemenation i followed this term (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthodrome#Genauere_Formel_zur_Abstandsberechnung_auf_der_Erde). Unfortunately i could only find a german link, but i think the formula should be understandable in any language ;) Unfortunately, using this formula and a time intverall of 1 seconds gives very unprecises results. the speed while walking is between 1 km/h and 20km/h. So i wonder if there is a general reference how to implement distance calculation between two gps coordinates (i found something similar on SO) and particulary, which is the best time intervall to update the GPS coordiantes.

• jQuery: Dynamic image handling (waiting for load)

  I'm trying to write a plugin that has a built in function to wait until all images that are on the page to be loaded before it executes itself. $(window).load() only works if it's the initial load of the page, but if someone wants to pull down some HTML through AJAX that contains images, it doesn't work. Is there any good way of doing this AND implementing it so that it can be self-contained in the plug-in? I've tried looping over $('img').complete, and I know that doesn't work (the images never load, and the browser crashes under a "script takes too long to complete" bug). For an example of what I'm trying to do, visit the page I'm looking to house the plugin at: http://www.simplesli.de If you go to the "more uses" section (click it on the nav bar), you'll see that the image slideshow won't load properly. I know the current code doesn't work, but it's just holding place until I figure something out.

• Jquery Validate Issue

  I'm using the Jquery validate plugin to validate a multi-step form like this one: http://jquery.bassistance.de/validate/demo/multipart/ Unfortunately, I can't seem to get it to work at all and there is a total lack of documentation to guide me through implemnetation. I think the accordian part of script is firing correctly because the bottom half of the form is being hidden and a 'next' button has been successfuly inserted. • nServiceBus with large XML messages

  Hello, I have read about the true messaging and that instead of sending payload on the bus, it sends an identifier. In our case, we have a lot of legacy apps/services and those were designed to receive the payload of messages (xml) that is close to 4MB (close MSMQ limit). Is there a way for nService bus to handle large payload and persist messages automatically or another work-around, so that the publisher/subscriber services don't have to worry neither about the payload size, nor about how to de/re-hydrate the payload? • URL filtering for UIWebView on the iPhone

• UIComponent extended class isn't showing UIComponent extended class

  I have 1 class (that is extending a UIcomponent) that is representing a component. In that component I create different instances of another class that is also a UIComponent but this class doesn't show up in de first class. I see that it is running and that it has the correct hights but I got the feeling that it doesn't show up with this hights. If I trace I see the width and height is 200 X 200 but there is still nothing visible in my component I bet there is a simple solution for this problem?

• Validation plugin hijacks click function?

  Absolute newbie question, any help is highly appreciated :) I am using curvycorners (http://www.curvycorners.net/) in combination with the jQuery validation plugin (http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-validation/), and I'm having problems getting the div to redraw the rounded corners when I do like this: $("input[type='submit']").click(function(e) { curvyCorners.redraw(); }); When I click the submit-button the first time the form validates, the validation error-message pops up and expands the div, causing the layout to go ugly. However when I click on it the second time the rounded corners redraw nicely. Could it be that my validation plugin hijacks my initial click? How do I go about this? Any hint is very much appreciated.

• SQL CE unspecified error

  Hello, I did a project with MS SQL Server CE that when installed in the 'costumer' machine just raises an unspecified excpetion. Did some research and looks like I did everything mentioned. The dev env has sql compact 3.5 installed and sql tools for vs 2005. Using dotNet 3.5. But to make it run in de dev machine I need to add the sqlcese30, sqlceqp30, sqlceme and sqlcecompact30 dlls and its works fine. The setup project put dotNet 2.0 as dependecy and I also added the dlls but it raises the exception and I cannot see where or what it is. Its just a single 'unspecified error' message. please help :)

It needs to choose from one of four different equations (with some specific parameters for each document). So far I have manage to create the whole document programmatically except the equation. Is it possible to create equations programmatically? if so, where is de API documentation from MS? if not, which solution can be used?

