• Rendering blocks side-by-side with FOP

  I need to generate a PDF from XML data using Apache FOP. The problem is that FOP doesn't support fo:float, and I really need to have items (boxes of rendered data) side-by-side in the PDF. More precisely, I need them in a 4x4 grid on each page, like so: In HTML, I would simply render these as left-floated divs with appropriate widths and heights. My data looks something like this: <item id="1"> <a>foo</a> <b>bar</b> <c>baz</c> </item> <item id="2">...</item> ... <item id="n">...</item> I considered using a two-column region-body, but then the order of items would be 1, 3, 2, 4 (reading from left to right) since they would be rendered tb-lr instead of lr-tb, and I need them to be in the correct order (id in above xml). I suppose I could try using a table, but I'm not quite sure how to group the items into table rows. So, some kind of workaround for the lack of fo:float would be greatly appreciated.

• Sharing same vector control between different places

  Hi everyone, I'm trying to implement the following: I have an Items Manager, that has an Item class inside. Item class can store two possible visual representations of it - BitmapImage(bitmap) and UserControl(vector). Then later, in the game, I need to share the same image or vector control between all possible places it takes place. For example, consider 10 trees on the map, and all point to the same vector control. Or in some cases this can be bitmap image source. So, the problem is that BitmapImage source can be easily shared in the application by multiple UIElements. However, when I try to share vector control, it fails, and says Child Element is already a Child element of another control. I want to know how to organize this in the best way. For example replace UserControl with other type of control, or storage, however I need to be sure it supports Storyboard animations inside. • How to display multiple categories and products underneath each category?

  Generally there is a category menu and each link to a category page where shows all the items under that category. Now I need to show all the categories and products underneath with PHP/MySQL in the same page. So it will be like this. Category 1 description of category 1 item 1 item 2 .. • How to hide the title bar while application is loading and show it when it finishes loading?

  I have an application which uses a custom title bar. However, when my application launches, I noticed that the default title bar is shown for a brief period of time. My problem is I don't want to show the default title bar while my application is loading. How do I hide the title bar while my application is loading so that there will be no hint of it and then show it afterwards? So far, I tried the following solutions but none have worked: Hide the title bar in XML and then set the custom title bar in code. (Problem encountered: I received an error message saying: "You cannot combine custom titles with other title features".) In XML: <item name="android:windowNoTitle">true</item> In onCreate method: requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE); //... some code goes here getWindow().setFeatureInt(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE, R.layout.title_header); Set the size of the title bar in XML to 0. Then change it's size via code later. (Problem encountered: I don't know how to set the size of title bar in code. Is it possible? • NotApplicable marker with display pattern

  Ok, so I'm pretty new to Cocoa, especially Bindings, but here's what I'm trying to do. I've got a Core Data model consisting of two entities: Category and Item. Category has a to-many relationship to Item called children, and Item has a relationship to Category called parent. Item has two attributes that Category does not have: quantity and desiredQuantity. What I'd like to do is display the tree in an NSOutlineView with two columns. One column is bound to the name of either the Category or the Item. I want to the second column to display something along the lines of 2 of 5 for the Item rows and nothing at all for the Category rows. When I use a display pattern, the Category rows end up showing of I noticed that if I don't use a display pattern for the second column, and instead just bind its Value to either the quantity or the desiredQuantity, the Category rows show nothing; its only if I try to use the display pattern. How can I make it display nothing for the Category rows and still use the display pattern? Or can I? Edit: I guess I didn't explain what the NotApplicable marker has to do with anything - Category does have properties for quantity and desiredQuantity, but they just return NSNotApplicableMarker.

In the implementation of where article, I found the following snippets, but I don't get what is the advantage that we are gettting by splitting the original method into two. Conclusion/Solution: I got confused due to my lack of understanding on which functions are determined to be iterator-generators. I assumed that, it is based on signature of a method like IEnumerable<T>. But, based on the answers, now I get it, a method is an iterator-generator if it uses yield statements.

