  Hi there, I'm using SQL Server and I want to use identity constraint in it I know how to use it in following manner create table mytable ( c1 int primary key identity(1,1); ) the above code works fine but what if i want the identity column to have values as EMP001, EMP002,... instead of 1,2.... Given a table: foo, bar a , 1 b , 3 a , 2 c , 1 and the query: SELECT foo, sum(bar) FROM table GROUP BY foo The two ways I can see this going are either: a 3 a 3 b 3 c 1 or a 3 b 3 c 1 Thanks.

  I am trying to output a long XML result from SMSS. When I right click on the results and 'save results as...', I can only get a 2mb file? I have changed the settings in SMSS via Tools - Options - Query Results - SQL Server - Results to Grid, for XML data to be unlimited. Forever, it still seems to be truncating my XML results? To avoid this we are storing all the ids in a table and doing a SELECT within the IN clause. This however means extra database operations to store and retrieve ids.