I think the question is legit because: Raven DB is brand-spanking-new. RDBMS's are probably the de facto for data persistence for .net developers, which Raven DB is not. Given these points, I would like to know your general opinions. Admittedly, the question is sort of broad. That is intentional, because I am trying to learn as much about it as possible, however here are some of my initial concerns and questions: What about using Raven DB for data storage in a shared web hosting environment, since Raven DB is interacted with through HTTP?   I would like to implement windows style multi-selection: when user holds CTRL key and selects several nodes of the tree. Dynatree (from here http://wwwendt.de/tech/dynatree/doc/dynatree-doc.html) by default has checkboxes for node selection which my client doesn't seem to like. My question is, is it possible to implement what I need using provided set of callbacks? also, curently, when I hold CTRL key and click on the node, it opens a new window. Is there any way to suppress this functionality? i am guess I would have to do through CSS?

• Static compilation in the .NET world

  I'll be writing a small desktop app for a client that has WinXP machines and they won't be installing the .NET framework (at least not for me). So my choices are limited to either C++ or VB6, neither of which sound great. I remember reading back in the day that Mono came up with a static compiler, but recently the only thing I could find is Miguel de Icaza's entry on static compilation for a game engine for the purposes of running the app on the iPhone - not what I had in mind. Are there any products out there, free or commercial that will allow me to statically compile my .net 3.5 winform app? Thanks

• Powershell 2.0 Hang When Run From MsDeploy pre- post- ops using c/

  I am trying to invoke powershell during the preSync call in a MSDeploy command, but powershell does not exit the process after it has been called. The command (from command line): "tools/MSDeploy/msdeploy.exe" -verb:sync -preSync:runCommand="powershell.exe -NoLogo -NoProfile -NonInteractive -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command C:/MyInstallPath/deploy.ps1 Set-WebAppOffline Uninstall-Service ",waitInterval=60000 -usechecksum -source:dirPath="build/for-deployment" -dest:wmsvc=BLUEPRINT-X86,username=deployer,password=deployer,dirPath=C:/MyInstallPath I used a hack here (http://therightstuff.de/2010/02/06/How-We-Practice-Continuous-Integration-And-Deployment-With-MSDeploy.aspx) that gets the powershell process and kills it but that didn't work. I also tried taskkill and the sysinternals equivalent, but nothing will kill the process so that MSDeploy errors out. The command is executed, but then just sits there. Any ideas what might be causing powershell to hang like this? I have found a few other similar issues around the web but no answers.

• XCode automatically deactivating breakpoints

  I'm using xcode in C++. I'm trying to debug my project, but at random intervals, it seems to ignore my breakpoints. There are three things that it does: 1) Sometimes, when I run, it automatically switches to "de-activate break points" mode. (the relevant button goes light and says "Activate") 2) Sometimes when I run, ALL of my breakpoints go "can't find" mode, with the yellow insides. I need to click twice on them to get them back dark blue (once to light blue = inactive, once to dark blue = active) 3) Sometimes, when I run, my breakpoint is dark blue, the button says "deactivate" and it still just ignores my breakpoint, running straight past it. This makes it very difficult to debug my program... I should add that I'm using XCode 3.1 beta on OSX 10.5.6, in case that matters. thanks.

I've seen FlexMojo but it uses the GraniteDS generator wich create some problems when it comes to map Enum objects (wich can be fix through a workaround that is describe here : http://dev.c-ware.de/confluence/display/PUBLIC/Flexmojos+generated+AS3+model+with+Enum+support+using+BlazeDS?focusedCommentId=7634946&#comment-7634946 if you've googled your way here this might be useful) when working with BlazeDS. Everything that i found so far are people who explain how to generate VO classes on flex side using Flash Builder 4, but this solution can not be used in an industrial developpement environnement.   Hello, I am looking for a python library that would allow me to compute stochastic calculus stuff, like the (conditional) expectation of a random process I would define the diffusion. I had a look a at simpy (simpy.sourceforge.net), but it does not seem to cover my needs. This is for quick prototyping and experimentation. In java, I used with some success the (now inactive) http://martingale.berlios.de/Martingale.html library. The problem is not difficult in itself, but there is a lot non trivial, boilerplate things to do (efficient memory use, variable reduction techniques, and so on). I tried to register my dll with regasm but i've always got the warning to give strong name, but i tried a lot of thing and i got this error again. So i tried to install the AEP but i haven't the ProgId required. Someone can help me to create and install an AEP? Thanks Julien