• Loop elements with Jquery and call Omniture s.tl() function to track

  Hi, i have a page with a list of items. Each item has a print now link (a.printMe) to print each item. At the end of the list, there's a print all link (a.printAll) to print all items. I want to track number of times an item was printed. If a.printAll link is clicked, then i will send all the item's tracking value to Omniture. I added tracking string into individual item's a.printMe href attribute and track with the following functions: $('a.printMe').click(function() { var value = $(this).attr('href'); track(value); }); $('a.printAll').click(function() { $('a.printMe').each(function() { this.click(); }); // works in IE only. IE 6-8 }); function track(value) { var s = s_gi('account'); s.prop10 = value; s.linkTrackVars = 'prop10'; s.tl(true, 'o'); } The problem is only the last item (in the list) has its value sent to Omniture when i clicked on a.printAll. I finally got the above to work in IE but not Firefox. Anyone encounter this before?

• MySQL managing catalogue views

  A friend of mine has a catalogue that currently holds about 500 rows or 500 items. We are looking at ways that we can provide reports on the catalogue inclduing the number of times an item was viewed, and dates for when its viewed. His site is averaging around 25,000 page impressions per month and if we assumed for a minute that half of these were catalogue items then we'd assume roughly 12,000 catalogue items viewed each month. My question is the best way to manage item views in the database. First option is to insert the catalogue ID into a table and then increment the number of times its viewed. The advantage of this is its compact nature. There will only ever be as many rows in the table as there are catalogue items. `catalogue_id`, `views` The disadvantage is that no date information is being held, short of maintaining the last time an item was viewed. The second option is to insert a new row each time an item is viewed. `catalogue_id`, `timestamp` If we continue with the assumed figure of 12,000 item views that means adding 12,000 rows to the table each month, or 144,000 rows each year. The advantage of this is we know the number of times the item is viewed, and also the dates for when its viewed. The disadvantage is the size of the table. Is a table with 144,000 rows becoming too large for MySQL? Interested to hear any thoughts or suggestions on how to achieve this. Thanks.

  I had following error from Google App Engine when I was trying to iterate list in JSP page with EL. I understood that detachCopyAll() method should do same what I did, but that method should be part of data nucelus, so it should be used instead of my owm methods. So why dosen't detachCopyAll() work at all?

  I am using the DataTable jquery plugin from: http://datatables.net/ I have a DataTable that has multi-row table header with colspan. Something like: <thead> <tr> <th>Level 1</th> <th colspan='2'>Level 1 - Item 1</th> <th colspan='2'>Level 1 - Item 2</th> </tr> <tr> <th>Level 2</th> <th>Level 2 - Item 1a</th> <th>Level 2 - Item 1b</th> <th>Level 2 - Item 2a</th> <th>Level 2 - Item 2b</th> </tr> </thead> However when I use the TableTools plugin to export then except for the "Print" option all the rest (Excel, CSV, Pdf etc) only has the "Level 2" header row and not the Level 1. Any suggestions on how to get it to export also Level 1?

Items have a display field; if it is on, the item should be displayed on the menu. The menu only displays 4 or 5 "specials" at a time, and the manager needs to change menu items easily.   What I want to do is add and remove list items. I have got it to add new items to the list and I can remove existing ones but not the ones that have been added.   Hi, I have an sql scenario as follows which I have been trying to improve. There is a table 'Returns' which is having ids of the returned goods against a shop for an item. Its structure is as below. Returns ------------------------- Return ID | Shop | Item ------------------------- 1 Shop1 Item1 2 Shop1 Item1 3 Shop1 Item1 4 Shop1 Item1 5 Shop1 Item1 There is one more table Supplier with Shop, supplier and Item as shown below. Supplier --------------------------------- Supplier | Shop | Item | Volume --------------------------------- supp1 Shop1 Item1 20% supp2 Shop1 Item1 80% Now as you see supp1 is supplying 20 % of total item1 volume and supp2 is supplying 80% of Item1 to shop1. And there were 5 return of items against the same Item1 for same Shop1. Now I need to allocate any four return IDs to Supp1 and remaining one return Id to supp2. This allocation of numbers is based on the ratio of the supplied volume percentage of the supplier. This allocation varies depending on the ratio of volume of supplied items. Now I have tried a method of using RANKs as shown below by use of temp tables. temp table 1 will have Shop, Return Id, Item, Total count of return IDs and Rank of the return id. temp table 2 will have shop, Supplier, Item and his proportion and rank of proportion. Now I am facing the difficulty in allocating top return ids to top supplier as illustrated above. As SQL doesnt have loops how can I achieve this. I have been tying several ways of doing this. Please advice. My environment is Teradata (ANSI SQL is enough). Thanks in advance.

• Lucene raise document score if sibling entity matches query

  I have the following design situation. I use hibernate search (lucene in the back). Tha application manages ITEMs which have title, description and tags. These are full text indexed. On the other hand, we have COLLECTION of ITEMs. The user can create a COLLECTION and add as many ITEMs as she wants. ITEMs can also belong to many COLLECTIONs. I have a boosted query so that search terms that appear in the tags are more important than in the title, and lastly in the description. But I need an additional matching criteria: for a given ITEM, it whould rank better if other documents in some COLLECTION where the ITEM belongs, also match the query. This is like to say: the title/tags/description of "fellow" items (i.e. items in some shared collection) make the item rank better. I was thinking that adding an ITEM to a COLLECTION would add something like "extra tags" to every other ITEM in the collection, being these extra tags the elements to match in the added ITEM. I feel a more clever solution lucene-wise should exists. Any ideas/pointers are welcome. Thanks.

  I have 2 different lists: EmployeeNames and Names I read the values in Names and that of EmployeeNames. If EmployeeNames exists in Names, I must not add that value to "ToSelectBox" but to "FromSelectBox". If EmployeeNames doesn`t exist in Names, I must add that value to "ToSelectBox" but not to "FromSelectBox". How can I do that dynamically? • Will array_unique work also with array of objects?

  Is there a better way than using array-walk in combination with unserialize? I have two arrays which contain objects. The objects can be same or can be different. I want to merge both arrays and keep only unique objects. This seems to me like a very long solution for something so trivial. • When clicking on ajax.actionlink in its oncomplete function I can't update the html of a div whith requested data

  In one partial view I've got some ajax.ActionLinks which when clicked update the div 'importpartupdate' (they just updates the div whith new ajax.actionLinks with other routevalues). The problem is that when this update is competed I have to update another div - depending on which link is clicked . That's why in my OnComplete function of my ajax.ActionLink I make an ajax request to the action'GridViewLanguage' which returns me the partial view which should uodate this other div which claass .floatLanguage. So the first time when I click a link eeverything works correctly and my two divs are correctly updated.   Hi Is there a better simplified way to write this query. My logic is if collection contains customer ids and countrycodes, do the query ordey by customer id ascending. If there are no contain id in CustIDs then do the order by customer name. Is there a better way to write this query? • Override one css class with another?

  Hi, I have a list, with an li style defined. I want to replace the style of an individual element, but it doesn't seem to have any visual effect. Example: .myList li { background-color: yellow; } .foo { background-color: green; } <ul class='myList'> <li>Hello</li> </ul> When I add an item to the list, it has the .myList li style applied properly. I try now to remove all styles and apply the foo style to a single item (using jquery): $(item).removeClass(); $(item).addClass("foo"); the item does not change color to green though, but this reports the class is set to 'foo': alert($(item).attr('class')); so I guess I'm not understanding css rules here, looks like the li class definition is just overriding whatever else I do, however I want the reverse to be true, I want to override the li style definition with foo. How do we do this? Thanks
